My horrible verruca

hoarahloux · 03/06/2024 20:44

I've had a single verruca directly on the ball of my foot for several years.

Its positioning means any patch or plaster doesn't last, even if I hobble about on the side of my foot all day or tape it on. I've tried various gels and freezing treatments, the surface peels off and I think "oh, it's gone!" but the fucking thing goes so deep. The best was the Scholl treatment pen, that stopped it being painful to walk on, I had a crater in my foot, and I really thought it had killed it, but the crater healed and it's still there.

NHS won't touch it, I can't afford to go private. Is there a treatment that actually works?

Have you tried duct tape or nail varnish?

OnceICaughtACold · 03/06/2024 20:50

I had a massive one for years, tried all sorts. Woke up one morning and it was gone. So weird. Just sharing to give you hope!

Have you tried duct tape or nail varnish?

As I say, nothing sticky stays on it because I have to be able to walk. Even duct tape.

Silver spray got rid of mine painlessly.

FayK · 03/06/2024 21:10

We tried all the usual remedies and spent a lot of money at a podiatrist but what eventually seemed to
work for my daughter was a homeopathic remedy called Thuja. Tablets daily and cream directly on the verucca.

Whoknowswhatanymore · 03/06/2024 21:11

This may sound ludicrous and I’ll probably get bad press but have you tried thuja homeopathy pills for this? My daughter had this and we tried everything and it was the only thing that worked - it claims to work from the inside out. Dissolve the tiny sugar pearl under the tongue daily for several weeks and see what happens. Like I said, worked for us! Holland and Barrett. Good luck 🤞🏻

Whoknowswhatanymore · 03/06/2024 21:12

Wow crossed post with @FayK that says something!

Trinity69 · 03/06/2024 21:13

They do go on their own eventually (I had a huge cluster right on my heal for years). I picked, dug, cut and poked and the bloody thing wouldn’t go. Then all of a sudden it went on its own. Rumour has it you’re also immune if you leave it to go on its own.

Mouswife · 03/06/2024 21:14

My daughter saw a chiropodist twice, the stuff they used was like a salt/acid. Went immediately

DNAHOY · 03/06/2024 21:15

I would appreciate a picture

missl1 · 03/06/2024 21:16

If it's not causing you pain just leave it and it will go eventually like everyone else says. Any random home treatments like duct tape, tea tree, etc are just pure coincidental timing with the verruca deciding to go of it's own accord. You can go with the freezing, needling route with a professional but that costs money and takes time too.

Wallabyone · 03/06/2024 21:16

Honestly, I know you say you can't afford it, but for £48 a brilliant podiatrist got rid of my child's very, very stubborn verruca. It was amazing. She says filing at home tends to make them multiply, and there are two treatments that she does. Luckily the first one worked for us...not as expensive as I thought it would be.

PilchardsonToast · 03/06/2024 21:18

I had one for years, couldn't shift it at all...until I got these Chinese medicine plasters, don't know what they do but they work! DS had a verruca which they sorted in no time

My son went to see someone who treated his verrucas with needles (not an acupuncturist, he was a podiatrist)- it provokes an immune response and really works to get rid of them. We had tried everything for years and this worked within a week.

fieldsofbutterflies · 03/06/2024 21:19

I had a massive one on the ball of my foot for years, I used a patch then duct-taped it on by wrapping the tape right around my foot.

Shiremum40 · 03/06/2024 21:22

Cotton wool soaked in Apple cider vinegar and hold it in place for as long as possible. You will be able to tape it, use lots and cut ‘v’ shapes in the tape to help it fit.

Also, anything that improves your general health. For example, Stop smoking, take some vitamins and get some sleep.

Onemoret1me · 03/06/2024 21:30

I had a podiatrist come to my house for £30. She filed my feet and recommended zinc oxide tape.
I had a cluster of half a dozen verrucas, the first had been there approx 8 years. I’d tried everything to get rid of it.
after she’d filed my foot and I religiously applied zinc tape it dissapeared within two weeks

the position of it meant it was difficult to get the tape to stay put but I just taped most of my foot repeatedly and file every couple of days myself

i couldn’t believe how they just dissapeared after trying on and off for years

Oooh ... I've had a verruca for 21 years now! I've tried creams, crystals, zapping, gels, garlic, swift treatment @ £450, freezing, burning with acid, Cold laser therapy, Spirularin VS treatment, antimonium Crudum homeopathic remedy, nail varnish and duct tape and still have verruca. Haven't tried thuja homeopathic remedy though so will order some now.
Have also heard about needling (also that it's painful) and for having it surgically removed.
I have heard it is to do with immunity which no matter what I seem to do taking various supplements including spirulina, I have low immunity.
Keeping an eye on this post. Really wishing you all the best with yours OP

My greatest achievement in life was getting rid of a cluster on my ds' foot. He must have had 20 of varying depths. I had to be persistent for weeks - applying bazuka and removing and reapplying every night. Some were easy, some stubborn. Thankfully they haven't returned.

Cheeesus · 03/06/2024 22:35

Over the duct tape, use a longer length of tape. It can go round the sides of your foot.

Stuff like this

Use a larger piece of duct tape too maybe.

UnderMontanaSkies · 03/06/2024 23:18

Another vote for Apple cider vinegar, brilliant stuff! Got rid of warts and verrucas for me at various points over the years.

AzureBlue99 · 03/06/2024 23:26

My husband had a bad cluster on one of his feet. He spent a lot at a chiropodist. We had a violent neighbour at the time, we couldn't go on holiday in case he broke in. He got moved on, we immediately went on holiday. My husband relaxed, and within the week's holiday in the sun, the cluster of veruccas permanently left. I think there is a mind body connection to some of these minor but irritating ailments. It affects the immune system.

Was there a swimming pool involved?

Twenty years ago as a teenager I had warts on my feet that went away after significant swimming pool chlorine exposure. Of course I wouldn't do that again because warts can be infectious to other people.

Honestly, I'll never ask for medical advice here again! Homeopathy, "just relax and meditate, they go away by themselves" "I've had a verruca for 20 years and nothing has helped" "but have you tried sugar drops under your tongue?"

I do use ACV for various other things, so might try that one, thank you.

Podiatrist here, the only one that actually works is dry needling but it is at least £300.
It may just up and disappear on it's own eventually, they normally do.
If you can't afford any treatment apply gaffa tape on top of it every single day religiously and pick the top skin off with scissors, it doesn't matter if you bleed, they are bleedy things, as long as you are not immuno compromised, and it will go in time.

Did we just ignore this obvious fetish post? No! You're not getting a photo of my feet!
