I had piles when pregnant and they were awful but never like this. None in the 2 years since. Until now. This is a haemorrhoid I assume, thrombosed? It's absolute agony. I'm calling in sick to work because I can't walk! I can't sleep either I'm lying here in tears and the desperate feeling is building up to the point I want to go to A&E before stab it and see it relieves the pain

I'm so sorry, it's so gross, but I'm so embarrassed and don't know what's going on or why I'm so much pain I haven't even been constipated, I don't know why it's like this

If the pain is that severe then yes you should go.

PhDinaseive · 23/04/2024 22:35

GP appointment. A and E isn't a short cut to a consultant

Haggisfish3 · 23/04/2024 22:36

I disagree with pp. I would either a and e or call 111. The pain is horrendous. My gp told me to fill rubber gloves with water and freeze them-you can use the ice fingers in the area (in a tea towel).

yelpingwheniwalk · 23/04/2024 22:36

I've been using germoloids and sheriproct ointment and suppositories and ice it's just not touching it I've never been in so much pain with something

oh poor you, this is awful!! if this is haemorrhoid that got trapped and has no back blood flow (is this what "thrombosed" means?) then you need to go to A&E. It needs to be put back. I had the same thing after birth, luckily, someone at my GP practice knew how to deal with it and he made it go back - I assume by pushing it back somehow? it was pailful but quick. Before, it was an absolute agony. But it was fine once treated.
big hug x

localnotail · 23/04/2024 22:43

If you are in pain go to A&E. You cant walk, ffs? How much worse can it get?

I despair sometimes at English people (I'm not English myself). "Its only a flesh wound, no bother..." while literally falling apart.

Go to A&E please.

Orangesandlemons82 · 23/04/2024 22:44

If you are in so much pain it is reasonable to go or call 111 and see if they have any useful suggestions? Don't lay in pain, do get help. I have never had a thrombosed one before but I know someone who did and they said it was by far the worst pain they had experienced.

111 will only make her go to A&E.

ThatsNotAKnifeThatsASpoon · 23/04/2024 22:48

How long have you been using scheriproct for? For bad cases you can try doubling the dose of suppositories (I.e. halve the waiting time before next dose), initially at least.

If someone is in so much pain they can’t walk then an and e is exactly where they should be!

OrlandointheWilderness · 23/04/2024 22:59

@YeahComeOnThen I'd rather chuck out a tea towel than get ice burns there!!
Yep a&e. If you are in that much pain you need it addressing.

SabreIsMyFave · 23/04/2024 23:01

God that is horrific! Shock

I would go to A & E with that!

You poor poor thing. I've had this several times due to pregnancy/giving birth and there are no words to describe the pain. If you're getting that horrific feeling of it contracting, where you know the pain is about to become excruciating, then I found pushing out against it as if passing wind stopped that dreadful nipping sensation. Sorry I've described that so badly, but anyone who has experience of this will know the feeling I mean.

Babyroobs · 23/04/2024 23:21

I went to surgical admissions unit with similar ( sent by out of hours) but they wouldn't do anything there and then. It will settle down. best thing is some suppositories of gel prescribed by GP ( Proctosydl ) maybe one of those post partum sanitary towel shaped ice packs if someone can go to the chemist and buy one for you. Hope things improve soon, they are horrendous.

Floralnomad · 23/04/2024 23:22

I would call 111 , they may get you a GP appointment tonight rather than hanging about in A&E . Hope you get it sorted

crunche · 23/04/2024 23:43

You poor thing. Go get some help, you don't have to suffer like this.

Haggisfish3 · 23/04/2024 23:46

Erm, yes-my tea towels are washed at hot temps and would iron one before I used it like that-perfectly bloody sterile!

Nkkas · 23/04/2024 23:49
