I really don't feel well

Hey

Just wanted to run this by someone. Have appointment Monday but worried it's just a bug and wasting time. I'm not a doctor person for me. Just for kids 😞

I've not been feeling, physically, great for a while.

I take citalopram for post natal anxiety. Two years now. Four children.

Two weeks ago my toenails started falling off. I now have four gone. As a country person and with now horse injuries this is odd

Maybe the last four weeks I've felt very anxious, like heart flutters, when not anxious. Fast heart?

I feel very sick.

On Thursday I felt dizzy all day. When I move or turn.

The dizzy has continued. I'm not sleeping and I love my sleep. Family joke. I'm on my own mostly, but if DH appears off tractor for breakfast I'm napping for ten minutes.

My fit bit died so I bought a cheap Amazon one. Dropping heart to 55 but also high at 112

I just don't feel like me. A little spaced.

Any insight? Opinions?

Have you rung 111?

heldinadream · 24/08/2024 20:46

No idea lovely but I'm glad you're going to the Dr. Toenails falling off does not sound like a bug. Take care of yourself please.

DustyMaiden · 24/08/2024 20:47

I had similar with b12 deficiency

Theleaveswillbefalling · 24/08/2024 20:49

Could be anemia.

byteme1011 · 24/08/2024 20:52

i was the same with anemia in terms of dizziness and nails but might be your thyroid, go get your bloods done please defo not wasting the doctor's time!

lmhj · 24/08/2024 20:55

Not rang 111. Rang doctor Friday as I felt so upset. I'm the positive person. Said Monday.

Today I just feel wiped out which is silly. Three kids back at school. One nursery.

Very rural. Hospital an hour away has said no admission unless life threatening so I'm not going there.

Weird question but have you been craving ice at all?

lmhj · 24/08/2024 20:59

@Tootjaskoot very cold water.

BrendaSmall · 24/08/2024 21:01

Omy!
how strange,
lately I’ve had 4 toe nails come off, never really thought about why!
I constantly feel tired, put it down to working long days and on my feet running around all the time I’m at work

Tootjaskoot · 24/08/2024 21:01

Others have mentioned anaemia, and when my daughter had / has it, ice craving is one of the signs. Not sure if cold water is the same, but it would be worth mentioning it when you see doctor. Hope you get well soon

lmhj · 24/08/2024 21:02

@BrendaSmall I never thought either until I started to write about the dizzy sick and thought I would be complete😅 toenails may be completely unrelated

Very strange!
id just be grateful for a good night sleep and not to feel rubbish all the time!

lmhj · 24/08/2024 21:05

@BrendaSmall oh no. Perhaps you need checked up as well?

OP posts:
Differentstarts · 24/08/2024 21:16

Try not to worry they will do a blood test and it will most likely be something like anemia which is easily sorted

PanettoneSoprano · 24/08/2024 21:25

Have any of your children recently had hand foot and mouth?

My finger and toenails started flaking off about 2 years ago and the doctor said it was likely I caught it off my DD and hadn't realised, and that the blisters were in my nail beds.

You should definitely try and see a GP though.

QueenOfTheSouth123 · 24/08/2024 21:30

How old are you OP? Other than the toenails you have just described my exact perimenopause symptoms. I went through all kinds of investigations before I realised what it was - an ecg then 7-day heart monitor thing for the heart flutters/palpitations, echocardiogram for the weird differences in heart rate (my resting heart rate was hovering around 45 bpm) and terrible dizziness/lightheadness with low blood pressure. And just crippling anxiety that I'd never had before in my life which absolutely floored me.

All tests were inconclusive. First doctor said vitamin D. Next one said antidepressants, and these did help the anxiety. But the heart rate issues and dizziness only went away when I started HRT. Which I did privately as it was during lockdown. But neither of the first two doctors mentioned anything about the menopause even though I was 49 at the time.

I also felt much better once I ditched the fitbit and stopped checking my heart rate!

lmhj · 24/08/2024 21:37

@QueenOfTheSouth123 41. Though that has crossed my mind. 😢

@PanettoneSoprano no bug free for summer. Preparing for next onslaught

I thought peri as well. I was probably about 41 when I started feeling ‘ill’. I get very dizzy. Make sure you are properly hydrated.

Aquamarine1029 · 24/08/2024 21:48

My peri-menopause started with a bang at 40, and everything turned to shite quite quickly, so don't rule out the possibility that this may be contributing. Thankfully, I started HRT quickly and have felt great since.

As well as a normal blood panel, I would get tested for Lyme Disease. I have a very close relative who suffered for ages until they were finally properly diagnosed, and their symptoms were similar.

luminousloops · 24/08/2024 22:37

Please dont put this down to meno, every excuse going on here see's a woman's age and uses that.
When you say you are on your own 'mostly', what does this mean?
If you live on a farm, why are you mostly alone if your DH works on the land?

Loneliness can creep. It doesnt matter how resilient or introverted we are, it can really chafe away over time.

The amount of time you are alone stuck out to me. I could be completely wrong and this is fine for you, but worth a mention. if you have 4 kids, and spend most of your time alone, it might produce a sort of imbalance?

luminousloops · 24/08/2024 22:39

By the way, meno and peri just made me notice stuff more.
It didn't take away my resilience or fuck with my head.
If anything, it made me wiser. I was able to account for the issues in my life, which became more prescient at this time.
Often, meno can be a powerful time for women, not merely a disability. It can highlight dissatisfactions and open up new ideas.

RosieFlamingo · 24/08/2024 22:47

I was very similar with low b12.

CallingElfRescue · 24/08/2024 23:12

I also came on to say I had very similar symptoms when I was diagnosed with b12 deficiency. Much better now I'm no longer deficient.

Also, I'm on citalopram too and I do get the odd dizzy day, I feel a bit shaky similar to low blood sugar feeling.

With the toenails, this can happen if you've been around hand foot and mouth disease. Just a thought.

Betyouthinkthissongisaboutyou · 24/08/2024 23:14

Check thyroid too.
