FIT(poo) test from Amazon positive, high sensitivity vs NHs test?

Hello,
I had some bloating, a bit of mucous in stool and some pains and lots of wind lately, visited GP who examined me and said I should do FIt test ( I haven’t yet as I was away)

I ordered some FIT tests meanwhile from Amazon to test my poo myself and today it came out positive.
I am absolutely scared now.
I looked into the test values and it says sensitivity is 50ng/ml.
Now I don’t know what that means, is it highly sensitive or more sensitive than NHS one?
I thought It’s negative in the first 5 minutes and then I looked around 8-9 mins and I saw the faint pink line. I repeated the test as I had two and the same, turned faint pink. .
I read that drinking alcohol can interfere, I had some last night and also I have internal/ external hemoroid which does not cause any issues but I know I got it and sometimes it can get sore if constipation.
Im absolutely worried now. I was to take my child out today and now I totally don’t feel it to even go out.
Anyone understand those values?

@kitkat the abdo scan showed some large bowel dilation however when repeated 3 days later it was all normal and clear. However it confirmed my hernia very clearly.

@Longtimemento the hemoroid only comes out if really constipated or used too much toilet paper otherwise I don’t even know about it.
I had internal one too apparently ( this was findings on Sigmoidoscopy years ago) never noticed any issues with it..
I can’t imagine that would cause bleed? Is that possible?

Of course they can bleed, that is kind of the definition of a haemorrhoid, particularly if it’s an internal one you may not notice small traces of blood but haemorrhoids are well known to give false positives hence why you need to see your gp. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/bowel-cancer-screening/faqs/. “Hemorrhoids are one of the major sources of rectal bleeding, and hemorrhoidal bleeding is likely to be a cause of FP FIT results. As expected, our study showed that hemorrhoids are significantly associated with FP FIT results” ( taken from www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5122631/)

@Norfolkforests in case this wasn’t clear enough SEE YOUR GP ,why anyone thinks an Amazon test is any way reliable I have no idea.

Norfolkforests · 28/09/2024 14:25

@Longtimemento thank you.
I never really noticed them unless they were sore and swollen and I’m not even aware they can bleed if not sore/ swollen or inflamed.
When I had the Abdo scan ultrasound last month I asked the consultant about having a mucous and she said It’s like from the hemoroids causing it.
I guess it could be all from it but that there is not way of distinguishing between unless having colonoscopy which it’s something I’m now absolutely horrified as had one before.
If it would be any non invasive test I probably already be there having it but It’s the colonoscopy what makes it all worse or me.

Nob can talk you into doing anything. It’s your life and your responsibility. You must decide what matters to you most.

Norfolkforests · 29/09/2024 07:31

@Norfolkforests marmalade
If that would be so easy but sadly it's not.
Even to do the prep for colonoscopy, I would have to book into a hotel as Dh is funny about all this..

The other lines are visible when photos are edited ( does that count as positive when photos edited?)

Sorry if that’s harsh…..I wish you well….but only by going to a doctor are you going to get any answers

Norfolkforests · 30/09/2024 09:51

@Kitkat1523 i understand..
It’s just I have an absolute fear of these invasive tests and gather get sick than to go to Dr.
as I said when I was younger I used to go GP with every little silly problem and the more older I’m , I avoid them as scared they find something serious.

Op you probably do have blood in your stool, but it’s probably your hemarroids. You need an nhs test and probably a colonoscopy.

blood in stool is just a symptom it can be many things.

like most lumps in breasts aren’t cancer but normally the only way to be sure is an ultrasound and biopsy.
