ve had aching and pain in my upper arm for about 5 days ..sometimes shooting pain in the area..when I feel the arm compared to the other side it feels more swollen but it's not red or warm to touch...
It's slightly tender when I press also but os more of a constant ache or pain on movement in certain places .

I was going to work one rushing one morning and I think I may have banged into the side of something but u can't actually remember weather it was this area..
It's making me anxious more so that it feels more fuller than other Side, raised.

Has anyone had this please I'm worried about bone cancer

Are you in therapy now? Are you taking your meds?

I’m on citalopram. and have propanolol if needed and the panic spirals (but have not needed them for a while).

The scab I had was there for about a year. I’d pick it off but it would come back within a few weeks. Contacted GP who reassured me. One day I realised it hadn’t come back.

However, having said the above, I know your anxiety will be looking for a way to focus back on panicking and catastrophizing and dismiss my experience. Have you friends/family or anyone in real life that can help distract you from these thoughts for a while?

I don’t know if the therapy you’ve had/are having has supported you with how to get through these moments when it feels overwhelming?

Did yours bleed when u picked the scab ? Like it was a spot

sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depending on how long I picked at it!

I can see you’re avoiding answering questions about support and treatment. Anxiety is tough, even worse with intrusive thoughts. I don’t think you’re going to get what you need on MN, only a professional can reassure you and only good support (and possibly meds) is going to help you get this under control.

I understand that..
My arm feels abit better today..which is good but the spot thing now has taken over the anxiety and thinking things have spread to the bones in the arm to cause the pain

I have a persistent scab/spot on my chin, one on each side actually. It’s a little area that’s prone to bumps from hairs. It’s very easy to notice it with your fingers, then rub at it, and then scratch it. Then it’s there are keeps getting re irritated.

All the things you have described are symptoms of health anxiety. They are totally normal things your body does, but your mind is determined to make them seem sinister.
Having lots of symptoms is a sign that your health anxiety needs more assertive treatment.

Could be muscular could be a blood clot. See the GP.

I saw a nurse practitioner she said there wasn't a lump there but it's def more swollen than other arm..said its not angry and red..said prob muscular but acted like she didn't care to be honest

If you’ve seen a medic and they’ve said it’s muscular then that’s that.

Everyone’s bodies are lopsided. We’re not robots. See a doctor or let it go. Stop ruminating.

Do you work Beya? Distraction might be a good strategy for you?

JaneLupin · Yesterday 12:18

I overdid the pruning in my garden last year and my arm muscles were sore for over a week after that, so soreness from pulled muscles can last quite a while in my experience.

But if you’re still worried then go and see the nurse practitioner again.

And seconding what previous posters have said about advising you to get more help for your health anxiety.

ArabellaWeird · Yesterday 12:23

Are you taking the medication for your diagnosed health anxiety as prescribed, and are you following all of the other professional recommendations that will help you?

That's where to focus. Not on your body.

No-one here can give you the reassurance you crave. And even if we could, you know that as soon as we did, there would be something else you would fixate on. It’s not a criticism, or people being mean, it’s people reading this objectively and seeing the levels of unhealthy rumination that is happening here.

Reassurance will NOT help you, as it ultimately just feeds your health anxiety - and most posters on here know that

Are you taking the medication as prescribed, and following the other directions you've had to deal with your health anxiety?

That's probably the key here.

MozzarElla84 · Yesterday 21:22

Hi OP, have been reading your threads with interest. Like you I have extreme health anxiety and have been in treatment for this for a while. You have a deep deep fear of leaving your children behind, something that probably all mothers here can relate to as it is a mothers worst nightmare!

So rest assured that we understand your panic in the moments you believe something is going to happen to you . We all would feel this way.

But, you have to start to understand that you have a serious illness that is health anxiety and it is robbing you of the best years with your little ones. You say they don't know but trust me, they are very very perceptive and they can feel the stress in you no matter how hard you try to hide it.

You really really need specialist help with this because whatever you do you cannot prevent everything so you need to learn to deal with uncertainty and illness without completely losing yourself. I am certain that if you can successfully treat the illness that you so clearly DO have, which is severe anxiety, you will be so much better at meeting whatever happens in your life.

No you are not imagining pain in your arm, a scab on your back etc. Your physical sensations are real. The way your anxiety says it's something fatal is a lie. Stop believing the lie.

Good luck OP! 🍀
