What the heck is this circular rash type thing on my back?

I’m googling and it’s saying things like Lyme’s disease and Ringworm 😱 What do you think it looks like? What should I put on it?

Photos aren’t great as it’s in the centre of my back and difficult to reach!!!

Just one spot?

MooseLooseAboutTheHoose · 24/07/2025 19:34

Yes, just one spot!

Ringworm for sure. Do you have any pets?

Diplo · 24/07/2025 19:35

More likely fungal / ringworm.
(unless you had a tick there!!)
Get yourself some antifungal cream from the pharmacy, should sort it!

MooseLooseAboutTheHoose · 24/07/2025 19:37

How do you even get ringworm??? Would a tick leave a noticeable bite mark in the middle? Got my poor son to look and he can’t see a ‘bite’.

I’d visit a pharmacist and get them to have a look.

Hearld spot?

I don’t have any medical qualifications.

This could be possible too!

Will definitely call into them tomorrow! I just don’t understand how it could be fungal or ringworm, it’s right in the centre of my back. So weird.

I had a fungal skin thing in my back and front that looked just like this. Got an anti fungal cream prescribed, cleared up easily. No idea why/how I got it but my siblings have had similar. We are also prone to fungal nail infections, delightful!

LunaDeBallona · 24/07/2025 20:57

Another vote for ringworm.

Have you checked their fur for bald spots or flakiness?

connie26 · 24/07/2025 21:14

Looks like ringworm

glittercunt · 24/07/2025 21:17

Looks like the ringworm I got from a pet rodent in my mid twenties. It was on my neck.

Ringworm is fungal, this looks like that to me, you need anti fungal cream and until it’s gone don’t share towels etc, as it’s contagious.

OchreSwan · 24/07/2025 21:20

Looks very similar to a herald patch for pityriasis rosea as another poster has said. How long has it been there?

solando · 24/07/2025 21:21

Herald spot probably, you will soon know if it's that as a rash will appear quite quickly

MooseLooseAboutTheHoose · 24/07/2025 21:25

Oh god… all the votes for ringworm are freaking me out!!! I’ll be straight to the pharmacy tomorrow and update everyone.

Can confirm piggies are healthy and no signs of flakiness, bald patches or rash etc. It’s been so hot as well that they’ve not been outdoors in a couple months so I really don’t think I picked it up from them.

Can ringworm just happen? Like out of the blue? Or must you catch it from something?

Should I be washing towels/sheets on a super hot wash or anything like that?

How long does it take to clear up?

Totally aware I could Google these things but your answers are way more comforting than the rabbit hole Dr Google will bring me down I think 😅

Do you go to a gym or spa? Loads of ringworm infestations there. Most people don’t wipe down wit the spray after anymore too. I’ve stopped going.

MooseLooseAboutTheHoose · 24/07/2025 21:26

@OchreSwan@solandoNot 100% sure how long it’s been there but can’t be more than a couple of days I think.

Do you mean a rash will appear elsewhere on the body? Like it will spread?

If it's ringworm, yes, it can spread as its a fungal infection. Get to the pharmacy tomorrow, buy some daktarin or lamisil and and book and get a Drs appointment.

I was in the spa for a massage about a month ago… could it have been that??? Went with my Mum and she developed a weird thing on her toes after that visit? Maybe the place was infested 🙈

If it's Pityriasis rosea, a rash of small spots comes up after a few days of the patch being there, bit itchy, lasts a couple of months or so, usually on the trunk area. I had it when I was about 30, irritating but harmless

Haggisfish3 · 24/07/2025 21:30

It does sound like it could be from there. I also reckon ringworm. Son had it. Sounds hideous but it’s just like thrush really. Bung cream on and it goes away.
