I lost smell and taste after covid and this is my 8th week. I'll get a burst of smell of something but will disappear or i'll smell something up close and will only get a hint and then gone, not stable everyday.
I've read so many sad stories that has caused anxiety and not able to sleep anymore.
Please can anyone tell me only positive stories of regaining smell and taste, thanks.
Let's get through this togetherxx

I really feel for you.
I lost my sense of taste and smell with covid November 2020. I took some tissue salts Kali Mur and regularly smelled lavender oil. Taste started coming back first after a couple of weeks and smell after that.b

Best wishes OP.

@GlassofWaterAgai - how long did you inhale the essential oil in each nostril for? Thanks

For those where the taste came back first before their smell, would you happen to remember time it took for the smell to come back after the taste? Thanks everyonex

Following this. I had Covid in May and I've not been the same since. Sometimes I can taste on the odd day but it's very bland. Then there's nothing again. I can't smell anything unless it's really strong and even then it still doesn't smell strong iykwim. I sound like I have a cold as well. I really am getting fed. I'm going to try the peppermint sniffing!

IncessantNameChanger · 04/09/2022 11:05

I had the Kent variant pre vaccine. Took about 8 months to come back to normal.

@staystrong7 - I took 3 deep sniffs on each side. Gradually I started to realise, 'oohh...it's very, very faint...but I can smell it'. It's quite exciting the first time it happens!!

Staystrong7 · 04/09/2022 18:21

@CuriousMama& @GlassofWaterAgai - thank youx i'm sure many others going through this, will also find this helpful, to not lose hope.

Please could anyone send positive stories on when they regained taste first before smell, and how long you waited for the smell to return after regaining taste first, thanksx

My understanding is that your sense of smell is what allows you to taste so I don't think you would get your taste back before your sense of smell. They are very linked and will come back together

Staystrong7 · 05/09/2022 15:19

@Hopealong - i get some taste but very short burst of smell then smell is gone. Anyone else experience the same?
Please share positive stories x thanks

I had covid back in Nov and it was the Delta variant. I have got my taste and smell back after a few months but now everything tastes and smells funny. Coffee smells like burnt hair. Garlic I can no longer stand it despite being a huge garlic lover before covid. My own bodily odour such as morning breath etc tastes like faeces. It's literally like whatever I eat or smell I can taste my intestines in my mouth. It makes me feel sick. This thread has been great though and I will try all the tips and advice because I'm absolutely miserable living like this where I'm living inside a rotting body.

I never lost my sense of taste, just my smell. 😊

Hi, I had covid in October last year and lost my sense of smell and taste completely for maybe 3+ weeks, it did come back a bit but took me about 6 months to realise that it was only back to say a 3/10, when before I’d had an excellent sense of smell. I did keep testing it on things that I knew were smelly like Tiger Balm and my eyes would water but still only just smell anything. And nothing was ever particularly delicious. Anyway after a bit of Doctor Google, as of course it’s impossible to even think about actually seeing a GP. I found the solution online of using Hayfever steroid Nasal spray , I particularly used the Beconase nasal spray and I’m really pleased that it’s worked. Hope it might work for you.

@GlassofWaterAgai - did your nose feel like it was blocked all the time too when you lost smell? I started to use your tip of 3 deep sniffs. Thank you for the sharing😊

I recommend following Anthony William

instagram.com/medicalmedium?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

I followed his advice after the same issues after covid and got better.
It’s very “out there” but it worked for me.

Yes, felt like it was blocked. It gradually got better
