Oh Aimsmum, your poor dd's eardrum . That is a blow. I have a suspicion we are heading this way with dd, tbh. Last few times we've just had the effusion without the restlessness and discomfort and I am thinking we have a little hole in the drum. DIY grommet I guess
Do hope your poor dd is feeling better today.

can't think of anything but and hugs {{{{{ }}}}} worth keeping up with the dairy free and Echinecea until you see the Specialist - would it be worth seeing a Kneisologist (over the Cranial treatment?) They can test for inbalances - allergies and intolerances, it sounds like she is very run down with the eye infections too

If it is the one that tests with an electrical current - they did this at our local Health food shop and my friend went, not sure if this is as accurate as a muscle strength testing Kneisologist although the affect is the same as it tests for muscle reaction with each food group. If it is free it may be worth a try as she is so ill. The Kneisologist we saw was also a Nutrionalist and went through every mineral balance, fatty acid, major organ function - sounds really silly I know but the advice she gave was spot on? Does any Mners have a recommendation for one in Glasgow?

Huh, well our dd is a regular gaucho...rare beef, chop bones, sausages, bring it on, she says (in fairness she is a good eater all round, veg and fruit too). Hasn't stopped her suffering!
A "well-known media doctor" once informed a worried friend of mine that a child over 2 could drink a whole bottle of Calpol with no lasting ill-effects but this was in the pub not in a professional capacity - and I'd be quite concerned if a doctor ever actually recommended over-dosing.
HMo2, Aimsmum, isn't it the pits. Sorry to hear your dds are under the cosh again. Dd seems to be responding OK to nightly Trimethoprin, in that the gunk is not the stinky pussy stuff any more but serous fluid, and much less of it. We are watching and waiting...
Hoxtonchick, hope you feel better soon
I wonder whether ear infections are to children what chronic back pain is to adults in the NHS sometimes. No-one seems to have an effective, safe, treatment to clear them up. And I guess it's not nearly exciting enough a field of medicine to attract high profile funding and lots of research projects.

Aimsmum - She is so sweet - cleaning her own ear so she could go to the party - what a love! it is such a pity for you and her that this is ongoing with no resolution, I found the Kneisologist really helpful (a good one should really only need one appointment to suss out what is going on with her) you may get some supplements to take as well but if it could sort her out, then?

Wonder if the antibotics could be making her so run down as as well as they kill all the bad bacteria AND good as well - she would find it hard to fight off anything then....

Might be worth trying Solgar ABC - c&p:

Solgar?s ABC Dophilus Powder is a selective, scientific blend of essential and beneficial ?friendly bacteria? specially formulated for the infant and child. Bifidobacteria (B. bifidum & B. infantis) constitute the predominant healthy intestinal microflora in infants, children and adults and primarily reside in the large intestine. Recently, other strains such as S. thermophilus, together with Bifidobacteria, have demonstrated positive effects on the health and maintenance of intestinal ecology.* In addition, Solgar?s ABC Dophilus Powder mixes instantly in your infant?s or child?s favorite beverage.

See what the specialist and food allergy person say
