ve had aching and pain in my upper arm for about 5 days ..sometimes shooting pain in the area..when I feel the arm compared to the other side it feels more swollen but it's not red or warm to touch...
It's slightly tender when I press also but os more of a constant ache or pain on movement in certain places .

I was going to work one rushing one morning and I think I may have banged into the side of something but u can't actually remember weather it was this area..
It's making me anxious more so that it feels more fuller than other Side, raised.

Has anyone had this please I'm worried about bone cancer

Do you have health anxiety? Because you're jumping from a sore arm that you may have knocked to bone cancer, which seems quite a leap.

Have you spoken to your GP about your health anxiety? If so, what strategies have they suggested for dealing with these thoughts when they arise?

If not, it might be worth discussing it with your GP, as health anxiety can be really distressing and they may be able to support.

I’m guided by whether it’s getting better or worse. If it’s staying the same I wait for things to change. If it gets better, obviously it’s fine.
If it’s getting worse very fast, or constantly over time, I’d get it checked out.

Decacaffeinatednow · 11/06/2026 23:01

Last month you were worried about mouth cancer where you were biting your tongue.

You’ve bruised or pulled a muscle.

Are you getting help for your health anxiety?

That’s good then. It will slowly get better. Every body carries with it aches and pains, bumps and funny little idiosyncrasies.

Almost all of them are totally meaningless, just like rough edges on a piece of furniture. Most of us weren’t issued a high end, top spec body! Most of us have a run around. Does the job.

I don't no if I hit my arm in this spot though that's the issue...and why didn't it hurt straight away when I done it...its sore when I press it but no bruise

No one is saying the symptoms are fake, rather they are referring to the leap from recent arm pain/swelling after a probable bump all the way to bone cancer.

Your symptoms can be completely real while health anxiety influences how you interpret what they might mean.

A couple of posters have asked what support or help you're getting for the health anxiety side of things and you haven't acknowledged or replied. Is that something you've spoken to your GP about?

Decacaffeinatednow · 12/06/2026 12:46

So what did the dentist say about your tongue? Have you been referred for further investigation for that?

That's all perfectly normal. It means you've hurt a muscle somehow - you could just have slept on it funny.

CelticSilver · 12/06/2026 13:16

If you keep poking it you will prolong the recovery time for your bump.

See you next month with your next cancer scare.

How are they helping you, what have they told you to do when you start catastrophising symptoms? And what did they advise to do when their strategies don't work?

I'm not sure why your attacking someone with health anxiety ...your mum must be so proud of you...
Also I'm not poking it it's clearly more swollen than other upper arm and constant ache

Well then, make an appointment on Monday to see the GP for reassurance? It doesn’t sound like we can reassure you on mumsnet.

Beya4567 · 13/06/2026 14:51

I saw a nurse practitioner she said there wasn't a lump there but it's def more swollen than other arm..said its not angry and red..said prob muscular but acted like she didn't care to be honest
