Worrying symptoms

Jodie569 · 23/01/2024 09:14

I've had some worrying symptoms. I do have blood test booked in today and if the results are clear I need to book an MRI and find a private neurologist. Can anyone recommend anyone in southern England please?.

My symptoms-
Pins needles in hands and fingers mainly at night or if I'm laying in bed working leaning on my elbow
Sometimes woken up with a numb right arm
Weak feeling arms and legs
Vision dizzy spells & few weeks ago I was driving and had dark blob of floaters for around 20 seconds. Sometimes blurred vision.
Feels odd when I walk
Hands and feet freezing cold.
Had brain zaps last year but I was extremely exhausted and on high dose propanol.
Restricted breathing and Palpitations too.

I do suffer extreme health anxiety this is why I would prefer to pay private to be seen quicker. I also have a hip problem, I saw a chiropractor years ago who said it was pushed out. I am 44 I've had a lot of peri menopause symptoms since I was 38 never suffered anxiety until that age.

Clarice99 I take primrose, magnesium and vitamin d, which has made a bit of difference. I stupidly stopped taking them all before Christmas and just started taking them last week again. Hopefully blood test will know by this week the results.

Lots of GP's use anxiety and depression as a 'catch all' for menopausal symptoms and instead of prescribing HRT, they prescribe anti depressants. I'm fortunate as my GP is not in that category; however, I still paid to see someone privately about menopause and HRT as this allowed me to discuss my symptoms at length which is not always possible via the NHS GP route due to the limited appointment duration.

Whilst supplements can be useful, they do not replace hormones.

Here's a link to the menopause section:

Thank you I will have a look at the link, I know I was prescribed sertraline when out the blue my periods changed completely they are now further apart, heavy and only 2 days instead of 5. Thank you so much for replying and your advice.

Jodie369 no it was Bexhill, run by the Queen Victoria hospital in east Grinstead. They ran them in garden centres. Unsure if they still do. It was started by a chap who's wife died of melanoma, she was a nurse, not sure if she worked at this hospital. Charity,so they asked for a donation.

Nannyfannybanny · 23/01/2024 13:54

Sorry 569🤣

CherryRipe1 · 23/01/2024 14:11

Neuropathies and neuralgias can have many causes. Coeliac, carpel tunnel, autoimmune conditions eg Sjogrens, functional neurological disorders, thyroid problems, fibromyalgia, vit deficiencies & toxicity ie B6 and side effects of some drugs, fludroquinolones ciprofloxacin and possibly beta blockers. I'd suggest a full blood panel by GP for clues then go from there.

I would love it if more offered a free skin check for everyone once a year. I am shocked how many people I know still go on sunbeds a lot and do not check their skin. Hopefully the place I go to wont miss anything when checking me.

Yes having one today, I did get carpel tunnel pain in both hands last year it only lasted a few minutes but hurt enough for me to remember. The pins/needles and numb arm is quite normal now I have had it for years. The legs and the vision problems are newish (had vision issues when I had extreme anxiety years ago). I am going for bloods if they come back clear I will find out whats going on.

I also have large thyroid nodules that was found last year, scanned checked all benign but no problems with my actual thyroid ( I still think it may give me some of the symptoms).

Honestly to me all of those things sound like anxiety bar the tingling but that is likely caused by the way you sleep. As someone who also suffers from HA I do have a lot of experience with these odd symptoms so I'm not trying to patronise you. Obviously get checked out but also get some help for your MH.

Thank you I do agree with you there, but also if I have this checked over least it makes me less anxious. This is why I pay private when I have an issue so I don't waste NHS time. I do feel a bit different lately so maybe am lacking in something. HA is awful isn't it, I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Have you had your liver checked ?

TellySavalashairbrush · 23/01/2024 18:27

All of these symptoms are also linked to anxiety. I say that as a worn out health anxiety sufferer myself.

Jodie569 · 23/01/2024 20:32

I’ve had bloods done, I’m sure liver would flag up if something is wrong?. Waiting results.

OP posts:
Jodie569 · 23/01/2024 20:36

I do usually get physical symptoms when I’m anxious and I do suffer every single day, but this feels different. Once I get blood results I can go from there.

I had most of these symptoms and I was put on sertraline and they went away after about a month. However, those bloods are important because these symptoms can be symptoms for so many different things! Good luck

Thank you Rainbow, Sertraline saved my life years ago. I no longer take them I weaned myself off in covid. Yes I think I can't blame every thing on anxiety it will spiral out of control if I don't get checked over.

Hello just an update, my bloods came back b12 really high in the thousands. I have had a text from the doctor to say I am booked in next week. All my other results were normal apart from my red was slightly higher but thats normal for me. Stupidly googled so worrying like mad now until I see the doctor.

I did pay to have b12 shots injected early last year but not recently.
