contraception, withdrawal method......

Does anyone else use this method of contraception? I know its not good but im sure it works for me.

Been with DH for 11 years. When i first met him I was on the pill. After 2 years we then moved to LA and i stopped taking it and started using the withdrawal method and then after another 2 years started trying properly (IYKWIM) for a baby. Fell pregnant with DD1. After I gave birth went back to withdrawal again. I knew this wasnt 100% so i tried the pill twice and it turned my into a depressed maniac and I said I will never go on it again. Then started trying for DD2 and fell pregnant and gave birth in 2006. Have been using withdrawal ever since.

In the near future we will probably try for another baby (still unsure!) which is why im on here doing research as I know its not 100% safe. I have just recently found out I have polycystic ovaries and am waiting for a scan so I wonder how fertile that makes me.

I have read 6 days before and 6 days after period is okay, but I am sure it would be important to know your cycle pretty well to judge...

13 yrs using this method and two planned children, fairly normal cycle.

SuziSeis · 13/04/2009 22:41

withdrawal is so much sexier!

adds the element of risk

plus I like a man with strong dick control. Withdrawal is pelvic floor exercises for knobs!!

npg1 · 13/04/2009 22:43

how funny you lot are!

Amen, Suzi! Real men know DC.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 13/04/2009 22:47

I think it would be sexier to, no rooting round for condoms in the bedside cabinet... but really can't have any element of risk!

Wink
SlightlyMadSimnelCake · 13/04/2009 22:57

I wouldn't call a sticky white belly at the end sexy personally but hey it (seems to) does the job.

ABetaDad · 13/04/2009 23:02

npg1 - ah well that does make a BIG difference. I had assumed you would be making sure you had a completely safe way of knowing when you are ovulating if you are polycystic and also using the withdrawal or even rythmn method.

I just could not be happy at all in that situation - but each to their own and if you want another baby anyway it would not be such a bad consequence.

Those of you who don't like using hormonal methods of contraception, have you tried diaphragms?

I've never got on with the Pill etc, but found diaphragms brilliant. Don't have a DP at the moment, but used it in the past, had sex up to 6 times a day (was a student - those were the days) and never any problems. Very easy to put in and take out. No side effects.

Anyway....feel free to resume talking about cock control !

SuziSeis · 13/04/2009 23:14

cap? cock control?

cap? cock control?

cap? cock control?

naaaa thanks but you keep your cap

rosbif · 14/04/2009 06:03

Persona works very well for us and no issues with hormones etc as natural

purplemonkeydishwasher · 14/04/2009 07:28

"slightlymadscientist you need to scream in the throes of passion ' just give it to me - in me - deeper ' or some such much filthier version and he will have no option"

that's very very very true. (looks down at hugely pregnant belly...)

expatinscotland · 14/04/2009 10:30

'Those of you who don't like using hormonal methods of contraception, have you tried diaphragms'

I have. It gave me UTIs.

Like I said, I wouldn't mind sterilised, but don't want a GA and tummy blown up with gas just now when have got young children to look after and no help about.

expatinscotland · 14/04/2009 10:33

And for some people it's not a matter of not liking hormonal contraception, they either can't for medical reasons (I loved the combined pill, but it's no longer suitable for me because I'm 38 and have hypertension) or the side effects were too great.

TitsalinaBumsquash · 14/04/2009 22:50

All hormonal contaception has made my life miserable, anything i have had had made me bleed heavily and constantly for weeks and weeks afterwards leaving me anemic.

I had the injection twice and bled solidly for 2 years i was really ill afterwards in hospital it scared me for life.

I would consider the Coil but again am scared it may do the same thing as all the other have, its a toss up between being covered contracepive wise and having still good sex with condoms or being a little risky using withdrawral method and having amazing feeling 'bareback' sex (dp's words not mine!)

SuziSeis · 14/04/2009 23:05

bareback is dps phrase of choice too titsalina!

purplemonkey !! ;o; glad to hear it!
