Did you try him on anything except breastmilk? He's probably telling you that is his preferred option: YOU and YOU only. Clever boy, but I can understand that you are worried. Let's know how you get on?

iwillNOTletthisbeatme · 21/05/2008 15:19

Hi Hope he's feeling better soon... Have you tried Medised? Might help him sleep as well as keep his temp down.

mylovelymonster · 21/05/2008 18:54

You can't get medised for under two's any more.

Hope he's much better soon x

iwillNOTletthisbeatme · 21/05/2008 18:55

hes only 6 months?didnt think you could give it to babies??

OP posts:
Waytmi · 21/05/2008 19:08

Sorry...didn't realise! I've just checked what's in my cupboard as been giving it to mine but 2 bottles both say 3+ months? Phew!

I wonder when they changed that as only bought these recently in Sainsburys.

MrsWeasley · 21/05/2008 19:13

oh IwillNOT so sorry to hear your DS is poorly. Hope he has a peaceful night.
Remember we are hear if you need us.

DutchOma · 21/05/2008 19:19

Try drinking as much bland fluids as you can yourself Iwill so that you have enough breastmilk for him which is always better than water

mylovelymonster · 21/05/2008 19:25

Naughty Sainsbos.
There is a large list of medications - I believe containing types of antihistamines or decongestants - including Calpol Night, Medised, cough medicines etc etc which have been removed from open shelves and which now need to be requested through pharmacist approval, for 2+years only. I think this was because some parents weren't adhering carefully to the dosing instructions and potentially overdosing, which in very young children is dangerous.
There may be another reason - sure others will be along to share.
Check with GP or pharmacist if you're worried.
here
Will be a full list somewhere there.

Notquitegrownup · 21/05/2008 19:42

IWNLTBM - breastfeeding really comes into its own at times like this. Since little people feed for comfort, it's highly unlikely that a bf baby will dehydrate as a formula fed one will, and IME they get over diarrhea quicker than formula fed babies. Don't worry too much about that cooled boiled water. Nature has given you a brilliant way of looking after him.

Sending him lots of good wishes to get better soon. Hope you can snuggle up in bed together once he's a bit better, and look after each other.

iwillNOTletthisbeatme · 22/05/2008 00:30

well i had to get the dr out an hour ago.he was being sick.temp up a bit and just not with it tbh.the dr didnt seem over worried though and has left me with dioralyte.so ive got to keep feeding him as much as i can.carry on giving him water and now the dioralyte.which he has pushed out his mouth poor little j
