For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

LOL at gormless to dreadzone. I shall look out.

I will standing with a glass of wine looking for the civilised literary tent. Oh, it appears there isn't one.

filthymindedvixen · 08/08/2008 11:30

you will like wierdigans cafe though (drystone wall field) they are organic veggie cafe with live music, chilll out etc. Very 10/10

I work with one of their mothers...here is cake and all sorts:)

Guadalupe · 08/08/2008 11:30

I have the most charming dd who taught Boco's DDs how to do fake burps which they did all the way home in the car apparently.

filthymindedvixen · 08/08/2008 11:32

Introduce her to my dd1 who will teach her his world famous armpit and knee-pit farts...

How old is she?

And is your DH a sociable beer-drinking chappie who might like to discuss philosophy with my dh...??

Guadalupe · 08/08/2008 11:52

She is 6, ds1 is 10, they are very friendly and would be very amused by armpit farts. Dh is a sociable beer drinking type, he doesn't tend to discuss philosophy but I'm sure he would nod after a few ciders. I could shout a bit of Nietzsche over the noise.

Honestly, don't feel you have to meet up, I know what it's like wanting to get away and then you see people you speak to in everyday life. It's quite small though isn't it, we just might bump into you. I could look the other way if I see a pirate?

S1ur · 08/08/2008 11:56

Hello.

Am staying at ILs so am being treated to much scrummy food which is a important pay off. We are here for two weeks. This is day 6. stifles scream

So there has beem much veg and fruit but not so much MNing. hey ho.

FIL has an exercise bike that I have my eye on trying out.

DOn't have time to read whole thread, dammit. Hope all people here are lovely and well.

filthymindedvixen · 08/08/2008 12:20

a 10 yr-old ds - you're ON!

((Wobbles in case this is Loopy's way of gently telling me she has no intention of meeting me ever again...))

Listen, I'm not suggesting we spend every waking hour together, but as this is our first visit to Solfest, and we normally go to festivals with a security blanket posse of other people, I will find it most reassuring if you would be willing to meet-up at some point for a cup of herbal tea/pint of cider and let our boys play togehter (and allow me to stroke dd's hair longingly) and see how it goes...

Guadalupe · 08/08/2008 12:45

That would be great. We know a few people going but they are mostly working there so we're camping on our own, not in a big crowd or anything either. I'd like to meet up.

I am quite nervous of a festival with a toddler but I'm sure it will be fun?? I have bought him ear defenders, and dd actually but Boco didn't think she'd need them so we'll see.

berolina · 08/08/2008 13:05

hello to all.

Bit jealous of festival talk.

Spent over an hour this morning sitting in BIL's MIL's (Bil-Mil for short) beautiful garden with ds2 asleep on my lap while ds1 weeded with Bil-Mil. I never have that sort of blissful inactivity. When ds2 sleeps in the day he is usually in the sling and I am doing stuff. - Then made a very successful Spanish omelette with potatoes sage tomatoes mushrooms for lunch. Also peach, apple, kiwi.

ds1 spent most of yesterday playing here with SIL's sister's dd. They are very alike. I wish we they lived nearer.

Guadalupe · 08/08/2008 13:26

just seen the weirdigans post. That looks fab!

FrayedKnot · 08/08/2008 13:29

Hello lovely veggers

I have just spent 7 whole days without logging on to a PC

How is everyone?

womblingalong · 08/08/2008 13:47

Hello All,

OH,I am most of festival goers, and a meet up too, how lovely.

Am looking out at grey skies, eating my birthday picnic on the carpet. Had promised DD we would have one (a picnic), but it has rained loads.

Strawberres, banana, apple, pea soup, hummous, tomatoes, lettuce.

womblingalong · 08/08/2008 13:48

Welcome back TooT and FK, how were your trips?

FrannyandZooey · 08/08/2008 17:42

baked beans, courgettes

I am meant to be going out for dinner but ds2 has slept all afternoon so I really doubt that is going to work

I slept too as knackered
ds1's childcare person cannot seem to comprehend that I am not paying her to take him round toyshops in fact I do not WANT him going round toyshops
he whinges incessantly when he gets home to be bought lots of crap
it's bloody annoying
we are paying quite a lot for the privilege of me having an afternoon nap once or twice a week

anyway
festy talk all so exciting
I really think we are going to try to go to EOTR even though Bee said don't

oh and we have a shortlist for ds2's middle name
Blythe
Rowan
Dante

I have decided I want something outre like Deliverance or Justice
but dp not keen
says it is hormones talking
still it has got him to agree that Dante is actually quite nice normal name that he will consider now [cunning tactic]

I like Dante and think it goes nicely with first name. Does he have your last name or DP's?

TooTicky · 08/08/2008 19:29

Will ds2 have your surname or dp's or do you have the same anyway? And is yours pronounced like the well known company or the other way?
I think Blythe rolls off the tongue beautifully after his first name. But Dante is maybe nicer. What was the other one?

TooTicky · 08/08/2008 19:30

Oh yes, Rowan is gorgeous but you would have the sound repetition thing.

TooTicky · 08/08/2008 19:32

Happy Birthday Wombling!!!! but sorry about the rain
It's lovely that you still had the picnic though.

FK, where have you been?

TooTicky · 08/08/2008 19:33

Dd1 is off camping tomorrow and the rest of us are going to the village fete, which means fancy dress.....
Ds1 is all sorted as a snake charmer and dd2 nearly sorted as Noddy.
Ds2 wants to be Wall e and so far has a yellow box.

TooTicky · 08/08/2008 19:34

Franny, I KNOW what you mean about toy shops!!!! Grrrrr!

littlerach · 08/08/2008 19:39

Blythe sounds good.

Sruffed courgettes (again!)

Dh has got back and went stright into garden to put up thwe trampoline.
he is a star.

I have been demonstrating tuck jumps and star jumps.

The neighbours have probably been sniggering at us!

TooTicky · 08/08/2008 19:44

I'd quite like a trampoline myself.

Are you coming to the fete tomorrow LittleRach?

filthymindedvixen · 08/08/2008 19:49

oh fete sounds idylic...

I love Rowan but agree sound would be quite similar. Dante is coool. Blythe sounds right.

TooTicky · 08/08/2008 19:51

Come on then fmv, it doesn't start until 1. You could camp in our garden....
