OH, MY, GOD,

talk about kids sending you grey, mine are doing it very very well it seems!!!

DS2 (my 5yo who tried to 'fly' off his wardrobe yesterday), has just decided that puting my decorative glass pebbles into his mouth, and then swollowing them, is a VERY GOOD THING......

he then panicked tho as he could still 'feel it', but I have given him and drink and biscuit and he is slightly calmer.......

BUT

this is correct isn;t it....I mean, it is smooth and round and altho slightly bigger than a marble, it isn;t going to do any damage is it.....(or is it????[scared])

he has bowel issues which is what is worrying me I guess.....on regular senna for chronic constipation so I am concerned about that impact IYGWIM.

agghhhhhhh.....they never let you relax do they!!!!!

Oh, and the reason he did it.....he needed dental treatment and stuff painting on his teeth which they had to then shine a blue light over to 'set' it....so needed not to eat for a couple of hours. he was hungry, and altho I was at that moment making him food, he decided that glass pebbles were a good thing to try!!!!

I am ok not to run to A&E aren;t I???

Quick answer - I think smooth pebbles ok. Now wait for a medical opinion as this isn't!

Psychomum5 · 01/05/2008 15:59

some one does care

oh bum....really......got no car ATM as it is broken and in the garage....

will ring DH me thinks then!

i would prob go, but it is likely it will get pooed out. how many did he eat?

collision · 01/05/2008 15:59

I would still go to A&E.....sorry!

redadmiral · 01/05/2008 15:59

Can you ring A and E and ask them?

ViolentFemme · 01/05/2008 15:59

call nhsdirect they'll advise you.

OsmosisBanana · 01/05/2008 15:59

phone NHS direct, see what they reckon. I personally wouldn't dash to A&E.

jes74 · 01/05/2008 16:00

phone nhs perhaps but what goes in must come out sometime

OsmosisBanana · 01/05/2008 16:00

x post!

jes74 · 01/05/2008 16:00

phone nhs perhaps but what goes in must come out sometime

mankymummy · 01/05/2008 16:01

ring NHS direct.

naughty neglectful mum ! dont worry we've all done it...

Nagapie · 01/05/2008 16:01

IIRC let nature take its course and if no result, seek medical attention (???)

If he has bowel problems, I think I would go and get it checked out...

flamingtoaster · 01/05/2008 16:01

Not a medical opinion either but I think it depends on the size of the glass pebbles in relation to the size of his intestines etc. if you see what I mean. It's great they are smooth. However, I would get a medical opinion - maybe initially just by phoning your GP and explaining. Good luck!

artichokes · 01/05/2008 16:03

I am afraid that I would go to A&E. It could cause a bowel obstruction. Also are you 100% certain there were no chips ro cracks in the glass?

Psychomum5 · 01/05/2008 16:04

ok...am gonna ring NHS due to no car right now, but I reckon with the bowel issues I am gonna have to treck to A&E aren;t I.

I think he swollowed jus the one, but am not entirely convinced as he had three, then one, and we not sure about the second IYGWIM.

he is feeling incredibly foolish and is quiet and hid for a short time after as he thought I would yell and scream......nope.....I haven;t.....I am quielty panicking tho!!!!

bloody kids!!! (meant in the nicest possible exasperated way of wourse)

Psycho - is this son the one who got a pencil in his eye??

JodieG1 · 01/05/2008 16:09

Go in case it got stuck somewhere. Dd swallowed a coin and needed an x-ray to make sure it had gone all the way down.

ellceeell · 01/05/2008 16:11

dd2 swallowed one of these when she was 3 so we went to A & E. They said that as she seemed okay just to take her home, keep an eye on her poo (how exactly are you supposed to do that?) but go back straightaway if she started complaining of pain. They said glass wouldn't show up on an xray.

Psychomum5 · 01/05/2008 16:14

argh.......he is hurting and saying they are stuck stil.....on hold...

OP posts:
margoandjerry · 01/05/2008 16:20

if it's causing him pain, just put the phone down and go to A&E. NHS direct will tell you to go there anyway I think.

Psychomum5 · 01/05/2008 16:21

sigh.......am off to A&E as he is complaining of a lot of pain just below his collarbone!!!

he has eaten a biscuit and had a drink which isn;t exactly medical advice but the pain is still there and we can;t be certain that they aren;t stuck.

ho hum....

DH is on his way home via the garage to collect his car, and will hopefully be here in about 20mins.......in the meantime I am to ring 999 if his breathing is compromised.

and no.....tis not I with the son who had the pencil in his eye.....that was tooticky IIRC.

Psychomum5 · 01/05/2008 16:22
