DD1 (2.4) has been unwell and having blood in her poos since Monday, took her to GP and was referred to hospital, they discharged us after a few hours with instruction to take a stool sample and give her diarolyte (which she flat out refuses...)
Yesterday she seemed better, less blood, but this morning it was back, so back to GP, straight to hospital where we were put in a barrier room, then they took bloods from her and put her on a drip as she was refusing water, DH was staying with her while I came home to pack some more stuff as she was banned from playroom and other wards cos of infection.
I come home and am in the kitchen making her snacks when DD2 (8 months) starts crying in the other room, I go in to discover her sitting in a pool of vomit.
Put her in bath, strip her and turn shower on, dress, in car, back to hospital for teatime for DD1 so DH can come home to eat and get his stuff as he will be staying overnight.
halfway there I hear coughing anf pull over to discover DD2 has thrown up again, all over herself and the car seat. I have no water or money and was told by the garage that I couldn't use their bathroom as 'there is free car washing water outside'

Get to hospital, strip DD2 and put her in one of DD1's spare vests, have tea with DD1 who keeps pleading to be allowed to go home, and DD2 has some scotch pancake, and then DD2 throws up again, all over herself, the buggy and the hospital room floor.
Put her in bath (again), strip her and was asked to take her home in case she was infectious (!), (oh, and that if I want a dr to see her I have to take her to GP!) leave, after peeling DD1 off me and leaving her all pale in hospital bed with a drip in wrap her in blanket and scarf, put her in car (in just her nappy as have no other clothes for her!) get her home, feed her and put her to bed.
Come in here to post and just as I start up PC she voms all over herself again, and the cot, and her teddy, and her last clean sleeping bag.
Bath, again, now she is in her last clean vest (as got no washing done today) under a sheet, I daren't feed her again.

Daren't have a drink as might need to drive either DD2 to docs or to hospital for DD1.
Daren't go and get soemthing to eat as I want to be here next to the DD's room so I can hear if DD2 voms again.

thanks for listening, has been quite possibly worse day ever.

Thanks guys, got some diarolyte from doc (am on mobile so will give full saga later) but first 150ish ml came straight back up, she appears to have kept last lot down so far. Plus another bad nappy. Doc said leave until 1 but if still bad to call + take Nessa in too.
on plus side lana is off drip and done poo with no blood so dh is just waiting for dr to do his rounds as he is hoping she can come home.

Oh, and thanks for yelling at mil! She is still desperate to come help, and if they dont discharge lana ill need it!

Chirpygirl - have no experience really, just wanted to give you hugs, what a blimmin' time you've had!

Glad to hear Lana is hopefully on the mend.

Lots of sympathy. Ds had awful bug when he was 9mo and what didn't come straight back, came out the other end very quickly. Only thing that kept us out of hospital was Dr's advice re diarolyte - 1oz every 10mins (was still bf ds, but this just bounced). Ds was really dehydrated by this point and would have had much more than this and brought it straight back up - so it was terrible stopping him drinking, but it was the only thing possible to get him rehydrated without drip. I do hope that things don't get this bad for you and that you all get home together asap!

Not sure that now is the best time for virtual wine, but there is a glass waiting here just in case you need it

Thanks mt, that does help. I wasnt sure what to do about restricting her so am giving 50ml every 15 mins which is more or less the same,
i have made it up and am decanting it into another bottle so she doesnt see there is more, seems to be working. Will know by 6 if lana can come home too. And mil is holding off until we know!
Fingers crossed all round!

Oooh, poor you. We had a real vomit-athon with Ds like this when he was small and it was horrible - frightening, tiring, smelly etc.

I deffo agree re tiny sips of water or diarolyte - its horrible restricting it but it is the only way that they keep it down.

My dr said it is better to give it to them and them bring it up than not give it at all - it does some good on the way down that isn't cancelled out.

well Lana is now home!!!
picked her up at 6 and she is in bed now, cultures won't be back until tomorrow so we still dont know what it is.
DD2 managed to keep diarolyte down this afternoon and a tiny amount fo BM, (the calpol came back up though) and she has a temp of 38 so keeping an eye but she has just had a BM feed and is also asleep next door.

DH has gone out to the pub! He is a hero, he hadn't left her room for 24 hours apart from first thing this morning to get a coffee from vending machine. He even had to deal with an exploding nappy, including bathing, cleaning and changing her while she had a drip in her arm!

MIL is still at home, was all a bit weird this morning, first she was coming, then she wasn't, but as they are both home and DH is off for the next 2 days we should be ok.

(Oh and diarolyte saga, I had a prescription (and a bright red sleeping DD2 in a sling, tesco don't stock it, it will be 24 hours, boots don't have a pharmacist in teh 2 stores I went to, so again, would be 24 hours, and the co-op didn't stock that particular brand. So I asked him to sell me another brand, but he said he couldn't as it wasn't what had been prescribed, so again, I had to wait 24 hours.
At this point I had major sense of humour failure, it was half 11, I had been trying to find this stuff for DD2 for 2 hours in and out of the car, it was a hot day so this wasn't helping her dehydration any and I daren't give her BM as she would have thrown it up.
I rang my (lovely, lovely) dr and told her that I had a problem with the prescription, she was furious and insisted on speaking to teh pharmacist. 2 minutes later I had a big box of diarolyte!)

sorry for massive posts, it is just so nice to have somewhere to get it all out of my system!

Pssst - Beautiful, bossybritches and mistlethrush, thanks for booze!
