its not heat/swet rash.

her cry has also changed-at the exact same time- drastically. its louder, hoaser and completly different. im so worried

shes eatin n drinkin fine, relatively responsive.

am i right to be worried?

has anyone got any ideas what it is.

How old is she? Has she eaten anything different or had a jab recently? If your really worried call out the doc or try that nhs helpline they're very good.

Mum2girls · 12/12/2004 20:33

Phone NHS direct straight away - may be nothing but best get it checked.

marysavannah · 12/12/2004 20:37

hi. she shad some milk- cows full fat.

but shes had it a few weeks ago- so if it was that it would have come oput then.

if it was just her cry id ignore it as ive been using controlled crying 4 the past few days ( she went to sleep by self past few nights with it, stayed asleep all night last night so it shouldnt be this either)

im gonna ring the doctor 2moro if its the same or worse-the rash. if its gone but the crys still there what do u reckon i should do?

i would ring A&E - maybe i am paranoid,,,but that is what nhs direct wil tell you to do

rickman · 12/12/2004 20:46

Could it be scarlatina? This normally starts with a sore throat and a rash on the chest and back. Hope everything is ok.

marysavannah · 12/12/2004 20:49

mary christmas why do u think i shud ring?

whats scarlatina?

ring up now

LIZS · 12/12/2004 20:51

If the cry is hoarser could, do you mean more wheezy or just as if she has a sore throat. Also how old is your dd ? Our dd had bronchilitis , which is very common (a complication of a cold virus)especially at this time of year, and one of the most noticeable symptoms was that her cry became more like a cat's. However she was also coughing, vomiting, restless but sleepy and wheezy and became dehydrated. Just wonder if your dd's rash might be a symptom of a virus which could also cause the cry, in which case the treatment is most likely to be symptomatic (humidified air, perhaps calpol for a temperature and so on). Worth getting checked out if only to eliminate anything serious.

FlosstyTheSnowman · 12/12/2004 20:51

I'd ring, best to be safe than sorry. I guess they would want you to do the blanche test if you did ring though, with the glass to see if the rash dissapears or stays. So I'd do that and then try and ring, they will better be able to tell you what to do then IMO. Hope she (and you) are ok.

MaryChristmas · 12/12/2004 20:53

Because it's your childs health!
They are there to help and I have rang them on far less serious things in the past.
They don't disregard your worries and what does it matter if it addresses the situation.

marysavannah · 12/12/2004 20:55

im not sure exactly

i just know it changed- im not sure if its hoarse or wheezy or both- im still goin with hoares.

she just over 1.

is bronchitus contagious?

she doesnt seem to have a temp.

the rash disapears under glass.

Scarlatina is the same as scarlet fever.

FlosstyTheSnowman · 12/12/2004 20:58

Should be good news that it dissapears under the glass, but still worth trying to get a diagnoses for it tonight by ringing NHS direct. They will tell you what is best to do, which will help reassure you and mean you daughters health is safer IYSWIM. Smile

MaryChristmas · 12/12/2004 20:58
