Long term itchy rash, photo inc. GP no idea

Dh has had this weird rash thing for over a year. All over his body from legs to scalp. Extremely itchy. Starts off as small bumps which have clear fluid and then turns into larger welts.

Gp did prescribe loads of steroid cream, powder and wash which seemed to help a bit but not cure. And as soon as he’s run out it’s flared back up intensely. He did have relief from the itching while using the cream.

Nobody else affected, we haven’t changed wash powder. Normally fit and well.

I did wonder coeliac as dd has it and I know it can affect the skin. He’s waiting for blood test results. Any other ideas ?

@YuleDragon and @CupOfCoffeeandaPineappleChunk op's DH has been seen by a dermatologist who has diagnosed Bullous Pemphigoid

You both need to RTFT

Just to add whilst stevens johnson syndrome must commonly stays as a tag it cab start as small fluid filled blisters which increase in size as you describe and eventually lead to necrotic skin if left. It's very serious and is an immunological over response. Hourly the blood week confirm the cause very soon. Is, or had he been unwell at or before three start of the rash or during at all or started taking any meds or supplements that coincide timewise. Might be worth thinking back on. Hope it gets under Control very soon.

@Efacsen I understood they were waiting for biopsies to confirm so just thought I'd offer.
Editing isn't working either.

Thanks, if the biopsies do come back negative it’ll be another possibility to keep in mind.

Does anyone know if the CT scan today shows cancer will they call him back quicker than six weeks? And if so how quick might be hear? Not sure if someone will check it sooner or if nobody will actually look at if for six weeks. Kind of hoping no news might be good news, but maybe it can just mean it hasn’t been processed.

Is he still in hospital, won't he get the results before he goes home?

He’s home, he came home last night. Went back first thing today as an outpatient for the scan. 🤷‍♀️

@CormorantStrikesBack your moving slowly towards a diagnosis.

My son has an appointment on 15 march where all his tests will be available to the consultant. He went into hospital on 7th February. Was there for 8 days, home with two weeks of awful drugs. So will finish those on 7 march. He's deaf in one ear but still with us.

Gosh I’m sorry, hope he’s doing ok. Sounds like an awful time.

He’s a lot better currently thanks. The steroids appear to be working. Sounds like he’ll be on them for years/life and the condition will relapse and then flare up again periodically. He’s had the CT scan and has had no call back about this so am assuming no news is good news. He’s back to see the consultant in about a month.

The gp apparently thought about it but wanted to see how the cream goes first. 18 months wait for dermatology. Dh is going to go back to the gp in a couple of weeks.

Hope all is well.....
