My friend went to Florida - not expecting to enjoy the parks - but absolutely loved Universal - and is going back this year

@lucysmam we all got through the hurricane winds and rain. Just a broken tarp pole - pizza tea to celebrate the end of the winds!
Pup dog wasn’t too happy at spending so much time in the tent yesterday- ended up hiring a dog field to let her have a good run.

Thanks for the link @Florabritannica - I’m a Times subscriber but haven’t read it yet. I’ve felt that with all the talk of inclusivity the NHS hasn’t been inclusive of my needs for female staff, I’ve had to repeat over and over again that I have a trauma response because of sexual assault but they don’t seem to remember time to time, and don’t always give me a woman.

Thanks Red DS seems scared to leave house after inpatient so I don't think we will go now but good to know for future.

@TopOfTheCliff thanks for your medically informed response. That does make sense, but inevitably, I don't feel reassured, as the features of this node tick all the wrong boxes - solid, unmovable, rounded on ultrasound, no hilum, etc. Plus, googling tells me that past treatment to the armpit (I had radiation therapy there 25 years ago for lymphoma) can lead to a disruption of lymphatic drainage routes, and make it take unusual paths. I am expecting the worst and really falling apart. Thanks everyone who responded though for the attempts to calm me down. Much appreciated. I probably need to re-wire my brain somehow. Biopsy tomorrow it turns out and results who knows when. It is going to be a terrible weekend at best. Second round of chemo as well tomorrow, so that is not going to help me feel good as I await an answer. The thought of chemo not working because of this popping up out of the blue is not going to help me cope with chemo side effects either.
@Florabritannica unfortunately I cannot access the times article, though sounds like there could be something interesting in there. Would you care to give us a couple of line summary of the section you refer to as worth reading?
@SierraSapphire very sorry to hear about your experience, both past and present.

Sorry to jump in, I wonder if anyone can answer a travel insurance q before I ring Barclays.

We have their annual travel pack for the family and rac cover etc.

It probably doesn't cover pre existing condition such as cancer.

But for my trip next week - at the moment I'm 'healthy.' I'm due surgery when I come back. It's stage one hormone positive. (The other biopsy is pending.) Radiotherapy will be later on.

I will get results of the other biopsy when abroad as they're phoning me.

Do I need more that the Barclays for this 4 day trip?

Ikeameatballlunch · 03/08/2023 14:21

Sorry - I ended up calling and it was all ok. I think I was anxious it was going to be a Pandora's box. This trip is covered. Though the irony is I feel well.

@isaxx basically lamenting the invisibility of women who have had mastectomies.

Ikeameatballlunch · 03/08/2023 17:38

Good article @Florabritannica.

It's something I've been pondering more with all the coverage on that, now I'm in this boat. (I'm a frequenter of fwr.) the surgeon was keen to emphasise the psychological side of my surgery. Which in a way I wasn't bothered about until he pointed it out.

(I'm not too keen generally as they still won't be as they were and I'm a perfectionist 🤣)

Talking of boats I bought a rowing machine 😍 I adore paddle boarding and body boarding but can't get there very often, also why I'm not going to rely on the gym. I've decided this is going to help generally and I do like rowing machines. My joints aren't too keen on running anymore though I get a lot if walking in with the dog and the kids.

@isaxx basically lamenting the invisibility of women who have had mastectomies.

It's basically ageism.

Florabritannica · 03/08/2023 17:47

@Ikeameatballlunch It’s also a misogyny that refuses to acknowledge the existence of non-decorative women.

TopOfTheCliff · 03/08/2023 22:36

Right folks it’s time to migrate to the new thread. Thanks @LemonDrizzle10
