I’m reading the manual now…and you’re right Grin

Polgara2 · 08/12/2025 17:28

Oh my word can all Oticon do that?

Soubriquet · 08/12/2025 17:31

No idea. The one I’ve got is called a Bolero M70-M

isitmyturn · 08/12/2025 18:45

Mine is a phonak bolero. NHS.

No it depends on the phone and the hearing aid. There's a compatibility list on the Oticon website https://www.oticon.co.uk/support/compatibility-guide?product=518234 but it's not 100% reliable especially for Androids. You stand a better chance with an iPhone.

@StuntNun I have one of those, it's called a CROS. It picks up noise from your deaf side and transmits it to the aid in your good ear. It's great for helping you be aware of what's going on on your bad side but because everything you hear is coming through your good ear, it doesn't give you stereo or directional hearing. It's more like playing a stereo track in mono.

Polgara2 · 08/12/2025 19:50

@MontyDonsBlueScarf
ok thanks I’ll have a look! I do have an iphone.

Could you change your hearing aids? My phone's work just fine with my android phone and it's not a particularly fancy one.

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 09/12/2025 08:40

For anyone with Oticon aids I recommend the Facebook Oticon Hearing Aids Users Group, you will get a sense of what each type of aid can do and the issues and solutions that others have found.

If you already have an iPhone then you could try booking an appointment at an Apple store and asking if possible to be allocated someone who wears a hearing aid themselves, so you can learn to get the best out of it. I did this when I was thinking of switching from Android and they were really helpful, even though the end result was that I'd be better off staying with Android.

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 09/12/2025 08:57

@isitmyturn sorry I missed the type of aids you have, but if it's Oticon, they make a device called a ConnectClip which can be really useful in particular circumstances. It can stream from your phone directly to your aids and at the same time turn off all amplification of background noise so it maximises the difference between what you want to hear and what you don't. It can do the same with someone's voice if they wear it round their neck, I give mine to the instructor in my tap class so I can hear them above the noise of the music and everyone tapping. You can make phone calls with it remotely though this is only useful if you're making a lot of calls, you wouldn't want to have it switched on and ready to go all the time just in case someone rings you.

If your audiologist can't let you have one to try then Connevans will refund you if you buy one and you don't get on with it.www.connevans.co.uk/product/24117487/3O178509/Oticon-ConnectClip-Bluetooth-Link-and-Wireless-Microphone?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=21401388400&utm_content=163393242363&utm_term=&gadid=703301422000&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21401388400&gbraid=0AAAAADOstHLIUV45ROLWoeX21Q6ZjrtSJ&gclid=Cj0KCQiArt_JBhCTARIsADQZaykZO4JYUJ3P6fGXkFx17JX1uPYcyahIASEfpFRq9yAHaXtVsU_sBPAaAtJKEALw_wcB

Well I’ve just got new NHS Oticon hearing aids so they are not on that compatibility info of course.
They are the Sage BTE. I do have Bluetooth and can switch back microphones off etc. I’m supposed to be able to use my phone as remote microphone with them but I haven’t got that to work yet!
Supposedly the best ones they have according to the audiologist.
I have never been able to get t coil option to work in any cinemas etc though!

MontyDonsBlueScarf · 09/12/2025 13:41

NHS aids will not be on the compatibility list because they are re-named for NHS issue. They are the same aids and have the same features as the standard aids though. I learned this from the Facebook group I mentioned above. You may be able to identify the standard name for the Sage BTE by going to the NHS section of the Oticon website or by posting a question on the Facebook site I mentioned earlier.

isitmyturn · 09/12/2025 13:49

@MontyDonsBlueScarf thanks but mine are NHS phonak bolero. It might have been @StuntNun ?
MineThey fine with my android phone and you can set some filters on the app depending on situation - restaurant, TV etc. I like the sound of linking to the instructor though. My pilates teacher is a bit of a mumbler but it doesn't matter as I've been going so long I know what she's going to say next😂

LIZS · 17/12/2025 09:22

@perkyochrepeeryou might find information here useful

Soubriquet · 27/01/2026 11:08

Does anyone else find the hearing aid batteries for the new Bluetooth version are rubbish?

I was in the orange kind and I could get around 2-2.5 weeks out of one battery

now I’m on the brown, I seem to be changing it once a week!

LIZS · 27/01/2026 11:13

Mine are the orange and last 5/6 days.

Soubriquet · 27/01/2026 11:14

Odd…. I was wondering if the Bluetooth feature was draining the battery more but maybe it’s just the hearing aid itself

Soubriquet · 27/01/2026 11:15

Btw, if anyone needs orange packs, I’ve got about 8 full NHS packs I’m happy to mail out

isitmyturn · 27/01/2026 11:49

Mine are brown, 312. They last a week, I presume listening to calls and music drains it a bit but my old ones didn't have Bluetooth and only lasted a week. I still prefer batteries to rechargeable though.

purpleme12 · 27/01/2026 12:16

When I went to Bluetooth ones the audiologist did warn me that the batteries don't last as long because yes the Bluetooth uses more battery. So the more you use the Bluetooth the more the battery will drain.

Same for me - As I switched to using a rechargeable set of hearing aids in the summer, I still have a lot of batteries left from my old NHS ones. I have 7 unused packs of size 13 batteries (the orange ones) and I'm happy to post to anyone (in the UK) if you are short of batteries. I only just noticed in the news that there is a shortage.
