Dental Implants - Turkey

Hi.

Has anyone been to Turkey for dental implants? Can you tell me about your experience, price you paid/how long you've had them and how you're getting on with them in general.

I know ppl will say don't go/horror stories etc. But I really couldn't afford to get them done here! I had a free consultation a few weeks ago but ended up paying £130 for securing the appointment and then scans. I was quoted just over £4500 for two implants and will also need a bone graft. I just simply cannot afford this! 😔 I suspect I'll need bone grafting at all the sites as I've had missing teeth for years.

For background: I have several teeth missing (3 sites missing teeth. Bottom left 2 together, right 2 together and upper right 2 together. Abscesses, failed root canal etc). It's making it hard for me to eat on one side as there's gaps on my lower jaw as well as almost directly above too. I had a bridge on the upper right for years but recently it keeps falling off 3 x since late last year. I was told if it comes out again (which it did) my adjacent teeth will need filing down etc to help secure a new bridge. I don't want to lose anymore of my natural teeth if I can help it. These two are close to the front. They are visible when I laugh, smile and talk. I'm constantly self conscious now too. I've developed some sort of click on one side of my jaw, it really hurts the entire side of my face when it happens. Don't know if it's related to my missing teeth. I've cracked a bit of an adjacent back tooth but feel I'm overusing it to eat.

Every few months the gums along the bottom get sore. Ulcerated and painful. This has been happening for years and it's depressing. It also makes it hard to eat because of the pain and just generally not having teeth. I'm not that old (<40) and the thought of going on like this for God knows how long just fills me with dread!

Sorry I know it's long and don't know what topic to post under but thank you for reading.

You can get full dentures that can be screwed in permanently in the same way dental implants are screwed in individually, at a fraction of the cost.

I think with that shopping list of complications I would be going to a British clinical at home, with insurance, a duty of care, and follow up treatments. It sounds like you're prone to complications so I doubt that getting the implants would be the end of it for you.

Thank you all for your experiences and replies. I have decided to stick to the UK for implants and will be having them done at intervals due to cost.

I have found someone that I am happy to use (Kiss dental, Manchester). The dentist was lovely, well experienced and put me at ease during the consultation. Reasonably ish priced too and offered a bit of a deal if paid upfront. Well, compared to the last one anyway. They haven't even bothered to get back to me with answers to some questions I still had (synergy dental).

Need to save up a bit and will hopefully go ahead with treatment during the year.

I'm due to have an implant put in this year, it's an upper front tooth. Do you have a visible gap at any time during the process? I currently have a temp tooth on a plate while my gum heals.

My dentist gave me a temporary bridge when I had mine last year. I also had a shiner when the implant went in!!!

Mine also took 5 months from start to finish and cost £4,200 (including bone graft and I had to have the original tooth out as it was a failed crown). I'm really pleased with the result but the cost was eye watering 😂

Thank you for your response, mine's also due to a failed crown. Why did you have a shiner?! I hope you're happy with the implant, how has it felt since getting it?

I don't know how I got a black eye, just him rummaging around I guess! I'm absolutely overjoyed with the tooth, I can eat apples etc for the first time in years without the worry of my crown falling out. It looks perfect.

I can see a few suggestions to go to Brighton implant clinic. I had a consultation with one of their dentists which included a scan. Said dentist reviewed scan in front of me and was eerily silent. I asked if all was ok and the response was "I can see a shadow" fast forward to dentist not feeling anything sinister but because of scan putting me on 2week pathway to a consultant in a hospital over 100 miles away, dentist mentioned I could have a mass in throat / neck. Which didn't make sense as it was a jaw scan. Consultant confirmed it was an "artifact". Essentially a smudge on the scan. The ordeal left me petrified to go to dentists and have scans... so make sure you get a competent dentist who would re-scan in such circumstances!!!!
