Heartrate of over 200bpm for a few hours.

catnippy · 02/04/2024 03:17

I passed a large wriggling worm from my bottom. I am not joking.

SkiingIsHeaven · 02/04/2024 03:37

Nose instantly blocked and my throat was closing up and I was struggling to breathe due to an undiagnosed nut allergy. Lots of other things going on at the same time. I really thought I was going to die.

Inguinal hernia that wouldn’t go back ‘in’ and vomiting from the pain

Yikes! Im
having mine repaired in a few weeks to mitigate against this!!

First shower after c section felt very faint, light headed, dizzy, couldn’t see. I had to ring the emergency buzzer and all these midwives came running.

My iron was low. My first blood test post birth showed it was normal but they retested and it came back low. So was resolved but it was very scary.

StealthSpinach · 02/04/2024 05:59

Suddenly feeling detached from my body, trying to make myself press the emergency call button whilst sitting on the toilet after major surgery (removing part of my skull and adhesions on spinal cord). Then nothing.
Coming around with 5 nurses crowded in the ensuite, one with her hands wedged between my head and the basin. She just managed to catch me before I smashed my surgery site.

MelissaLouRocks · 02/04/2024 07:18

Waking up in ITU not knowing what happened.

Turned out I had an acute kidney injury due to heavy duty antibiotics after a ruptured appendix, and I was placed in an induced coma for 2 weeks.

Maybe this thread needs a trigger warning!

GMH1974 · 02/04/2024 19:21

Ruptured bowel and gangrene.

fightingthedogforadonut · 02/04/2024 19:26

Not serious but I used to be a big fainter when I was younger. That feeling of sweating and drifting towards unconsciousness is horrible

SkyeLou · 02/04/2024 19:42

Perforated bowel which then developed in to sepsis. So so painful that I felt like I wanted to die.

Mammyloveswine · 02/04/2024 19:44

When I couldn't breathe due to a pulmonary embolism and pneumonia.

PutOnYourRedShoesAndLetsDance · 02/04/2024 19:52

When l got thrown under a bus by an ex.
Left for dead ( now disabled) he got jailed for attempted murder.
Been in pain ever since for 36. years

Switcher · 02/04/2024 19:58

Humans are both very fragile and incredibly resilient, it's a strange paradox. Easy to see how we can overfocus on either end of this.

overthinkersanonnymus · 02/04/2024 19:59

Depersonalisation for 18 months. I was on the verge of a psychotic breakdown.

And a lump in my breast that was ,thankfully, nothing to worry about.

KeepingItUnderTheRadar · 02/04/2024 20:03

My first ocular migraine.

No pain, no symptoms except flashing lights. Then I realised I couldn't read, the words on the page just faded away half way through. Then suddenly I was about 60% blind.

It was utterly terrifying, I thought I was having a stroke and about to drop dead.

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 02/04/2024 20:14

Hemiplegia in 2 hrs. Terrifying.

user1471453601 · 02/04/2024 20:20

On the other hand, the least scary symptoms I had was an ache in my shoulder and a tingling in my little finger.

I had a lung cancer. These were my only symptoms.

Scary symptoms and scary diagnosis don't always go together.

Acute episode of cholecystitis. Honestly thought I was dying from the pain, and even morphine didn't touch the sides. Remember being admitted from A & E to a ward at 3am and trying not to scream the place down. Awful awful pain. The sort that makes you question your sanity.
