2025 flu jab reaction?

Imdunfer · 11/10/2025 08:09

I don't normally react to flu jabs but unless I've caught a cold, this year's jab seems to be really strong in its effects. Anyone else getting the same?

It also hurt and she hit the bone with the needle, both firsts for me, too.

No i just had the usual sore arm for a day

VanillaImpulse · 11/10/2025 08:11

What sort of effects are you getting?

BellissimoGecko · 11/10/2025 08:13

I had the opposite! I barely felt the jab going in - to the extent that I wondered whether I’d actually had the jab - and I had no side effects at all, not even a sore arm, which I usually get.

BellissimoGecko · 11/10/2025 08:13

She hit your bone?? Where did she inject you?

Oneearringlost · 11/10/2025 08:13

I was fine, with both flu and covid a week later. Mildly sore arm for 24hrs.

Jitterbuggs · 11/10/2025 08:15

Mine was just sore and itchy for a few days.

Autisticburnouthell · 11/10/2025 08:18

Sore aching arm for a couple of days buy it has’t impacted on activties. My temp was up 0.3c. I was only taking my own temp to check the thermometer was working properly, otherwise I wouldn’t have noticed this.

Bettyandthebunion · 11/10/2025 08:19

I had Covid and flu and felt pretty unwell with aches, shivers and very sore arms for 48hours.

luckylavender · 11/10/2025 08:19

Not even a sore arm

Iwiicit · 11/10/2025 08:20

I had barely any reaction whatsoever this year. It was very mildly sore for a day and I felt exactly the same as usual.
One year I had a painful lump the size of half an egg for weeks.

hairypaws · 11/10/2025 08:21

I got mine yesterday. So far I feel fine but the needle definitely hit something. I thought she had hit a nerve as it hurt when it was in deep. Thankfully was very quick. Little swollen and slight tenderness at injection site but otherwise fine.

Londonnight · 11/10/2025 08:34

I have had no reactions or side effects at all from my flu jab this year, not even an aching arm.

Lennonjingles · 11/10/2025 08:38

I just had sore arm, DH had sore arm and generally felt unwell for a day or two, but he’s immunocompromised so we were expecting something.

Bookblanketteaandsympathy · 11/10/2025 08:44

Last year I was in bed for 3 days. This year apart from a slightly sore arm the first night I wouldn't know I'd had it.

Same here!

NebulousSadTimes · 11/10/2025 09:00

Somebody told me they also had a cold after receiving the flu jab this year, as did one of their neighbours who had to take to his bed.

I did get ill after a vaccination years ago but I'm pretty sure I picked that up in the post office queue rather than from the vaccine.

What sort of effects are you getting?

Mild cold. Cough, runny nose, slight headache.

My arm. I've got thin arms and she didn't pinch up the flesh like they normally do. The needle definitely stopped at my arm bone! Not painful but very disconcerting.

No sore arm or fever for me this year but it sent my (usually well controlled) POTS symptoms into overdrive and flattened me with the worst fatigue for a few days.
And hitting your bone? I've never been so glad to be fat!

A flu vaccine cannot give you a cold. It’s not live. It can give you mild flu-like symptoms, but a cold is a virus. So it can’t cause that. It’s more likely she caught the cold when she was out and about.

Thistooshallpsss · 11/10/2025 15:03

Second shingles vaccine floored me for days felt I’d aged 20 years just had flu one today hoping it’s not so bad

Pixiedust1234 · 11/10/2025 15:14

I always feel off and slightly feverish after a flu jab but it only lasts 24 hours. I am immo-compromised though.

However the feeling that the needle hit your bone is a different matter, ouch!

VanillaImpulse · 11/10/2025 15:25

Mild cold. Cough, runny nose, slight headache.

There are loads of bugs about at the moment so you probably would have got that if you hadn’t had the jab.
Injectors don’t usually pinch the skin as that would be subcutaneous so vaccine would end up in the wrong place. Probably shouldn’t have gone so deep though if you are on the thin side.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 11/10/2025 15:28

I had it yesterday and not even a sore arm

HostaCentral · 11/10/2025 15:55

I had it on Thurs and have felt a bit off, a bit achy and headachey but it hasn''t stopped me doing anything. Just been for a long walk in the sunshine. DH felt a bit fluey too, but is better today.
