Urgent breast clinic referral

I’m terrified, I found a small lump in my breast whilst in the shower, I managed to get into the doctors today, she said she could feel several lumps in my left boob most likely to be breast tissue but she has referred me to the breast clinic urgently, I lost my mum 4 years ago (not breast cancer) and now my dad has just been diagnosed with lymphoma, I just can’t believe this is happening and I’m terrified it’s the worst and I won’t be here for my children 😞

I’ve also got the all clear . I’m so glad that so many people are getting good news but I’m also thinking of everyone that’s didn’t . The clinic are so organised and they seem to know exactly what they’re looking for . I’m sure they’re giving a diagnosis so early that anyone that has a problem can get early treatment. We definitely need to keep talking about this so anyone with any issues goes straight to be checked .

Glad all ok. Me too
It amazes me how many don't go for screening or go to the doctors. Please get checked, your not wasting anyone's time. I do think the breast screening programme should be lowered to 40 or even 35 + though, they need to do this. Sending hugs to all and OP of thread

BRCA1 breast lump. I am a carrier of the BRCA1 gene mutation and a few years ago had a preventative double mastectomy and reconstruction. I've now found a lump on my reconstructed breast and have been urgently referred to the breast clinic. Has anyone else found a lump on reconstructed breast? I'm 39 and terrified it's cancer

Hello,

It's best to start your own thread.

But I didn't want to read and run.

Just because you are a carrier of BRCA 1, it does not mean you will develop breast cancer, but regrettably, there is a higher possibility you might.

Although all your breast tissue would have been removed during your double mastectomy, there is a tiny chance a cell or two is missed - think of it like trying to remove every single piece of pith from an orange. Regrettably, it takes just one cell to mutate and form a tumour, be it benign, malignant or even just a harmless cyst.

At this juncture, it is impossible to say what your lump is. Try not to worry, because the breast clinic will investigate properly and you will know ASAP.
