Mummyof2asd · 19/06/2026 21:19

Hi tripped over and randomly my foot caught some tweezers that went through my foot and went through the skin sideways and came out the other end, I have pulled them out but my foot is really throbbing and I can put weight on it at all I have two ASD kids to care for so would like to avoid going a and e tonight . Do you think it will be okay ?
thanks

That makes it high risk for infection because it's a closed wound - similar to how dog and cat bites are considered high risk - they are very hard to clean
Add to that dogs'n'cats mouths are hoaching with bacteria !

Puncture wounds with an unclean sharp ( usually stepped on a nail in a bit of wood are ones that make my heart sink , they're a 'mare to heal..

Not A&E for this. Clean it, dress it and call 111 if you develop signs of infection.
A&E on a Friday night, peak World Cup drinking etc with a minor cut not requiring stitches will see you waiting all night at the least.

it might be worth looking at the pic again….see if you can spot the exit wound this time. It isn’t a ‘minor cut’.

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 19/06/2026 23:28

So glad you’ve gone to get it checked. The fact you can’t stand on it suggests it’s got a bit more to it than just a graze. At a guess, infection. If you’re lucky, oral abs will do the trick. I’d not be surprised of they do IV though.

OnTheBoardwalk · 19/06/2026 23:34

I think a lot of people were coming commenting before the picture had loaded

you are absolutely doing the right thing getting it looked at tonight. Good luck

I think this is based on the wrong assumption that op just jabbed herself. In fact she has tunnelled right through her foot and therefore she won't be able to get it clean without professional help I don't think.

Ladamesansmerci · 19/06/2026 23:58

Gosh how on earth were you walking that you managed that??

I think due to the location and risk of infection, I'd get it checked. I remember standing on a plug (thankfully didn't pierce the skin much, caused plug shaped scabbing and nasty bruising) and that hurt like hell, so I imagine you're in worlds of pain!! That being said, on a personal level, I'd probably just give it a clean, bandage it, and see my GP in the morning, but that's my own personal risk management!

Hi tripped over and randomly my foot caught some tweezers

are you sure? How were the tweezers positioned?

If the tweezers were on the floor , maybe wedged into something then the forward impact of her foot could've forced them into the skin.
If you trip , you land awkwardly and with force .

The OP had to pull them out so they went deep.

( I have heard many many weird iinjuries in my time , some are very What The Actual Jeff ?

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 20/06/2026 09:44

I'd have just bathed in salt water, taken pain killers and dressed it and seen what it was like in the morning. Will be interesting to see what treatment is given. Ouch!

Mummyof2asd · 20/06/2026 12:15

@Tepidwater of course I’m sure I wouldn’t make it up 😂😂 although I agree weird thing to happen. They were positioned on clothes on my floor that I should have picked up and I was running around in a rush like a lunatic and it just happened.

Did you see someone @Mummyof2asd ( and try to explain your very strange injury )
Hope you're doin' ok .

It's not a minor wound.

It is absolutely a minor wound.

Beenwhereyouareagain · 20/06/2026 17:09

How is your foot? That's not a minor injury. Have you had it looked at yet?

Please make it a priority; injuries like this are so susceptible to bacteria. They can get nasty very fast. Oh, and is your tetanus up-to-date? ♥️

pimplebum · 20/06/2026 17:15

Mummyof2asd · 19/06/2026 21:45

thanks everyone I’ll see how it is tomorrow, just really didn’t want to wait in an a and e tonight with two hot and tired kids but also don’t want to lose my foot lol

Obviously you have doused the area in anti bac and lashings of antiseptic cream etc ? Keep lashing it on and soaking in detol etc

Puppylucky · 20/06/2026 17:33

Blimey I'm glad I didn't see this thread three weeks ago when I trod hard on an upturned plug! Like the OP I had a puncture wound plus deep tissue bruising so cleaned it thoroughly and kept weight off it. The puncture wound took a week to heal over and the bruising was painful for longer but all this fussing is unnecessary. I eventually went to the minor injuries clinic after a week and a half as I was worried about the colour of the healing puncture wound to be told it was fibres from my sock! Basically self care unless there are any obvious red flags.

Dahliasrule · 20/06/2026 17:37

Ooh that looks sore, OP. Did you get it looked at? How is it today?

icannotlivelaughloveintheseconditions · 20/06/2026 18:44

What happened op did you brave a&e?

BertieBotts · 20/06/2026 19:01

I'd just put some antiseptic type cleaning stuff on it and a plaster and keep weight off it until it heals.

It's very unlikely you'd catch tetanus from tweezers unless you've been using them to remove ticks. And if you have a child under 10 you'll have had a DTAP in your last pregnancy.

If it starts to swell or get warm or the pain increases, then get it looked at probably at a minor injuries unit.

What did they do for you at A&E?

What did they do for you at A&E?

Maybe still there and in ICU!

🤣 no slightly more qualified (and much better paid).

You forgot to add 'really fucking rude' to your list of attributes 👍

stillhiding1990 · 21/06/2026 07:18

You had tweezers sticking up on your floor?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 19/06/2026 22:02

It's not a minor wound.

Of course it is? Between worst sort of wound and minor sort of wound this is closer to a minor sort of wound.

You earn £50k in the public sector working as a PA @DailyEnergyCrisis

doubt it that you are way more qualified and earn way more than a podiatrist

downloadtoad · 21/06/2026 09:50

So your tweezers literally pushed into the flesh of your foot and popped out the other end? And then you had to pull them out ? Jesus 😱😱 major infection risk I’d have thought !
