could she be teething? have you tried calpol just in case?

AllIWantForXmasisPoo · 12/12/2004 15:52

Stick her in the pushchair and walk for miles, or try a trip in the car? Or perhaps a bath? Assume you have checked bum, hungry, thirsty etc. Call HV is necc - they never mind.

pebbles2004pebbles · 12/12/2004 15:53

ive tried everything! calpol, calgel, ashton & parsons powders... i know she is teething but she has never been like this before. she has only slept for half an hour since 5am because she simply wont go down. tried walks in the pram and cc but nothing helps....

I sympathise-so awful when this happens?
Does she have a temp?
If you're worried that something isn't right then don't hesitate to call the doctor.
If you feel she's ok, you just have to accept that sometimes this happens.
Why not put her in the car and go for a looooong drive, or take some time out for an hour or so while someone else deals with her.

Good luck!!

pebbles2004pebbles · 12/12/2004 15:54

V unusual that she has slept so little...
Have you called NHS Direct?

pebbles2004pebbles · 12/12/2004 15:55

moondog · 12/12/2004 15:55

Can you call on a friend or family member for a bit of relief and a new pair of arms?

AllIWantForXmasisPoo · 12/12/2004 15:56

Try calling the hospital midwifery unit you had her at. My hospital proided 24hr phone support for a month after delivery and you always got to speak to a midwife. Am sure they would offer some advice even though dd is older. Or try NHS Direct - get their number off the web. Hugs.

AllIWantForXmasisPoo · 12/12/2004 15:57

If NHS have no other solutions, they might suggest you call your GP out for a home visit. You'd probably feel a bit less silly about the request if you had their say so. Poor old dd. And poorer you! Sad

moondog · 12/12/2004 15:58

Sometimes my 5 mth old ds is soothed by me taking all his clothes off and massaging him firmly...

moondog · 12/12/2004 15:58

Has she a temp Pebbles?

pebbles2004pebbles · 12/12/2004 15:59

no temp.... just cries and sick.... im gonna lose it in a minute!

Ooo - give yourself some time out. Put her safely in her cot, or on the floor, shut teh door and go and get some fresh air. Stand on teh front door step and BREATE. Know this is hard but the more tense you get, she will pick up on it and get worse. Don;t panic about leaving her either - no offense, but being with he hasn;t helped so far, so 5mins out won;t matter. HTH.

MarsselectionboxLady · 12/12/2004 16:06

I think that you should call NHS direct or something. If she is continually being sick after feeds and is crying she is probably really hungry. There may be a reason why she's not keeping down her feeds, reflux or something. Has it been going on long (more than 1 day I mean)? Not sure what to suggest except that we all blame everything on teething (I've been waiting on the DTs teeth for months now)

AllIWantForXmasisPoo · 12/12/2004 16:07

Pebbles - any better?

pebbles2004pebbles · 12/12/2004 16:08

I just dont understand why she is suddenly so stressed. She is usually such a happy baby, and sleeps well during the day ( usually too well and is up all night!) but today has been the day from hell! She has suddenly stopped crying now, but still wont give in to go to sleep. DH in army and at work til ? time tonight, hes been gone since 8am and we have no-one near us who can help out. You guys are my friends right now.... and thanks for all ur advice. if things get bad again, im off to a & e... its so out of character for her.

Mars - she has got a little reflux problem, but nothing the docs have given her has helped - Gaviscon and Carabel are useless....

OP posts:
MarsselectionboxLady · 12/12/2004 16:09

hope it's over. Keep us updated Smile

AllIWantForXmasisPoo · 12/12/2004 16:10

Ah, bless her, she muct be pooped. And you too. Glad all is well for now. Maybe she had a big old stuck burp. DS gets those sometimes, and they make him throw up hugely too. So awful when you can't help. Hope dh gets home and gives you both lots of hugs. Well done for not going totally insane.

colditzcolditzcold · 12/12/2004 16:10

Yry this, put her in her pram, stuff your ears with cotton wool, and rock her. or go for a walk over some grass or cobbles? sometimes they find bumps soothing

MarsselectionboxLady · 12/12/2004 16:11

The reflux is probably causing her some pain. Not an expert, sorry. Do give yourself time out though. As long as the wee one is safe. {{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}} to you both Smile

pebbles2004pebbles · 12/12/2004 16:14
