Oh, I'm so pleased you managed your 'mini adventure' @TopOfTheCliff - very good for the soul (and the thigh muscles).

Hope all goes well with the check @Chocolateismyfavourite - sending as much calm as I can muster to you all.

TopOfTheCliff · 18/04/2023 10:23

@FangedFrisbee I found with the total node clearance that sometimes the nerve just started zinging for no reason. It helped to put a hot wheat pack in my armpit. It seemed to just reset the nerve. Also I got some amitriptyline from my GP to take at night which helped the pain and helped me sleep. I only needed a very low dose. Here’s hoping the pain is better today.

My heart mastectomy pillow arrived today. Omg the relief is insane! Thank you to everyone who recommended it

Glad you're finding the heart pillow helpful - they were giving them out for free when I had my mastectomy, so nice to use.

Chocolateismyfavourite · 18/04/2023 15:02

Hiya, ended up having a biopsy. Before doing it she said she'd do it because she said she wasn't sure it looked like scar tissue and did look a bit like cancer. Afterwards she said, I'll be honest it definitely doesn't look like scar tissue, more like cancer. My radiotherapy therapy has been cancelled as this trumps that, I get the results next Thursday. If it's negative (wich didn't sound to promising) the RT will be reinstated, if positive, I'll have a new plan.
Feeling really really pissed off and abit like it's not happening to me. I know I don't know for definite until I get the results but....

dotty2 · 18/04/2023 16:07

I'm very sorry to hear that @Chocolateismyfavourite - it's obviously what we all fear. It will feel like a long 9 days until next Thursday, I'm sure. Thinking of you (and keeping fingers crossed it is something innocuous after all)

TopOfTheCliff · 18/04/2023 16:32

Oh @Chocolateismyfavourite that is such a pain. If we can get @WorryMcGee out of the rage room for half an hour I am sure you would benefit from smashing up some plates and breaking some obsolete electronic equipment. I totally understand the derailing of your plans when you thought you were nearly through the whole ghastly business and now they are telling you it is more than likely you will have to deal with yet more crap.
We are here to listen any time you need a rant.

EachandEveryone · 18/04/2023 16:49

I feel bad talking about trivia on here but I’ve had a good day. I never thought I’d be onto wigs but if anyone is Hertfordshire based and gets a prescription for Hair to Ware they are brilliant. I cannot believe how realistic they were I’ve ordered one and if I was flush I’d get another but I can’t pay full price I might see if I can get a knock off. I’m getting the blonde one but slightly darker with highlights and the short straight I love but it feels more sensible. I’ve scrubbed my nose out as it’s too identifying😂😂😂

oh and I bought this bag from the boutique accross the road real leather £32 and it’s £95 online. I should’ve got two.

im sorry but I’m really hyper the day after chemo I probably won’t beable to get out of bed tomorrow

So sorry @Chocolateismyfavourite - also keeping fingers crossed for positive news.

I feel a bit bad sharing this when others are receiving less positive news but thought it might give some hope to anyone who is waiting on a diagnosis. My oncologist told me today that my MRI shows a complete response to treatment, no tumour and no signs of cancer. I still have a way to go with the chemo but still, amazing news.

AGreatUsername · 18/04/2023 17:22

@Chocolateismyfavourite I am very sorry to read that, and sending you a very large virtual G&T. Rage away as much as you need.

@EachandEveryone thar blonde wig looks fantastic! You’d never ever suspect it wasn’t real!

@bringonyourwreckingball absolutely amazing congratulations.

Silkierabbit · 18/04/2023 17:23

So sorry Chocolate I hope they are wrong but if not hope its not too much extra treatment.

Great news Bring

Nice wig Each

Glad you had a good trip Top

Phoned today as constant pressure on one side of face since chemo but the cancer team said can't do anything phone dentist or GP. Dental receptionist was no that's more than the mouth no then I asked could I book in a teeth cleaning no you need dentists permission to do that. 😂Then asked if I could move forward appointment no as its not at least 6 months from old. Sent message to GP and he's just recommended nasal douching and if not then nasal spray. DS is now home for good though scared of everyone but us. DD continues to live her best life seeing Elton John last night. I went to reunion dinner and swimming at Holiday Inn at weekend.

