This is highly embarrassing so name changed!
I do now occasionally suffer from these delights!
Usually it happens after I eat something like today- came from work and I ate 4 slices of cheddar on its own on empty stomach or the other day I drunk some Pepsi max on empty stomach too.
Is this normal after these foods? I don’t think I have a lactose intolerance as I drink/ eat full fat milk/yoghurts and no issues.
The other day I had instant coffee ( Nescafé satchets) with single cream and yep, happened again!
what’s even wet fart? When it happened for the first time it actually scared me!
Now I take a spare undies to work!
( btw I’m 51 yr old)

Cringe but it’s happened to me too a few times! As you see from my user name my guts give me gyp. Have been investigated from top to bottom and have reflux but that’s it. I also had h pylori but that was treated.
I seem to be worse when I eat oats and/or a lot of fibre. I become a fart machine and have done these wet farts on occasion. Once at work 🤦‍♀️ i have to be able to expel wind but if I can’t due to where I am then wind will come out anyway. I am early 50s, post-meno.

I’ve had Cronhs most of my life. Never trust a fart!

longdistanceclaraclara · 11/09/2024 16:56

The joys of a shart. Yes happens to me. I have IBS d

timenowplease · 11/09/2024 17:03

You might want to start doing some pelvic floor exercises.

Autumnlightss · 11/09/2024 17:14

@timenowplease yes, that’s going too.. Anytime I sneeze I pee a bit and I didn’t even had vaginal birth!

Time to get squeezing then!

LateMumma · 11/09/2024 21:06

So you have a low carb/keto diet OP? I've had this happen on low carb 😳

ForPearlViper · 11/09/2024 21:29

You actually expect a real qualified, overworked Doctor, on their time off, to respond to this?

DatingDinosaur · 11/09/2024 21:54

That's menopause for you Grin

Autumnlightss · 12/09/2024 09:00

@LateMumma idont know. I don’t have any diets.
Just eat rubbish really.
no breakfast, only milky coffee, then some random snack after lunch like brioche and nothing until dinner time which is usually some quickie as well. I’m not a cook or can’t cook . Or and chocolate maybe between..

@DatingDinosaur is it? I’m scared to ask my friends who are similar age as highly embarrassed..
Hence asking anonymously here.. I wouldn’t even say to DH!

Dairy (especially cheese and chocolate) and spicy food affect me in that way, also wine. It sounds like you need to improve your diet.

Harsh. Nobody is forced to respond to anything on here. A doctor might like to respond if they feel like it - and many do, to various queries on this site - but the OP isn't holding a gun to their heads.

DeliciousApples · 12/09/2024 20:38

Anything with artificial sweeteners is bad for the gut. Check labels as they hide them in everything nowadays.

Don't eat too much of any one thing on it's own, especially veg. That can be a trigger for tummy issues too.

Eat a mix of things ie a healthy balanced diet and you should be fine.

Cantinfluenceme · 12/09/2024 20:42

No advice but I sympathise. Recently went on a run and pooed my pants. Awful experience.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 12/09/2024 20:47

Sounds like you have a lactose intolerance

Aussieland · 13/09/2024 05:52

Caffeine?

NeedANewOne25 · 13/09/2024 06:02

I was going to say caffeine too. Coffee nearly always makes me need to go to the bathroom in the morning if I have two. It’s common.

StamppotAndGravy · 13/09/2024 06:13

I only get it if I'm constipated. Its like the solid can't come out so the fluid has to. If you only eat rubbish, that's also as likely.

romdowa · 13/09/2024 06:18

It's probably your diet if your only eating rubbish. Try change that first

Kittensat36 · 13/09/2024 06:42

Ah, Snow Days - the days when no fart is to be trusted and I eat immodium like sweeties.

I have had these for several years and have never worked out what’s causing it, other than the menopause. Restricted my diet excluding this, that and the other. No good.

The good news is that it's not as frequent as it was. It might tail off for you too.

No help, just solidarity really.

She’s not expecting, she’s asking, and they’ll either reply or they won't.
Loads of people on here work in specialised, overworked professions and still take the time to offer some advice whilst they’re browsing.

ThatMakesSense · 13/09/2024 06:50

Look at changing your diet - it doesn't sound very healthy tbh.

theDudesmummy · 13/09/2024 06:55

I don't have any advice as I am the "wrong" speciality of doctor, but I am a "real qualified overworked" doctor and I still browse MN and sometimes give advice if it's something I know about! Doctors are humans and they don't work 24/7 you know!

Wouldn't surprise me. My digestion generally has changed - and not in a good way - since I was late 40s. Things just start going wrong as we age.

I took it as a wake up call to have a lifestyle change, which has helped.
