Red raw under boobs

Sweatyboobs · 17/08/2022 17:35

So with the recent heat waves and high temperatures I’ve been a lot more sweaty than usual. This has unfortunately led to my underboob area becoming raw and sore from underwire bras. I’m a DD cup & breastfed both my children so boobs are heading south.

Does anyone have any good suggestions what I can use to relieve this red rawness, obviously want to get as much air to the area as possible but for the majority of the day my poor boobs need to be suspended in an over-shoulder-boulder-holder of some description.

OP posts:

I have this problem. Big boobs are not always a blessing! So I personally don't wear underwire bras, just my preference, I find them not that comfortable. M&S have a good selection of non wired bras. So in this heat I change my bra every day or at least every other day. Talc under the boobs to help keep them dry. And if needed I find sudocreme helps.

OP I had similar, it was called Intertrigo. You can look it up, there are some graphic pictures on some sites that I don't want to link here.

In my case it was a red, itchy mess under the boobs. Nearly drove me crazy. I got a product called DAKTARIN from the pharmacy and it worked a treat.

In the hot weather I put a panty liner under each boob and rest the bra on the sticky side of the pad IYSWIM. It helps. Hope you get some relief.

Sudocrem. It's great stuff. Definitely NEVER use talcum powder, even when the redness and soreness has cleared up

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 17/08/2022 19:08

Once it's cleared up, use anti perspirant under your boobs. Not deodorant - that doesn't stop you perspiring.

nicknamehelp · 17/08/2022 19:13

Carefull drying, sudocrem and clean bra daily (I find non wired ones best).

RoseOud · 17/08/2022 19:18

Another vote for Sudocrem.

Takes a few days to clear up with daily use and does no harm just to apply it once or twice a week.

Stichintimesavesstapling · 17/08/2022 19:20

I had this when pregnant and it was thrush/fungal. Didn't clear up with any cream until I whacked some caniston on it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 17/08/2022 19:26

Apparently Aloe roll on deodorant from The Body Shop is meant to be great for this although I haven't tried it.

I find powder great as a preventative measure.

GrumpyPanda · 17/08/2022 19:29

When traveling, I've sometimes used folded up paper kitchen towels to soak up the sweat, or buy washable fabric bra liners. Sports bra to lessen the chafing. Or depending on social context, I sometimes simply go braless - a tight undervest lets me keep some control while being considerably less restrictive.

Kerrrmieee · 17/08/2022 19:39

Good old Sudocrem slathered on before bed.

I feel your pain - literally 🤣

NotMeNoNo · 17/08/2022 19:48

I basically treated it as nappy rash. Canesten hydrocortisone knocked it back and I now do talc and a little Sudocrem every day, touch wood, no recurrence this year. Also a well fitting bra.

perimenofertility · 17/08/2022 19:57

Antiperspirant under boobs didn't work for me, I ended up with a rash from them. I fold a flannel in half and tuck under boob/under the wire - one in each cup. Presumably does the same job as bra liners.

Taxiparent · 17/08/2022 20:01

Daktarin spray, for athletes foot is the best, it’s dry, so seems to clear things up quicker than cream.

SophieJo · 17/08/2022 21:24

This probably is Intertrigo. I get it when it’s very hot and sweaty. Make sure you use loads of talc and it will go. Just need to keep checking as sometimes it comes and doesn’t hurt. It will go if you keep it dry.

LemonApplePeach · 17/08/2022 21:31

I'm a GG cup and I use Mitchum gel & let it dry before putting a bra on

icelollycraving · 17/08/2022 21:34

I get this under boobs and under my tummy where my c section was.
I find Savlon cream the best thing, better than canesten, sudocrem etc.

Badger1970 · 17/08/2022 21:35

Years of wearing the wrong bra meant I suffered from this. You need canesten hydrocortisone from the pharmacy counter, it'll go in days but use it very sparingly.

I went for a professional bra fitting and it's changed my life - never get sweaty underband anymore. I do use a light dust of cuticura medicated talc though to be on the safe side.

Papergirl1968 · 17/08/2022 22:14

I have got this under one boob, with a big red sore spot. As in, like a pimple. I think it is a little better today now the weather's cooler but will try some of these ideas.

allboysherebutme · 17/08/2022 22:36

Sudocreme.

MrsMop1964 · 17/08/2022 22:41

Sudocrem, then a daily dusting of Medipure talc as suggested upthread. If you don't have a Savers, you can get it on Amazon but it's dearer.

MrsMop1964 · 17/08/2022 22:44

Only just found out Savers sells online- forget Amazon!

SaveloyDip · 17/08/2022 22:53

I found Lady Anti Monkey Butt powder a god send this year - you can get it from Amazon and its calamine based as opposed to talc. A little goes a long way.

Before I tried this hydrocortisone cream always worked if it was applied very sparingly and then cotton wool pads folded under the cup of bra.

Whycantibetangy · 17/08/2022 23:02

God I feel you OP. I was sunburnt last week on holiday and unable to wear a bra for 2 days. Im a G cup and they were so so sore underneath without any support. Only had some savlon and some talc with me but managed to soothe it enough till I got home. The chemist advised to try sudocrem first and keep it dry as possible. Luckily it was just a sweat rash and cleared up quickly.

Ontobetterthings · 17/08/2022 23:16

Got the same thing! Im using talc!

justasking111 · 17/08/2022 23:16

Get rid of the underwire the consultant told me. Hoik the straps up. Sudocrem works well. I'm suffering down below with the heatwave so sudocrem after morning shower and caneston at bedtime
