So if the vaccines work how they say they do..Why has my child after 3 doses of 6in1 vaccine Infanrix hexa build up any immunity against them disease? He is 3 and has no antibodies for tetanus, whooping cough or the other diseases. How is that possible after 3 vaccinations ? The vaccine should last atleast 5 years..

That’s a question your GP needs to be following up

ETA - didn’t see your follow up before I posted this: I assume they’ve looked into genetic conditions? You can always ask for a second opinion - perhaps GOSH?

I never vaccinated mine and I wasn’t vaccinated as a child and we have suffered no consequences as a result. I come from a family of doctors and my sister is a virologist so I had lots of medical and scientific advice and understanding before making my decisions.

I think it’s a very personal choice and either option can come with potential side effects and risks. We have all caught covid also and been completely fine. We suffered very mild symptoms.

I did once get pushed to have the flu jab by a nurse. I was pregnant at the time and word for word she told me I was an irresponsible mum if I didn’t get it. I cried a lot (and reported her) but got the vaccine against my wishes and I fell unconscious at the appointment. Turns out I am extraordinarily allergic to it (I have a lot of serious allergies to other medications too and so does my mum and grandma). For me it isn’t worth the risk but you need to really weigh up your pros/cons.

I mean the truth is you could vaccinate and it be ineffective if the child catches said illness - or it could help but you will never really know and I would say you have to go with your gut feeling. You know best.

im not anti vax, but I do believe people have the right to make their own choices. If I had had mine when I was a baby I could have potentially had a serious reaction like I did as an adult.

You know best.

No the OP doesn’t know best.

I've asked my GP she said its not about individual antibodies against diseases but about herd immunity and to speak about it with the nurses as they know more. To me im vaccinating to protect my child but am I actually protecting ? Om still waiting for a call back from the nurses .

I am a mum to a 9 week old, she had he 1st round of vaccinations this past Friday.

She cried during the injection process for approximately 2 seconds and was fine after, the only side effect she recieved was sleepiness for the remainder of the day however by the next day she was completly back to normal.

I highly recommend your child gets them, I understand the rates of infection of the viruses and diseases they are vaccinated for are low but that's due to vaccinations, the diseases themselves are so much worse and life threatening.

Wishiwasatailor · 02/09/2025 06:38

@NellyMatrass that's interesting we're the titres 0 or were they just below 20ug/ml, can I ask if ther were born prematurely? did they have the prevaner late due to spreading the vaccines? Perhaps it would be worth speaking to an immunologist for further investigations

Zuve · 02/09/2025 06:41

It's good technology, get it!! They illnesses it protects from are nasty

Did you even read what ive put in the first place ? That my child is vaccinated but has no antibodies to none of the diseases?

Again did you not read what I've put ? My child is vaccinated and has no antibodies towards none of the diseases except measles and rubella.

No was on time. Not late. Maybe by few weeks. And my son was born on 38 weeks weighing almost 4kg..

Soporalt · 02/09/2025 08:31

Nelly, I think Jess was responding to the OP, not you.

It sounds like your DC has something unusual and rare happening with their immune system. It’s to protect children like yours from these terrible diseases that we need to get vaccinations up to the 95% level for herd immunity.

oldclock · 02/09/2025 08:32

Exactly what toxic side-effects are you concerned about, remembering to set that against the fact that vaccines save lives? get off the anti-vaxx sites and vaccinate your kids. This is a good source of reliable information https://vaccineknowledge.ox.ac.uk/home

I meant to get to the root cause - if there is a genetic reason that antibodies aren’t raised but yes, herd immunity is important and that’s one of the reasons there’s such a big push over measles - if there isn’t x number vaccinated then herd immunity doesn’t work

PP - ‘I mean the truth is you could vaccinate and it be ineffective if the child catches said illness’

The whole point of vaccination is to prevent children catching said illnesses!! Vaccines are generally very effective. Diseases have been eradicated because of them e.g we had lots of children contracting diphtheria and polio in the UK in the past.

It is very unusual (but not a 'never' thing) to get measles if you've had the MMR. However if you do, it's usually much milder and the risk of complications is much lower than if unvaccinated.

If you really are on the fence, then asking here is a very bad idea. Talk to your healthcare provider for the most accurate information.

Hello! I’d like to help. I did not vaccinate my children - they were absolutely fine :
Until
dc1 developed whooping cough aged 4 and was hospitalised .
dc 1 was also diagnosed with ASD at age 8 and had never had a vaccine ever.
With my other dcs although they were lucky and didn’t catch anything they did also get diagnosed with ASD.

I had a lovely GP who I went to see one day as my reason for not vaccinating had happened anyway (autism) and then I knew that I was wrong. They devised a catch up plan and even for my child with very severe allergies they arranged for their vaccines to be done in the day unit at hospital in case of a reaction. My dc are now fully vaccinated plus extra we paid for privately (chicken pox and meningitis jabs).

I would say don’t be like me in particular whooping cough was so dangerous and awful we were lucky they didn’t get any other diseases .

I wasn't vaccinated as a child and had these illnesses. I was very unwell with measles and whooping cough. Measles can be very serious and can cause blindness (and deafness).

I have vaccinated my children.

I was almost hospitalised when I had measles. The GP was a family friend and he came to check on me twice a day, and would definitely have had me admitted were it not for the fact that both my parents had trained as nurses. One of my earliest memories is my DM crying with relief when I finally ate something for the first time in days. Two children in my nursery school died of measles that year.

I missed two weeks of school with German measles a few years later, and three weeks with mumps in my O-level year. And I was very ill with chicken pox at the age of 36, and subsequently had several attacks of shingles and post-herpetic neuralgia.

I find it incomprehensible that anyone would risk their child getting ill when it's so easily preventable. We'd still have polio and smallpox if everyone had thought like that.
