Hi there
My husband told me last night he has been in awful pain for a week in his bottom. He told me it was his back!! I can't believe he didn't tell me.

So it seems to be his anus. He said inside his anus it's a stabbing pain. Awful. This guy has been burned all over his legs and taken paracetamol for it whilst at a burns unit for example. So I think he could've missed something

He said there's nothing on his anus that he can see. Blood only once. No other symptoms. He is not itchy. Just extreme pain inside the anus. Which has been taking paracetamol for, quite a lot

He sAid he hasn't been constipated at all. Nothing changed but he is a plumber and therefore lifts heavy items. Not sure if this could be it.

Piles.
Best to see GP but if he won't then anusol suppositions or the applicator cream for internal.
ibuprofen is better than paracetamol if he's ok with brufen.

tiredanddangerous · 26/05/2022 10:24

Sounds like piles but he needs to see a doctor.

AnnaMagnani · 26/05/2022 10:27

Needs to see his GP. 99% chance its piles so buy some pile cream in the meantime. Still needs checking out.

vodkaredbullgirl · 26/05/2022 10:30

Piles

BearPomBear · 26/05/2022 10:33

Could be an abscess which will need treating very quickly! Definitely speak to GP x

CuriousPerson · 26/05/2022 10:34

Access. Get to doctor

TheYearOfSmallThings · 26/05/2022 10:37

Yes, probably piles. He's going to have to go to the GP I'm afraid.

Men can be squeamish about this stuff - my father will only get the blood test for prostate cancer, he says he'd rather run the extra risk than go through the manual examination.

Afterfire · 26/05/2022 10:40

Piles or a fissure. Doctor can prescribe stuff.

GertrudeKerfuffle · 26/05/2022 10:44

Piles can be very painful. I had them after having an emcs and I'd say the pain was up there with the contractions 😬

packedlunches · 26/05/2022 10:44

Why has he not gone to the doctor? No one on mn will be able to diagnose him.

Sqeebling · 26/05/2022 10:51

Why on earth has he not gone to his GP Confused

cultkid · 26/05/2022 10:52

I thought piles too. I'm going to get him the cream and suppositories

If he had abscess would he have a fever, he doesnt?

Sorry for asking here I'm worried and can't drag him myself

Ill encourage him

Get a doctor's appointment and go with him. It could be something as disagreeable but manageable as piles or it could be bowel cancer. He needs to see a professional.

Men tend to think their anus / penis is the most special one on the planet and the doctor will never have seen anything like it before. (Lightheartedly said, but gosh they’re so funny about going to the doctors about these things! Women have smears, child birth, coils fitted, all sorts…!)

MayorDusty · 26/05/2022 10:58

I found out that some men have 'bants ' about the finger up the bum.
It's one of things they tease each other about.
Maybe as women we are more conditioned to accept necessary medical exams but it could be a factor that he's heard some of that masculine top tier patter.

Fever wouldn't come until he was in the early stages of sepsis which is very possible with an abscess so please don't assume, get medical advice ASAP

AnnaMagnani · 26/05/2022 12:21

He'd rather sit (or not sit) in agony than go to the GP.

Seriously the GP has probably seen, and felt, the arses of most of the town. Piles are an incredibly common problem. Everyone has gone there or will go there at some point.

loopylindi · 26/05/2022 12:26

There is a specific name for (quite literally) a pain in the ass. It begins with a p (not piles) Hubby has is occasionally and gets rid by sitting on edge of bath with bum hanging over. Just a thought!

loopylindi · 26/05/2022 12:29

Name of condition - Proctalgia.

packedlunches · 26/05/2022 12:35

Name of condition - Proctalgia.

AKA Javelin Arse (learnt that on here)

User3568975431146 · 26/05/2022 12:38

Not sure about the piles thing as they shouldn't be that painful.

Either an abscess or a fissure is my guess. A fissure can be extremely painful but will heal up in time just keep poops soft and no straining.

If it's still the same in a couple of days in the absence of other symptoms get it checked out. Abscesses can cause systemic reactions but not always a high temperature so please keep a close eye.

cultkid · 26/05/2022 13:11

Oh god I'm really worried now

He said he won't go to the doctor

Ive gotten him the cream with the applicator

I'm so paranoid now as it hurts a lot
I think I'll have to let it become dire and then make him go to doctor. I don't know. What else are my options? He has no discharge or puss

Would you have those if you had an abscess

Its not javelin bum we have both had this many times but this is like javelin bum but constant

Why are some men such idiots about the doctor? Granted women too, 'ive got chest pain, dizzy and thoughts of impending doom, don't want to bother the GP...'

If he won't go to the doctor let him get on with it. Don't pander him trying to sort remedies.

Has he had a poo? An anal fissure is literally like shitting glass shards.

MayorDusty · 26/05/2022 13:19

I've piles and a fissure.
They can both be fucking dreadful.
Piles for me would hurt for up to six hours after a poo.
Fissure was more painful during but eased after.
The cream should shrink it if it's piles so he should see an improvement. If the cream doesn't help them he really must go to GP.
He does need it checked, use your best tactics depending on what will get him there.
And try not to worry, his stubborn will wear down!
