How much do you ache and how stiff are you? I am convinced the amount of daily aching, stiffness and general tiredness I have is not normal for this age.

Consider hrt, that has sorted out most of my aches. Do you have any other symptoms? I don’t think it’s normal to ache everyday at your age.

catfunk · 16/08/2022 10:01

Do you do any exercise op? Are too active ?
when I do exercise, mobility work and stretching on a regular basis I feel great - and more energetic.
If I stop for any reason I feel as you described.

HoneyFlowers · 16/08/2022 10:41

Bizarrely I haven't been as active lately, mainly due to stiffness and aching and not wanting to move and then it's a downward spiral. Maybe I'll try some gentle exercise daily.

No other symptoms.

I'm aching a lot - particularly feet

AussieMozzieMagnet · 16/08/2022 16:33

I only experienced this after having my baby for about a year so it was definitely hormonal though it worries me what will happen in the future. Have you heard of Classical Stretch? It's a Canadian programme and really good for aches and pains. You need to keep moving without overdoing it.

bringbackneighbours · 16/08/2022 16:36

48 here and dont ache. Think HRT is magic and would highly recommend the Evorel patches, they made me feel alive again.

tiggergoesbounce · 16/08/2022 16:44

I ache and swell but i have RA.

When im not flaring, I do feel alot better once i exercise regularly though. I have not exercised in a week or 2 and i feel lethargic and bloated !!!
A good exercise regime, slow and stretchy to start, might help with feeling tired and moving your joints mire regularly

WolverineBluey · 16/08/2022 16:57

Getting out of bed is a bloody pain these days! Feel like I hobble down the stairs every morning.

My shoulders are permanently around my ears, I never feel physically relaxed. I need a massage and some exercise for sure but I do put it down to peri.

Starship951 · 16/08/2022 16:59

I know people say this a lot but cutting out sugar and junk made a huge difference to me. Not sure if it's the inflammation link or not, but I definitely notice more aches if I eat a load of sugar.

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/08/2022 17:00

I'm late forties and don't have aches and pains - only after a tough session in the gym!

Jules912 · 16/08/2022 20:47

I do though mine started after I got Covid so suspect is either directly part of my long Covid or due to not being able to do much exercise.

brokenandbrokenx · 16/08/2022 21:44

43 here - no pains at all, no medication at all.

All I do is exercise regularly (6x per week).

And stretch, stretch, stretch.

bellalou1234 · 16/08/2022 21:45

My back aches every morning in bed

Ballsaque · 17/08/2022 00:23

Im 45 and over the last year my knees creak loudly when I walk up the stairs or squat. No pain, just noisy.

Haggisfish3 · 17/08/2022 00:24

I ached a lot. Was vit d deficient. Ache a lot less after taking supplement.

CookieDoughKid · 17/08/2022 00:26

I exercise vigorously x4 a week and lots of cool down stretches afterwards . I'm convinced this is what keeps me mobile!

I admire you and wish I was the same. How do you squeeze in so much exercise each week? Genuinely would like to know how this is possible. Is exercising a top priority of yours?

Spinasaurus · 18/08/2022 10:08

I'm 42. I felt like shit when I was eating shit and not exercising. I feel a million times better for exercising regularly and eating a bit better. FWIW, I've not cut out sugar or anything that extreme. Just more vegetables and less takeaways.

FuzzyPenguin · 18/08/2022 10:09

I am 41 and was suffering really badly with back ache, then more began to ache and click. Went to the doctor and they ran bloods I was very low on Vit D and folic acid. 2 months on tablets and I feel like a new woman.

BeethovenNinth · 18/08/2022 10:10

Late 40s. Don’t ache. Unless I haven’t done yoga a few days and I have been very active

but I do a lot of stuff - eat well, exercise moderately. I eat well 90 per cent of the time.

I exercise 6 days a week.

I go out for a walk for an hour 3 days a week straight after I finish work. DH sorts out dinner for the kids while I do it. I WFH and if I didn't do this, I probably wouldn't leave the house somedays.

The other 3 days I do weights at home, usually in the evenings when the kids have been ordered to go upstairs and leave me alone for an hour gone to bed. DH goes out twice a week for his hobby, so I usually do it then.

Numbat2022 · 18/08/2022 10:12

I don't know how the fuck anyone in their early 40s (with children) manages to exercise more than once a week. Everyone I know is exhausted from having pre-schoolers and working full time.

Anyway, yes I ache. I'm 40 and am very likely to have hereditary arthritis, so that will play a part. I'm also very overweight. I felt a lot better when I was doing yoga every day, but I wasn't getting to bed until gone midnight because I couldn't fit it in otherwise, which is why I stopped.

Hyperion100 · 18/08/2022 10:13

Im 41 and have started to make that noise when I get out of bed, out of a chair or bend over 😂

But thats mostly because I'm sore from exercise.

Exercising in your 40's sets you up for your 50's and 60's. Consistency is key. Keep moving!

Essentially, use it or lose it!

QuebecBagnet · 18/08/2022 10:14

Only ache is from a torn tendon which isn’t healing even after surgery.

I used to think the same but then I worked how much time I spent on MN, Nintendo and telly in the evenings and realised I was bullshitting myself TBH.

I also have more energy since exercising and it has even helped with my horrendous PMT.