Fantasea · 18/04/2023 17:43

@Chocolateismyfavourite so sorry to read your update and really hoping next Thursday can come round quickly for you. So hard when you thought you were nearly done.

@bringonyourwreckingball fabulous news, so pleased for you!

@EachandEveryone I love the blond wig and wish I could have found one as natural looking.

So happy for you and its fantastic news xxx. I do wish we had another thread which is more trivial so one can be the bic C medical etc and the other one is the big C trivial tips as I do feel that sometimes you dont want to derail talking about make up telly etc but its all related to the crap we are going through.

Chocolateismyfavourite · 18/04/2023 19:24

Thanks for all the lovely messages I really appreciate them.

Rage room? This is something I can totally get on board with, smashing stuff up right now would be ideal🤣

Don't feel bad! That's amazing news! I'm so happy for you. Xx

Chocolateismyfavourite · 18/04/2023 19:27

@EachandEveryone love the blonde wig

WorryMcGee · 18/04/2023 20:30

@Chocolateismyfavourite please take my place in the Rage Room. It’s great because it miraculously regenerates more shit to smash up when you think you’ve destroyed it all.

@TopOfTheCliff your trip sounds incredible ❤️

Amazing news @bringonyourwreckingball 🤩

@EachandEveryone you look fantastic 👌🏻

Whattodotomorrow · 18/04/2023 22:12

Just popping in to say thinking of you @Chocolateismyfavourite and sending positive thoughts to you.

@bringonyourwreckingball that’s great news…amazing! You must be so relieved. 😀

And the wigs look super @EachandEveryone are they fibre or human hair…they look so realistic. It just reminds me I need to sort my own wig shit out and get something that can be worn without a wool beanie. I’m melting!

TopOfTheCliff · 18/04/2023 22:50

@bringonyourwreckingball yay for your good news! I’m so glad for you.

I have spent today creeping around feeling ninety and stiff but the effort was worth it! I will never again take things for granted if I can just have my life back please. I now have enough hair to go without a hat when it’s warm out. I don’t really believe I will ever escape Cancerland and I’m sure the course of Xeloda is going to make me feel like shit but I’m still hoping this summer will be at least okay.
Sending strength and patience to those who need it.

No its fibre hair. Im so happy I dont know what I was nervous about.

SierraSapphire · 19/04/2023 06:40

I had fibre hair and it was so like my own hair that even my friends weren’t sure it was a wig (and I don’t think they were just saying that!) I wore it for about six months but now I’m out and about with my dual length hair from cold capping, some normal, some grey and wiry and short.

I finished chemo over five months ago but my white blood count is still a bit low and possibly my iron. I have had Covid and a couple of infections but l’m a bit worried my immune system isn’t functioning properly to fight off a recurrence or whether it’s indicating the cancer is still there. The GP seems blasé about it, but I’ve got my first consultant check on Friday. Considering I had such a battle with them about my treatment I’m not looking forward to it as I don’t feel they are sympathetic to me. So I’m back in the anxiety zone.

LemonDrizzle10 · 19/04/2023 06:54

Here is some puppy therapy if anyone fancies some.

Siena I also got covid after chemo, in September after finishing in July from people round to work with DS who I told to be careful but weren't. When I got the anti virals and overall it was pretty mild compared to what I had pre cancer with covid and needed to be in hospital even before anti virals. Not had anything else but they said that immune system is down for a year after chemo and radio and this sinus thing since Jan might just be infection. I now take Wellwoman 50 most days and no further infections, not had any blood tests but doesn't feel like anything is low. I felt like iron was low before vitamins as I was breathless and weak. So I think what you have is normal post chemo especially if you are out and about. I think it's just chemo after effects.

dotty2 · 19/04/2023 09:17

@LemonDrizzle10 - you did it, then? They are very cute.

Chocolateismyfavourite · 19/04/2023 09:31

Advice please, on mouth sores/ulcers, I had one get infected and so have been given antibiotics. Finished the course but its still there (although less red/sore). I'm wondering will it just not actually heal and do I just need to keep an eye on it for redness/excess pain again but tolerate it being there ikywim? I'm collecting some Difflam today. I'm between cycle 2 & 3 of EC.
