Strange fatigue/faint feeling

Hello, I’m seeing my GP soon but I’m sitting here so fed up worrying and wondering about this I just wanted to ask if this sounds familiar to anybody?

Through the day, not every day say 3 days out of 7, I’m getting this weird fatigue that comes over me, it’s not like when you’re tired because you’ve been busy or exercised it’s like something else and I can’t always predict when I’ll get it.

I had it again today, it feels like that feeling when you’re going to black out but no stars and no other faint feeling, it’s so scary, almost feels like you have to blink over and over again, like so tired you can’t even see straight but again not like normal physical tiredness. I’m getting scared as it’s happened once when driving as well.

Are you eating and drinking enough?

Crymeastream564 · 20/09/2024 20:36

It’s good you are seeing the gp op just to rule out anything serious.

Hopefully they will do a blood test.

Also, it probably won’t be this, so don’t be alarmed, but a female friend of mine had overwhelming fatigue like this when she had an undiagnosed heart issue. So best to ask about that too.

Yes I’ll be having cardiac tests they said. Did you friend have chest pain, I don’t have any pain.

You're not taking antihistamines are you? I know there have been a lot of allergies about and even later generation antihistamines can cause drowsiness over time.

Definitely bloods Inc thyroid, full blood count

Could you be pregnant?

Button28384738 · 20/09/2024 20:47

Low blood pressure?
Or Anaemia

Perplexed20 · 20/09/2024 20:48

I'm wondering anemia too.

Fizzy208 · 20/09/2024 20:49

Epilepsy maybe? Could be a simple partial seizure, do you feel anything else during?

AzureSheep · 20/09/2024 20:49

Could be a vitamin d deficiency? Sounds like what someone I know had, and they were prescribed v high strength vitamin d tablets that sorted it out.

Katiehj · 20/09/2024 20:51

@Shitlord No not any antihistamines or pregnant.

@Fizzy208 When it comes on I just feel almost like I’m going to black out, if I could pinpoint anything it’s in days where I’m already a bit tired but not too sure. For example today went to a few shops and on the way back it happened. But no black dots or stars just a weird wave of fatigue and the black out feeling as if I can’t see but I can which makes me wonder about blood pressure as I type it.

OP posts:
Katiehj · 20/09/2024 20:55

I’m hoping anaemia or a deficiency as I’ll be scared if it’s cardiac although I know they can sort that when caught.

Have you got access to a blood pressure monitor?

Katiehj · 20/09/2024 20:56

Perimenopause gave me this feeling for 3-4 years before I understood the reason, while at the same time being sent for all sort of irrelevant tests. Could it be your case? It tended to happen to me in the afternoon on the way back from work.

Yeah I did wonder! I’m 40. I do have some brain fog, I forgot to mention which kind of highlights the fact!! Grin

LittleMissDaisyyy · 20/09/2024 21:25

Could your sugars be low? Possible diabetes?

Cooroo · 20/09/2024 21:55

I have low ish blood pressure which occasionally makes me feel faint or actually pass out. Does it help if you lie down and raise your legs on something? (Awkward in supermarket...). I respond instantly to that.

Aslican · 20/09/2024 21:59

Could be fluctuating blood pressure or POTS. Can also be a symptom of migraines/aura that don’t necessarily cause head pain.

Julieace · 20/09/2024 22:07

If it is Perimenopause, do you have any irregular periods, heavy? This can cause tiredness, heartbeat can be fast, not enough energy. Eating healthy, boost up with some iron foods. Ask GP to check your blood tests.

Katiehj · 20/09/2024 21:22

It didn't clear until I started HRT, then it quickly went away. I still occasionally suffer from it but only if I don't get HRT for a while, e.g. due to shortages.

Reactive hypoglycemia?
