Mole worry

Mummyto2123 · 05/01/2025 19:21

Before I go to my gp and worry myself silly I need someone to help me calm down. I suffer really bad health anxiety and have been doing so well until the mole on my shoulder became slightly itchy. I stupidly googled and have convinced myself it's skin cancer. I've had it for as long as i can remember but I'm not focused so much on it. Does anyone have anything similar? Does it look worrying or normal?

The ring around it is from the plaster you had covering the mole. Fake tan hasn't absorbed properly due to residual adhesive

Mummyto2123 · 30/04/2025 21:48

I had the mole removed 3 weeks ago and have been doing amazingly until now. I was doing my make up and noticed in the mirror that the ring is still around the scar which has concerned me now. I've also had some slight itching and the scar is slightly raised and sore but I'm assuming that it's just healing

You have health anxiety. What are you doing about that? There will always be something unless you deal with that.

Sportacus17 · 30/04/2025 22:02

Could have been a halo nevus ?

Mollymalone123 · 30/04/2025 22:44

It will it and be bumpy from where you had it removed and the skin is healing.

Mummyto2123 · 01/05/2025 12:07

I thought that it was just the healing process but was a bit worried. Does anyone know how long the redness and swelling lasts or does it just depend

Wolfiefan · 02/05/2025 21:37

You’re worried because of the anxiety. And asking for medical advice from randoms on here won’t help.

Mummyto2123 · 12/05/2025 12:31

It's still red and a bit sore. I'm fed up of this now. Thought it was all over with the worrying

Please go back to your gp-you csn ask them to check it but also please get help with your medical anxiety as it’s ruling your life

Wolfiefan · 12/05/2025 13:23

It won’t be over until you get treatment for the anxiety.

Beamur · 12/05/2025 13:29

I had a mole removed last year - it was really itchy as it healed. Eased a bit after the stitches came out but periodically twinged and itched for weeks.
Yours sounds like entirely normal healing. Just keep an eye on the redness and if it gets worse (which I doubt it will) ring your GP.

Mummyto2123 · 12/05/2025 14:53

I went to see the girl that removed it with the plasma pen. She said as she can't get down to the root I would have to get it cut out if it's still bothering me. She also said it will still be healing. I'm going to try and forget about it for a week or so and see how it is then

I had it looked at a private hospital and they said it was just an irritated mole nothing else that's why I got it removed elsewhere

The mole isn’t the problem. When will you listen and get the anxiety dealt with?? This way madness lies.

Mummyto2123 · 13/05/2025 09:35

So this is what it's looking like today. The redness has settled but still raised slightly

You need to contact your GP about your anxiety. Or things will never change. Seeking reassurance on here just fuels the anxiety.

Mummyto2123 · 15/05/2025 18:43

I put a photo on one of the skin apps and it came up saying it's 76% high risk for Cancer. How would the dermatologist not see this? I'm so scared

OP posts:
JamesWebbSpaceTelescope · 15/05/2025 18:52

That app is designed for untreated moles - not ones that have been removed and are still recovering. Please get help for your anxiety and obsession.

Nothing anyone can say on here will be able to help you.

doodleschnoodle · 15/05/2025 19:01

OP, it’s clear you won’t get reassurance here and any replies trying to do so will just feed or prolong the anxiety. Speak to your GP. This is no way to live.

Hey op, I use to have very bad health anxiety years ago. You sound exactly like I did back then, please treat your anxiety first -if you think there is something wrong, just ask the doctor to check it again to reassure you. I’ve had loads of moles removed, and that looks like normal healing process. Do not google symptoms! (this is how I stopped my HA). Unless you sort out your anxiety, you will only go round in circles. Good luck.

Wolfiefan · 15/05/2025 20:49

You are scared as you have a mental health issue. Get treatment for that.

Rosecat22 · 16/05/2025 10:47

I will echo what everyone else here has said. OP you NEED to sort your anxiety out. My mole removal scar was red and raised for months afterwards, and mine was done by an actual dermatologist, surgically. This is normal, you've had a chunk of skin cut out, it's what scars look like when they heal.

Mummyto2123 · 16/05/2025 14:08

The girl that removed it said it wouldn't scar as she done it via plasma pen. That's what had me worried because it wasn't cut out which would make sense if it was raised and red

I’ve just had this done last week with a plasma pen, I had to have a dermatologist give the all clear first to remove. It’s still really red now, and ones I’ve had removed over the years are a faint pink colour. It probably will have a slight mark, it won’t be clear

please do go to the doctors and say your worried about your mole. Get drs to check so you’re reassured, while asking about that get help for your mental health. It’s awful and I know how worried you are, but the only way to deal with it is to get help first.

Do you mind me asking how old you are?
