Molluscum - any advice?

MolluscumHell · 18/02/2024 21:47

My 3 year old DD has molluscum for 6 months now and they are spreading quite badly now from her legs to torso and arms.

I know these self resolve in 6-18 months but we look a long way away from this being the end.

We are currently putting burts bees cream on them every day but even thats a nightmare.....she has 100+ spots and stubborn.....she doesnt want cream!

Does anyone have any advice on how to tackle this? I know there are far greater issues in this world today but its so tiring trying to keep on top of these little spots to stop them from spreading.

Honestly, nothing we tried worked. They stopped appearing after about three years. Ds had lots and loads of them got infected. Sorry.

Pinkiepromise789 · 18/02/2024 21:51

I blasted them with a Philips Lumea and it worked! I had one at home and thought it was worth trying, if you know someone who has one it's an idea x

Only thing that worked for DD was swimming in the sea!

TangoinTokyo · 18/02/2024 21:53

Burst them and pop the head out
DD had them for years until I did this and they were gone in 6 weeks.

SecretLifeOfAMole · 18/02/2024 21:54

We popped them and out a dab of tea tree oil on them which is AGAINST medical advice but worked for us when nothing else did 🤷‍♀️

Riceball · 18/02/2024 21:58

It’s against medical advice but we found if you pop one or two of the big ones and put plasters on them the others seemed to dry up.

SecretLifeOfAMole · 18/02/2024 22:05

I think it's supposed to trigger the bodies immune system which for some reason leaving them alone doesn't. Anyway, we popped them and they went. Also it was satisfying Blush

Familiaritybreedscontemptso · 18/02/2024 22:08

Yes popping them was the only thing that made them go here. Just a few of the bigger ones. We also used calendula cream which seemed to help.

Superfoodie123 · 18/02/2024 22:08

Colloidal silver sprayed all over, once dried put msm silver cream all over. My daughters lasted 10 days because of this treatment. My heart goes out to you, molluscum is nasty

TaVeryMuchLove · 18/02/2024 22:09

Soak in the bath followed by a (fairly firm) rub over with a clean towel triggered the immune response and the spots all started to come to a head at the same time. After that they went.

Jonnycakes · 18/02/2024 22:11

To echo the posters above, my DS popped one on his little brother (messing about with a clothes peg, trying to grab them, nipped one off, excellent parenting moment, I’m aware) Anyway they just started drying up and were gone within a few weeks. It triggers the anti bodies apparently.

RokaRokaRoka · 18/02/2024 22:19

Agree with the comments saying pop one or 2.. i agitated some and popped a couple. Made sure everything was clean etc
All gone in a few weeks

PeopleAreWeird · 18/02/2024 22:20

Find the Mother one ! The biggest ugly one and burst that bugger

PeopleAreWeird · 18/02/2024 22:21

If you pop the biggest one, it brings on an immune response and they go.
But wears gloves and keep it very clean

SabrinaThwaite · 18/02/2024 22:28

I used cider vinegar to agitate the biggest one, then it popped and all the rest quickly disappeared after that. They are horrible and you have my sympathy.

Gymmum82 · 18/02/2024 22:32

Dds went after a couple got infected and burst. We also used molludab at the same time. Not sure which was the effective thing but whatever it was stimulated the bodies immune response and they all went very quickly. She had them for months before though

aperolspritzbasicbitch · 18/02/2024 22:35

Witch hazel worked on my dd

neonjumper · 18/02/2024 22:49

We used colloidal silver spray as well . I don't know if it was just a coincidence y that it worked, as at the same time a big one got caught in a zipper and burst !

Squiffy01 · 18/02/2024 22:58

I am working on getting rid of my sons at the moment. Will try and take a photo of what we are using in the morning, can’t remember what it is called.

I’m jealous of the people that have aggravated a few and then the lot disappeared the only ones that are disappearing for us are the ones that we aggravate so it’s a slow process but nearly there.

SkyeB86 · 18/02/2024 23:12

My dd had these when she was about 6 for what seemed like forever. In reality it was about 6 months - I didn't find anything that helped. But when they did decide to go, it was literally overnight, and within a week, no trace of them! Hope it's the same for your DD soon

Summer22222345 · 18/02/2024 23:21

Cider vinegar soaked on a cotton wool roll, stick onto the spot overnight with plasters holding in place and really let it sink in... do over a couple of nights if necessary, did on biggest one and no problems thereafter.

Imitationzone · 18/02/2024 23:24

After reading many helpful old threads on here, bought some exfoliating gloves for the purpose and went at them every night with a good scrub. We’re gone within a month or two.

rickyrickygrimes · 18/02/2024 23:43

Molludab worked for us. Had to be consistent in using it but once a few were properly irritated and burst, the rest just gradually faded away.

missushbbb · 18/02/2024 23:50

I'd just be careful, both my kids had this and its left scars. I used moludab, I don't know if that helped or just enough time elapsed that it just cleared up. It's tough, very hard to get rid of. The popping just seemed to spread them.

Hoppitybobbins · 18/02/2024 23:53

Oh it’s awful. One day they will start scabbing over and go. Until then, there’s nothing you can do. They should go in that timeframe though. Plus I know from having hand warts in past that sea water really helps so if you are going on hols get their skin out in sea and sand.
