Been suffering with this for past few days. Chesty sandpaper cough, aches, temperature. Stuffy nose. Tested for Covid twice it’s not that. Anyone else got this?

Yes. Been in bed last three days. Actually couldn’t get up. Head pounding, vomiting, cough, temperature. Negative for Covid.

I’ve had to cancel work & my mum has DS. I was unwell a few weeks ago, but nowhere near this level. Up now, but my head hurts…

Hope you feel better soon. I work part time and as on probation don’t get sick pay but I think I’m taking the afternoon off today.

Yes. Day 16 now. Better than the two days I spent in bed but still feel rotten.

timoteigirl · 07/10/2026 06:07

Yes just recovering. Would the flu jab had worked against this?

Good question. Didn’t get it this year…

FancyKitten · 07/10/2026 12:06

DS is getting his Flu Spray in school though

gamerchick · 07/10/2026 12:08

There is a nasty lurgy going around. Drops you like a stone.

As an aside, they seem to have picked the right strains for the flu jab this year. It's worth getting.

What makes you think it's right this year? Asking as don't know enough.

sherbetlemonade · 07/10/2026 12:29

Yes. Had it for a fortnight now and it will not go away. My covid test was negative as well.

Absolutely had enough now. I tried to get a doctor's appointment with no joy yesterday - they referred me to a walk-in centre in a town 15 miles away, and by the time I would have arrived it would have closed. Tried to get another GP appointment this morning, again no, they referred me to a pharmacist. Seen a pharmacist, who said it sounds like it has developed into a chest infection which is beyond her remit and referred me straight back to see a doctor again. Doctors have no appointments for today, and referred me to a walk-in centre. I now have to try and get to the walk-in centre before it closes at 2. FFS.

To say I am pissed off would be an understatement.

timoteigirl · 07/10/2026 14:21

I couldn't get out of bed so no way would have been able to stand upright and get myself to doctor's.

You're asking me? Grin I'm definitely not that clued up, just trust the science dudes.

Some countries test for flu to see which one you have. I just check to see which ones are covered in the vaccine for this year and that's all I do. It's not an exact science but it prompts me to go and get it.

Shellyleppard1 · 07/10/2026 14:45

I've had it for the past fortnight. Temperature, coughing and spluttering. Up every hour in the night for sneeze, cough and another drink....

Trumpton · 07/10/2026 15:25

Add in the misery of loose bowels and an explosive cough! Only safe place is the bathroom! On week two now and feel really rough with no energy.

zen1 · 08/10/2026 08:53

Yes, three days of aches, pounding head, sweats. Days 4-8 sore throat, cough and terrible cold symptoms. I tested for Covid on day 4 and it came up positive straight away. Cold symptoms went on day 9 but I feel tired, no energy and ‘post viral’ (now day 11).

blueskiesandsun · 10/10/2026 17:08

Hope you all start feeling better soon.

Sore throat, chest feels “wrong”, tickly cough, post nasal drip when laying down (but weirdly not a blocked nose), tiredness.

The worst part is the non-specific “yuck” all over feeling.

Pancakeflipper · 11/10/2026 13:35

Is it making you feel dizzy and disconnected from yourself? Had the cold for over a week...not shifting

Yes the yuck all over feeling. No or disrupted sleep. Feeling better one minute and crap the next.

Returned to work after 5 months break last week, sat under the aircon and came home with the mother of all colds. On day 13 now. Have had to work full time through it - typical! Scratchy throat, dry cough but also mucus, runny nose and headache.

We have air con in my office. So am also 99.9% sure it came from there.

Yes similar symptoms here - started about a week ago with very mild symptoms for a few days. Been worse over last 3 days and no sign of improvement. Sore throat, coughing at night, huge sneezes, yucky phlegm, fatigue, headaches, temp fluctuations, disturbed sleep, just generally feeling crap.

babyt2020 · 11/10/2026 16:28

Yes me and husband have had this it’s been awful! His developed into a chest infection and mine into a sinus infection

Notonmyland · 11/10/2026 16:38

I've got germs and feel exhausted. This lot of germs is different to the lot I had about a month ago which was much more tiring and intestinal.
