Restless legs - any remedies?

I developed restless legs during my pregnancy - and nearly a year later - it's still there! It comes on every night around 9pm and it's so frustrating. Does anybody have any tips for relief please?

Thank you!

Is the magnesium oil supposed to itch so much!!!??

Yes! This is totally normal, and it will go away after using it for a time. It's crazy, isn't it??

@Aquamarine1029 oh wow! I was not expecting that!

I find stretching my calf muscles helps. If you do yoga, a downward dog position, or alternatively stand with tour toes on a step and let your heels drop to stretch the muscle.
I also get restless shoulders when I'm tired- lucky me!
Magnesium helps too, as pps have said

@harryfan37 Ha, you should have read my post a couple of posts back- burns like hell!! But I find it does work so I grimace through the burn- used it every day for 10 days- still burns!!

@Crikeyalmighty oh gosh I missed that! Ouch!! I washed it off last night but I might brave it again tonight

@harryfan37 I think initially just try on your feet- they are much less sensitive to it. It still gets into your system

Very interesting about the tonic water! I wonder why that helps? I'll try anything at this rate!

Apparently it's the quinine.

Was the lying upside down any use?

Works for me usually!

Tapenade · 14/03/2023 21:09

I’ve resorted to sleeping on an acupressure mat a few times - don’t think you’re meant to do that, but it seems to work for me.

OneFrenchEgg · 14/03/2023 21:11

Mine was anaemia so iron tablets sorted it

harryfan37 · 15/03/2023 11:39

@PabsyPops unfortunately not for me :-( Nothing seems to be working, I'm so tired and going out my mind. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I see an improvement. Reluctant to ask for medication.

Monitor your diet and mark what you eat when it's worse, certain foods can trigger mine too, cheese and toast with butter are the worst culprits so I avoid them late in the day.

Check your IRON levels. Really helped my RLS. And fatigue.
