For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

right I want to tell you about our glorious success at getting ds2 registered
for some reason i thought this was a really important thing (I suppose it is quite symbolic or something) and wanted it to be a special day for us as a family
so we ended up setting off late for the office because we were being disorganised
got half way there and realised we had 7 minutes to get to somewhere on the other side of town (and we didn't really know the way)
then dp pointed out we didn't have any cash (needed for the certificate)
and ds1 wanted a wee
cashpoints and toilets all in opposite direction from register office

I was getting anxious and said I would go on ahead to tell them we were coming. Dp had ds1 and 2 and said he would meet me there shortly
I then wandered around really complicated part of town on foot for half an hour failing to find the place, getting more and more sore in the pelvis, and feeling that horrible feeling you get when you are late and it's important
got there finally and expected to see dp and dcs waiting for me - no they were not there either
blurted out to registrar (almost in tears) "Me and my partner have split up and I don't know when he'll be here - and he's got my sons"
registrar looked appalled and I took it that she was not impressed by us being late - realised after about 10 mins sitting waiting that she probably thought I meant we had SPLIT UP split up and that he had run off with the children
tried to think of way to explain and failed
realised ds2 would need feeding by now and had image of dp wandering around with screaming baby and unco-operative 5 year old

anyway eventually they turn up
registrar admitted she had thought I meant we had just separated and that god knows what was happening
did the job and went for pre-planned celebration meal
during which ds2 had enormous feed and did vast shocking poo which was completely uncontained by his nappy
at exact moment I put my hand down and realised this, the waiter came over to ask if everything was alright, and definitely clocked the poo situation but was waved away by me
while trying to sort out skirt in toilets realised I had leaked milk all over one side of top
left restaurant covered in bodily fluids - marvellous
quite nice salad though

sorry that was cathartic
anyway that was just a glimpse of me being the wonderful mother you said I was the other day

Lullabyloo · 17/08/2008 11:04

Oh sweetheart
Didn't quite go to plan then?
Glad the salad was good tho

Dh & I had a blazing row when we registered ds -me not wanting ds to have his name etc

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2008 11:07

I don't remember us making it an event, in fact I can't remember even doing the ds's. I do remember doing dd, on my own and sitting there and thinking 'oh god, I want to call her Scarlett.' And i was suddenly convinced that she should be called Scarlett and I didn't have a mobile, so I asked the registrar if I could use his phone, because i decided she should have a different name. And he said it was 'irregular' and looked quite cross, and I asked him if he liked the name Scarlett and he looked a bit bemused and shrugged and said 'like Scarlett O'Hara?' and then he said he had another appointment, so I went with the original name. I'm pleased. I don't even like the name Scarlett.

Fra, if you have a second please can you send me Lully's email, so I can bombard her with information she doesn't want to know about.

Lullabyloo · 17/08/2008 11:07

I can imagine the womans face when you said that you had split up with dp tho & he had the children & you had turned up to register without ds.
(sorry but I did snigger)
She must have done good eye rolling & thought Ah we have a right motley situation here.

Franny could you email my addy to 100x for me?

Lullabyloo · 17/08/2008 11:08

Lol 100

filthymindedvixen · 17/08/2008 11:16

FrannyandZooey · 17/08/2008 11:31

Oh LOL 100
yes I was making a big deal out of it because I think I felt we had been cheated out of all the normal stuff after ds2 was born, through being in hosp, so I was determined THIS BIT was going to go right

oh avi I love your ds's name! it is so dignified and 'him'

I can imagine how you felt though, I was going to be a bit stuffed if we had a girl, as we had picked 'Dulcie' and I was only about 90% sure of it
I didn't think it went with my surname and also wondered whether it wholly passed the "this is your captain Dulcie X speaking" test

your story trounces mine anyway

Oh. I started writing stuff earlier, now I've finished reading and refreshed and forgot I'd already been writing. [D'oh]

I've been at a weekend barbeque camping thing with Uni friends. F&V consumption limited to salad and beans but did ok considering.

Love the registering stories Franny, avi and 100x!

pinkspottywellies · 17/08/2008 15:19

Oh my goodness!! Lully your ds is gorgeous! He looks so grown up!

FrannyandZooey · 17/08/2008 16:08

hello all.

Lully those are stunning pictures.

Love registration stories. You have to have registered your child within 7 days here . Fortunately we had already decided on both dses' names and their appearance did not make us change our minds - in fact they seemed to suit their names so completely. When I first thought of ds2's I thought 'no, I can't call him that', but we decided to be brave and it grew and grew on me.

Have been out this afternoon for Kaffee, Kuchen and walk with ILs. Had pasta with heaps of balcony herbs for lunch and will have porridge with fruit for tea.

TooTicky · 17/08/2008 17:10

Wonderful stories Franny and Avi

Bero, your ds2's name is splendid. Definitely worth being brave for.

Avi, I am crocheting for dd2 - a cardigan. Is going v. well and, partly because of the colour and partly because I started it on holiday, I feel a seasude theme coming on and am going to add starfish and possibly other things. Am idly wondering if I can get nice periwinkle shaped buttons... Or limpet.

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2008 17:13

Fra have replied to your email. Was a good email, yours I mean, not mine.

Lully, have emailed you too with info.

[phew]

We went for a v. muddy walk in a wood and then out to a pub for lunch. Was v. nice. Then on the way back ds1 and ds2 and I went to the v. good independent book shop, where all the books are wrapped in clear paper and the floor is wooden and people ask you if you want tea or coffee a lot. I'd quite like to live there.

Avi - I like your story too. I know exactly what you mean. I thought it always the most dreadful responsibility, and whenever you really looked at a name all close-up it was never quite enough. I still feel like that. They have quite boring names too. It was as if we couldn't take the responsibility and so bottomed out. I read the baby name threads with great interest. I was a bit careless / unnerved by the whole process.

TooTicky · 17/08/2008 17:15

Hello 100x

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2008 17:16

Hello TooT

TooTicky · 17/08/2008 17:18

Thank you for glowing with me over dd1. Everything seems potentially so very good!

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2008 17:19

We went to Browns Folly and swang on the rope swings, and rushed about through the trees. Well the dcs and JJ did quite a lot of rushing, and excavating. I did standing, and staring. V. nice pretty leaves.

ahundredtimes · 17/08/2008 17:20

Oh but doesn't it? And you weren't you brave and great and proper to pull her out of school and get it all sorted out. Hats off to you, I think. Otherwise she'd have carried on and it'd have got worse, and she'd have felt dreadful.

I think you were brave and spirited and get full marks.

TooTicky · 17/08/2008 17:22

Rope swings? I think we missed those. We loved the views when we went though. Must go agasin.
It's worrying how the summer holidays fill up and rush by, isn't it? I'm sure 6 weeks used to last longer.
