I’m pretty sure there’s no such thing as lice which live on, or burrow underneath, human skin. Aside from nasty bugs outside of the UK that is.

I’m not being facetious, I’m genuinely only aware of head or pubic lice.

OP, are you sure you don’t have head lice that are dropping down off your head? Grim thought, I know.

Knockmealdowns · 29/05/2023 22:02

Can you take an antihistamine for the itch? Poor you, I got them years ago off a homeless man’s clothes… not fun..

No, there are body lice, although they mostly just live in clothes. Actual infestation usually only happens where someone can't wash or change their clothes for weeks, so homeless etc.

greenspaces4peace · 29/05/2023 22:10

Definitely a pharmacist should be able to help you.

Jellycats4life · 29/05/2023 22:16

Yikes @TheYearOfSmallThings every day is a school day.

But could this really be the OP’s problem? Surely once you’ve removed and washed/thrown away the offending clothes, the problem should be solved?

I agree, it's very unlikely to be the problem here, and yes, it can generally be resolved by good hygiene anyway.

WhoWants2Know · 29/05/2023 22:24

Could they be those little bastard midges that get stuck to you in the hot weather?

Somanycats · 29/05/2023 22:25

Yeah, body lice don't live their lifespans on your body like pubic or headlice do. They bite you and jump off into bedding clothing etc. So once you are diagnosed or now if you want to, wash yourself, your bedding (hot wash) all clothing, keep doing it, they are easily killed and should soon be gone.

Letsallgotothebeach · 29/05/2023 22:40

Do you have a tumble dryer? Tumble dry all bedding and clothes and hoover everywhere, including mattress. If bed bugs or live they will be killed by the heat of a tumble dry cycle.

moggerhanger · 29/05/2023 22:58

I'm still with seed ticks here....

What are they?

I could be wrong but surely you just throw away your bedding and the clothes your wearing and take a shower. I don't understand how a dr would help with this apart from reminding you the importance of personal hygiene

These are a very weird set of symptoms 'brown things coming out'. My first thought as a nurse is ' have you any psychiatric history?'

moggerhanger · 29/05/2023 23:06

Seed ticks are the larval stage of adult ticks. Common in wilder areas where there are deer, and can occur in 100s at a time. Some people are quite allergic to their bites. You wouldn't be able to easily brush them off your skin. Are you outdoorsy? Dog owner etc?

Atticus999 · 29/05/2023 23:06

Brown things coming out from underneath your skin?

This is what nightmares are made of. Ticks are bad enough.

Tell me about it. DS got an adult tick on his arm after playing in long grass, and I was verging on getting a flamethrower to deal with it. They give me the absolute boak.

My first thought too. Couldn’t help but think of “Morgellon’s disease” which even Joni Mitchell claimed to have at one point (don’t worry, it’s not real).

letstal · 29/05/2023 23:15

Have you washed yourself? Are they still there after?

HRTeatime · 29/05/2023 23:16

Are you sure these aren’t just thrips/thunderflies? Sorry, pics aren’t really very clear to be able to tell. Make you itch like crazy, don’t do any harm.

pookiedoodlepuppy · 29/05/2023 23:17

Tick are horrible fuckers , but are you sure they are not thunder bugs .

I thought the same. Sorry.

Highlyflavouredgravy · 29/05/2023 23:23

Why are hsnging out with dirty people?

HeidiUpTheMountain · 29/05/2023 23:29

OP, I just saw your thread from yesterday where you thought it was scabies. You said there you thought you’d caught them in a taxi. Unless you had prolonged skin to skin contact with an infected person in the taxi, and have not washed your body or any of your clothes since, it won’t be either scabies or lice.

The photos you showed just look like the fluff you get on your skin from wearing dark coloured clothes. Can I ask if you have any health anxiety, or other mental health problems? The fact you think the marks are things coming out of you is an unusual conviction.
