Fatties wishing to shrink - part 2

I am starting this new thread as suggested. The answers to my questions may be on the old thread but it is too long to trawl through.

Well I have just come back from my weigh in at WW after my first week and am really disappointed that I only lost 1 1/2 pounds I am a Gold Member and previously in the past I have lost 4 lbs the first week.
I don't understand why the first week you start off with less points - I had 18. Now I am on 22 and was told to expect a better loss next week.

The emphasis is to use all your points, so why start you on less the first week. Does anyone know the answer. Did this happen with any of the rest of you WW people out there?

On the plus side I have not had any wine for a week and am feeling better for it. Dh is sticking to the plan as well. Hopefully next week I will have a better result. Am worried though that having 22 points will be too much if the loss was so little on 18. Reassurance needed.

just wanted to have a little brag - lost 9 1/2 lbs so far - in three weeks.

Very pleased and dh enjoys the food I am cooking - no doubt he too will lose some weight.

Twink · 12/03/2003 21:53

Well done, that's a really good start and if dh is happy following the plan too that should make things more 'do-able'.

Sam29, I'd not seen your post before, don't worry, you'll be so busy worrying with things like 'oh no, it's lunchtime and I'm not dressed yet' for a while (unless that was just my incomptence..)

Try not worrying for at least the next 3 months, as your body will change shape so much anyway. If you don't use motherhood as an excuse to pig out on things you know aren't that good for you, you'll be ok and can start thinking about your weight once you get used to dealing with your newbie.

sam29 my dd was six months before I felt in control enough to sort out my weight. Just take time to enjoy your new babe and adjust to your new life and then you can focus on the rest.

Antonia3 · 16/03/2003 22:34

Sam29, I put on about 4 stone with dd - then when she was born the last thing on my mind was how much I weighed (v surprised as normally obsessed with weight). Now she is nearly a year old and I am back to my normal weight. Think all the running round and stress helps!

Just one tip - if you are b/f'ing, don't do as I did and take it as a licence to eat anything you like! I did, and stayed the same for ages. You are only supposed to have 200 calories a day more than the usual 2000 if you are b/f'ing, and I had about 1000 more

There is a huge (no pun intended) difference between strict dieting and eating sensibly and I wish I had been more sensible during my pregnancy and whilst breast feeding - everyone tends to say don't worry about your weight when pregnant/breast feeding .... it will all fall off when you have the baby/stop feeding .... but now, with DS aged two, I am still nearly four stone over weight despite running round with an active toddler, walking 3 miles most days and 2 x aerobic classes a week.

calling any atkins experts - in induction phase are you supposed to count the carbs of everything you eat (for example in shellfish) as well as those in the vegetables? Also he talks about adding sesame seeds and mustard to sauces - but can't find any reference to you actually being allowed to eat them during induction. Is he a nut and am I a nut for even reading the book?
