Has anyone got this lingering illness going round?

Ughh … been unwell for over a week now.

Started with a sore throat, then streaming nose, hacking cough, night sweats, and now left with fatigue and ‘heavy chest’. Just when I thought it was slightly subsiding I’ve now got completely blocked ears and haven’t slept a wink. My ears feel weirdly muffled and deeply blocked, in a weird way I haven’t really experienced before.

I’m just so over it all.

I did a Covid and flu lateral flow test early on but they both came back negative. Anyone else experiencing similar?

Our house is a new symptom a day. Fatigue, sore throat, mild cold, diarrhoea, sore tongue and mouth, ear and jaw pain unable to eat, stomach pain..and now a boil and incessantly itchy hands. No fever. Each symptom crosses over with the next, but only lasts a couple of days apart from the fatigue. Apart from the mild cold, the symptoms are really full on. I was doubled over with the stomach pain. Period delayed a week (only get that with covid, but test was negative). I thought it might be a few things together, brought back from the delightful buffet of viruses at schools now. DD is on half term and has been sleeping past midday all week and in bed at usual time or earlier.

im a ward nurse and everyone like this is returning positive Covid pcr’s! Currently got 3 rooms shut with it and I don’t think the lateral flows for previous years are being that accurate

We tested for Covid with new tests and came back negative, but who knows! Certainly the fatigue was extreme.

Monumentally stupid idea to stop vaccinating staff for it. The speed it has taken our staff out in a week is quite alarming. Some of them have been really ill.

On almost every MN thread about colds/flu/viruses nowadays, there's always (at least) one person who dresses their Covid scepticism up as "genuine question." Does that come with a head tilt and tinkly laugh? 🙄

Personally, I test because I like to know what I'm dealing with 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have been exactly the same and now in week 4. Still headache … nose problems … cough and so tired all the time.

I work for the NHS and we are not given Covid tests now yet we have Covid patients on our ward.

Yes same here!

I do pay for the vaccine but it costs ££££ and was much easier when I could get that and the flu jab done at the same time either by my GP surgery or at work.

I've felt dreadful for at least a week 😭 I've largely been asleep/trying to sleep/coughing my guts up. I just want it to be over!

Yes similar for 11 days and I am supposed to run a half marathon Sunday! Thought I was feeling better but sinuses hurt and still a phlegmy heavy chest

Exact same symptoms as you, felt properly rough for a good two weeks and then still slightly blocked ears / fatigue / nasal drip for a week or so after that. Was pretty shit! Also everything tasted gross and I ate mostly only potato waffles 🤣
