Had really bad stomach pain for about a week, but suffer from IBS so have not taken too much notice, really bad diorrhea but again have IBS.

Just been to the loo and my poo was swimming in blood. Bright red blood. Have had a bit before but never this amount.

Am not going to call an ambulance but could go to A and E, or walk in centre or go to the doctors on Monday but I will struggle getting time off work.

i thought cd had colitis like me?

It is not so bad that i worry about not being near a toilet on a daily basis. There are days however when i have to stay at home. The bleeding is getting more frequent, back today with quite a lot of pain. I get the wanting to faint as well and exhaustion. This evening i have been unable to do anything and am so tired i am in pain. I will stop googling though.

I have colitis too, your symptoms do sound very similar to when I was diagnosed. Once I learned how to manage/avoid flare-ups it became much easier to deal with and most of the time I forget I even have it. Stress and being run-down are major triggers for me, too.

What do you avoid eating meg? Am assuming that you control it through diet.

When I had my initial, pretty bad flare-up, I cut out all dairy, wheat and caffeine and took liquid vitamin, mineral and omega-3 supplements (easier to digest in liquid form). Colitis is not thought to be caused by diet per se, but lots of sufferers seem to find that some things can make flare-ups worse. For some people it's spicy food, for some it's alcohol, wheat or dairy.

Within about two weeks of no wheat and dairy, the symptoms had all but stopped. Over time I reintroduced wheat and dairy with no problems but if I have a flare-up then I try to cut back on them again. My most recent flare-up came after a course of antibiotics so I took some probiotics which seemed to help, too.

The NACC are a very good source of support and information.

I also found this book very informative and useful.
