Graphic photo. Desperate. Possible thrombosed hemerroid? I literally want to go to A&E

I had piles when pregnant and they were awful but never like this. None in the 2 years since. Until now. This is a haemorrhoid I assume, thrombosed? It's absolute agony. I'm calling in sick to work because I can't walk! I can't sleep either I'm lying here in tears and the desperate feeling is building up to the point I want to go to A&E before stab it and see it relieves the pain

I'm so sorry, it's so gross, but I'm so embarrassed and don't know what's going on or why I'm so much pain I haven't even been constipated, I don't know why it's like this

If it's any consolation, I've got a thread going right now about going to A&E with a prick from a thorn... consultant told me I'd done the right thing. Get yourself to A&E now.

MegsNaiceJam · 24/04/2024 00:24

A&E is fine for this due to severe pain. I know that pain of old. Hope you feel better soon.

Duckingella · 24/04/2024 01:26

Go to A&E or call 999 if you have piles and:

•	you're bleeding non-stop
•	there's a lot of blood – for example, the toilet water turns red or you see large blood clots
•	you're in severe pain

What we mean by severe pain
Severe pain:
• always there and so bad it's hard to think or talk
• you cannot sleep
• it's very hard to move, get out of bed, go to the bathroom, wash or dress

The above is from the NHS website so the OP wouldn't be wasting anyone's time by attending A & E.

@YeahComeOnThen I'd rather chuck out a tea towel than get ice burns there!!
Yep a&e. If you are in that much pain you need it addressing.

@OrlandointheWilderness

youvdidnt mention throwing it out! Most of MN would put it in the next wash then back with the tea towels!

🤮

MumOfOneAwesomeHuman · 24/04/2024 06:09

Appreciate this won't help you now (and I think a&e is the best call right now) but as someone who has intermittently suffered since pregnancy, I've discovered that taking Venoforce (avail on Amazon) I don't get them at all. Ince you have this sorted maybe give it a try.

@YeahComeOnThen I didn't make the original comment! 😂
Most of MN probably would, yes 😂

Clarich007 · 24/04/2024 09:25

What did you do OP ?.
I really hope you can get some help soon.
I literally feel your pain.
It happened to me last Friday.
I was at work, and felt a sharp pain followed by a horrible slithering feeling.
I wasn't sure what it was but knew I was in trouble.
Mine is the size of a smalll plum. It's horrendous.
Rang the doctor straight away and got a prescription.
Had a horrible painful weekend then on Sunday night it popped and gushed. Was awful, but relieved the pain a bit.
I'm living in what feel like nappies.I managed to get an appointment with the doctor on Monday.
She tried to put it back, that was eye watering but she couldn't do it.
An urgent referral to the colo-rectal dept, but that could be weeks.
So meanwhile I'm in pain and bleeding all the time.
It's crap OP.
Sympathies from me.

Princesspollyyy · 25/04/2024 18:47

How are you now OP? @yelpingwheniwalk

coxesorangepippin · 26/04/2024 03:04

How are you feeling, op?

💐

KomodoOhno · 26/04/2024 06:04

Please go to ER at once

Cattyisbatty · 26/04/2024 06:30

Dh is having this very issue and he’s been told to go to a&e today if the sheriproct hasn’t improved things overnight.
He did an E-consult yesterday and got an appointment for a week’s time 🙄 . He then went to walk-in who said a&e today if no improvement so if it won’t go in it’s def an a&e job. He is barely sleeping and is in a lot of pain.
We were talking last night about how ‘in the old days’ you could make an emergency GP appt and they’d either send you to hospital there and then or have minor surgical clinic at the surgery. Ridix that he’ll wait hours in a&e now.

RacingLine · 26/04/2024 07:21

I get these. Doctor told me they can cut them open to relieve the pain and pressure and drain them but more often than not, they leave them as they usually self resolve within 10-14 days

I've had 2. The first one I had to sit on a rubber ring as I couldn't sit down! Next one at least I knew what was coming. I'm now super careful about what I eat. I have a good diet anyway but I'm terrified of getting more!

RacingLine · 26/04/2024 07:51

If it's any consolation the doctor told me it's one of the most painful conditions but at least it's usually short lived

crunche · 08/05/2024 23:11

How are things now?

SlowRobin · 22/02/2025 06:31

Just want to chip in. I had a thrombosed hemmerroid in both my pregnancies. Prescribed instillagel to numb the area (sort of worked) along with fibrogel to help avoid further constipation. Anusol did nothing for the pain. Germoloid was slightly better. The one thing that made a difference for me was Sudocrem. I don't know why or how, but it seemed to fix it both times within a day. Its absolute agony so I just wanted to share in here for anyone else going through this!!

Hiya!

im having the exact same problem after having my second baby, it’s not HUGE but its big enough and i think thrombosed. I’ve been prescribed sheriproct so giving that a go . I will try sudocrem too, how long did it take to work? And was your haemorrhoid big? I have all sorts of horrible images in my mind about what will have to be done and I just want them to go down. I know they can never go permanently but I just want some hope that they will go down.
