I feel like a new person. I feel brighter, have more energy, smell better - my depression has even lifted and my outlook is more positive. I look better, am loosing pounds already.

I am also drinking loads of water and eating more fruit. It was so, so simple.

I am always amazed at the power of nutrition. I feel truly sorry for kids who are given no alternative other than crappy food. it must be seriously messing them up.

Good for you, what amazing will power you have. I'm glad you feel energised!!

So, tell me what did you not eat? I am starting a detox and this could hlp me.

TIA

PotPourri · 22/04/2008 10:18

Good for you. Not sure I could do it full on like you have - but it definately sounds like there are great incentives once you get over that hurdle of changing. I definately agree with the fruit - you can truely learn to LOVE fruit, more than chocolate. Not that people believe you....!

DettaJnr · 22/04/2008 10:19

I second that. I would be really interested to know. I try to eat healthily but I think if I kept a food diary it might be a different story...

constancereader · 22/04/2008 10:22

I eat like this - unless I am pg!
It is great. You feel so much less sluggish and I don't get water retention either. Giving up bread has the same affect on me. Many people think that fat is the enemy, but I would rather include butter in my diet than sugar. That's why all those low fat products piss me off, they should say high sugar instead.

constancereader · 22/04/2008 10:23

effect I can't believe I did that.

CrushWithEyeliner · 22/04/2008 16:12

I agree CR. Fat is not the enemy at all.

I am actually not cutting that much out - just chocolate, coffee, biscuits, Jam, cake. I am drinking more water, eating more fruit and sitting down and properly chewing my food.

To be honest I have de-toxed loads of times and not felt like this - in fact I felt like poo. It's too severe when you have young children I think and just not fesable to eat nothing all day, for me anyway.

Honestly it is a subtle change but I feel so good. Just wanted to share it LOL.

Oh yes and I am not eating bread either...
it doesn't take that much will power I promise

This is what I'm doing over on the "Lose a stone" thread

AMAZING how hunger reduces also when you cut out the crap

Glad you're feeling better

kittywise · 22/04/2008 16:28

I could happily go without the sweet stuff, but bread, that would be tricky!
I am also hugely needy when it comes to squash so I KNOW I have a sugar problem.

What about wine? And beer?

Do you really feel THAT much better?

Buda · 22/04/2008 16:31

Am thinking of cutting out wheat and crap too. Have Book Club here tonight though so will wait till tomorrow to start!

I know when I am home I nibble on and off all day on bread/cake type things and I really feel myself getting all yucky.

Bluestocking · 22/04/2008 16:35

Good for you, and it's great that such a simple change has made such a big difference to how you feel. But a word of caution to others - I did this for six weeks a few years ago, was really excited about how great I was going to feel, and it made absolutely no difference whatsoever to anything except I lost a couple of pounds, which was fine but I don't have a weight problem so it was no big deal. I think refined sugar is very bad for some people and not so bad for others.

CrushWithEyeliner · 22/04/2008 16:44

I do kitty seriously I feel incredible and my depression has lifted off my shoulders that's why I wanted to post it.

Yes i have a small glass of red every night and still eat cheese - just small amounts. It's not the fat - it's the sugar that is the bloody devils' food.

OP posts:
Threadworm · 22/04/2008 16:46

This is exactly what I want to do. Cut out sugar and cut down on carbohydrates and not worry about fat. I manage it for a few days and food cravings disappear, I have more energy, etc. I know it is good for me but I keep on backsliding and feeling awful.

You are inspiring me to try again crushwith

CrushWithEyeliner · 22/04/2008 16:48

oh god do it - it is ridiculously easy that is why i posted on here. You can do it - after 24 hours you will feel sick at the sight of a choccie bar, honestly.

doggiesayswoof · 22/04/2008 16:50

Seriously though I think this is a great idea, I do have a bit of a sugar habit. Once I get this pg malarkey out of the way I am going to try it and see.

good for you Crush!

waffletrees · 22/04/2008 16:52

Crush - well done. I have done this since January and I have managed to lose 2 stone!!! It was so easy peasy aswell. Now when I do have the odd bit of chocolate I think it tastes disgusting and makes me feel all sluggish. I agree that fat is not the enemy but sugar.

CrushWithEyeliner · 22/04/2008 16:55

so easy.

OP posts:
throckenholt · 22/04/2008 16:56

what do you cut out if you don't eat chocolate, coffee, biscuits, Jam, cake ? Well ok a bit of chocolate but very very rarely the others.

moodlumthehoodlum · 22/04/2008 16:58

good for you Crush, and even better for being so helpful and posting about it. When you say you have cut out all refined sugar, do you mean biscuits cakes, and all processed food? Fruit sugars are presumably alright? What about cereal? What do you have for breakfast?

waffletrees · 22/04/2008 16:59

I just replaced all the sugary crap with fruit. After about a week ALL my food cravings went. For the first time in years I feel in control of food instead of the other way around. Wish I had tried it sooner. I do not count calories, points have green days and hand over a tonne of cash to a slimming club. I have done this all by myself and was so easy.

Threadworm · 22/04/2008 16:59

I'm going to try again, starting from now. Thanks crush.

moodlumthehoodlum · 22/04/2008 17:00

I don't think I really eat a huge amount of the stuff, though, so I don't know that it would make any difference?

Buda · 22/04/2008 17:11

Wow waffletrees! That is impressive - and inspiring! Well done.

moodlum - I don't eat a lot of sweets and chocolate but I know I eat a lot of bread and refined carbs in general. It def makes me feel crap.
