Panicking, mammogram recall

Hi,
I went for my first routine mammogram three weeks ago and got my result on Sat, they want me back this Thurs for a second examination, I am worried sick, it would just be my luck after the last 10 years, something else to face. I know I am panicking, but with three 6yr olds I need to be here for them, being silly I know. On top of it all me and Becca are down with a sicky bug and she has headlice again! Help!

I`m still here, putting off going to bed! Its always nice to know that you are all out there until all hours of the night, can you imagine what it was like before we had computers?

It is quite comforting knowing that other people are around, isn't it? Our virtual selves will be there in the waiting room with you tomorrow.

triplets · 01/12/2004 23:35

Oh thank you, now I cannot put it off any longer, sweet dreams to you all xx

Hi,
Nearlt time to go, feeling such a coward. I wanted to bawl my eyes out when I said goodbye to the kids this morning, as though I won`t ever see them again! On top of it all no sleep, not only because I was worried but Harry came down with the bug and was very sick! Then this morning I had to bake lots of cakes for the school fayre tomorrow and my expensive fruit cake that should have taken 2 hours at gas 3 was black in 20 mins! Thermostat gone. But on the lucky side I have 2 ovens! Right will have to go and get changed, the time has come! Talk to you all later, xxxxxxx

Hi Hi Hi!
Thats how I feel! Everything is ok, oh the relief I feel tonight. The reason I was recalled was that the doctor was concerned about an area in my right breast, on the x-ray it was a dark mass. She said there appeared to be some "dragging from the tissue" and as it was so dense the x-ray hadnt been able to see what if anything was behind it. So they wanted a better look and to check on the tissue. It turned out to be layers of glands, very compact, so to get the picture they wanted they applied pressure points to separate the layers to get the picture. I had to wait 15 mins whle she went off to show them to the doctor, she then retd and said I could get dressed and the doctor would see me to explain everything. When I went in she asked me loads of questions about periods etc, I told her that I hadn`t had a period in over 6 years since I was almost 47, she looked surprised so I went on to tell her about them stopPing for a year after Matthew died, then starting, then two ivf attempts being pumped full of hormones, then the third attempt using a donor, then carrying triplets aged 45, being pumped with more hormones to help sustain the pregnancy, then one period when they were 6 months old followed by 12 weeks of flooding, then nothing, that was 6 years ago! So then she wanted to do a physical examination and an ultrasound, then finally said she was happy that everything was clear. She said the trouble with your first mammogram is that they have nothing to compare it too, no history. They now know that the right breast is made up like that so they will not worry the next time.............god I cannot tell you how relieved I was, it really shook me up to think there could have been something, there were 4 of us in that room and I came out the only one with no problem. Sooooooooooooooo a huge thank you to you all, for all the love and hugs and everything else you have sent me. I feel so silly now that I took it all so badly, over reacted, but my mind just tells me that bad things do happen, but NOT TODAY........HOORAY!

TinselTamum · 03/12/2004 11:01

triplets, I'm so pleased for you. It's fantastic news. I actually logged on this morning to see if there was any news, but it was just befoer I was on my way out of the door to take the children to school, so I had no time to post.

aloha · 03/12/2004 11:04

Very pleased for you! Now enjoy Christmas.. I would say have a rest, but with three six-year-olds I don't suppose that's realistic

RudolphCAM · 03/12/2004 11:58

What fantastic news - very happy for you and no you were not overreacting, I would have felt the same.

triplets · 03/12/2004 22:23

Hi all,
Thank you for all your lovely messages. I collapsed into my bed last night, soooooooo looking forward to a good nights sleep at last. Was woken at 3am by Thomas telling me he was hungry, he ended up at 4.30am in my bed, he just wouldnt settle. Next thing I know I woke and it was light, looked at the clock and it was 8.15am! Woke Harry and asked him why the alarm hadnt gone off and he said, "because its Saturday". Oh did we move! Then went to Canterbury again to try and get some more presents for the kids, then tonight I was running a stall at the school Christmas Fayre! Exhausted but happy!
