Hiya, wondering if anyone can help. I’ve come out in a strange type of rash over my hands and fingers but mainly on my right hand. It’s like painful red bumps under the skin, it’s making using my hand quite sore which isn’t ideal. Any ideas or has anyone had anything similar? Thank you! Picture

Pompholyx or the start of hand foot and mouth maybe

bloodywhitecat · 16/10/2022 16:26

Dyshidrotic eczema (pompholyx) hurts/itches like buggery.

Newuser82 · 16/10/2022 16:37

I was going to say hand foot and mouth too.

I've had both of these and that looks a lot like hand, foot and mouth.

HopefulRose · 16/10/2022 16:46

I thought it might be that but it’s weird that it’s only on the fingers I use the most? It’s really freaking me out it’s so painful :(

Looks like hand, foot and mouth to me too. It's painful! Do you have a child you might have caught it from?

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 16/10/2022 16:47

Are you warm or stressed? They're triggers for pompholyx (eczema). Speak to 111 if concerned, or a pharmacist

Createausernamehere · 16/10/2022 16:49

Hand foot and mouth disease

its a viral infection and it can affect adults too.

Createausernamehere · 16/10/2022 16:50

Sorry see others have already said this!

it’s really classic for that OP and it is known to be very painful. You might have lesions on your feet if you look or they might appear over the coming days and can be anywhere in the body despite the name.

Frankly820 · 16/10/2022 16:57

Could it be chilblains? I used to get similar when I lived in a very cold flat

Junebughustle · 16/10/2022 17:06

I had something like this a year ago and it was hand foot and mouth - are you feeling poorly otherwise?

aliceinshackles · 16/10/2022 17:18

Do you have covid?
I have spots like that when I had it June 2020.
They itches to hell and turned into blisters. Blisters popped and my skin peeled off.

Yes I thought covid too…

Go and check with your pharmacist as they are painful?

Justalittlebitfurther · 16/10/2022 18:12

I get this regularly as I’m regularly stressed! 🙈 Dr prescribed steroid cream which gets rid of it within a day and I don’t let it get too bad now. Good luck!

HopefulRose · 16/10/2022 21:53

Thanks so much for all of your replies, makes me feel reassured that I’m not alone.

have a doctors appointment tomorrow so will see what they say

Dyshidrotic eczema (pompholyx) hurts/itches like buggery.

I was going to suggest this too. I get it when I take certain vitamin tablets. I think it's a reaction to the bulking crap agents they put in them.

Anon778833 · 16/10/2022 22:05

It looks like hand foot and mouth to me which I have had. But I also had a very sore throat with that.

Mano2020 · 16/10/2022 22:45

So strange as I have the same. Was just looking at posts if anyone has experienced anything similar. Mine are not painful though but look like blisters and slightly red. I have got nausea too been like this for weeks. Covid test was negative.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 16/10/2022 22:58

Pompholyx. I get it on fingers and toes. They eventually dry out and the skin peels.

If it is HFM a possible side effect is the loss of finger/toe nails a couple of weeks down the line.

HopefulRose · 17/10/2022 02:20

@MondaysChild7 I also had a terrible sore throat which has only just cleared up so that might make sense. Just strange as to why it’s only on some parts of my hands/ fingers. I sometimes wish I was a doctor so I knew all the answers to these things 😂 would save me a lot of time and worry.

@Mano2020 how strange, perhaps there’s lots of this (whatever it is) going round then

FurryDandelionSeekingMissile · 17/10/2022 02:34

If it's worst on the fingers you use the most, it could possibly be pompholyx/dishydrotic eczema popping up as a reaction to something you're handling. I got one of my worst pompholyx outbreaks from handling a fidget toy that turned out to be nickel-plated, with the rash concentrated on all my most-used hand parts 😒 Your rash doesn't look a lot like my pompholyx though, so I'm not that confident. Skin rashes are really difficult sometimes.

Fraaahnces · 17/10/2022 02:42

COVID fingers are a thing.

Justhereforaibu1 · 17/10/2022 02:49

Check the roof of your mouth for bright red spots... If you have def hand foot and mouth

Mano2020 · 17/10/2022 08:12

I had a sore throat and red roof of mouth about a week ago. Maybe it is linked then. It looks like they are getting better today.
