OK convince me that the MOONCUP won't cause cystitis and/or thrush like the diaphragm did & I'll get one

AF is now unbelievably heavy for 2 days (super tampons soaked in 1hr) then very light for about 4 days (not light enough for no tampon, but when I remove smallest Tampax available I feel like I'm dragging my insides out, v painful. Sorry TMI)

So considering a Mooncup, but had fairly distastrous experiences with a diaphragm about 20yrs ago. Once I finally got the flipping thing in, I'd almost always get cystitis and/or thrush (I'm prone to cystitis anyway) Please tell me the Mooncup won't do this!

And also, I've had 2 c-sections (no established labour or dilation either time), I'm 41 but I still feel like I have (again TMI) a tight vagina In fact my chat up line was always "I have a long tongue and a tight vagina"

So will I still need the old slackers size??

might have been on the loo when saying it

BBBee · 04/01/2008 17:52

it must be odd for the person you are chatting up though - the fact that you feel the need to mention your tight vagina implies that you are sitting there feeling paranoid that he may be suspecting that you are loosely vagined. Like blurting out "I'm not in love with you you know!"

Shaniece · 04/01/2008 18:06

I think this thread must have been a wind up. Who in their right mind would say "my vagina is nice and tight" in a chat-up line, and what's that with the long tongue?

BBBee · 04/01/2008 18:09

shaniece - this thread seems to have effected us both deeply - is ti disgust at the chat up line or inherent insecurity?!?!

Shaniece · 04/01/2008 18:14

@ bee - probably both. Maybe we need counselling lol! But I had one ventouse delivery one C-section so should my vagina be only slighly slacker than the ops?? .

BBBee · 04/01/2008 18:16

so your chat up line should be 'hi I have a slightly tight vagina considering I have had a ventouse delivery'

BBBee · 04/01/2008 18:18

'...and it is only slightly looser than OP's but cannot be so speccifc about my tonuge'

Shaniece · 04/01/2008 18:19

Yeah . Hey, where is the op anyway? to afraid to come on after reading all this I suspect.

BBBee · 04/01/2008 18:40

when she says 'old slackers' does she mean us?

Shaniece · 04/01/2008 18:46

I'm doing my pelvic floors as I type .I dont think the op is coming back (to scared to) . Can't believe about the long tongue- why would you say that in a chat up line?

bozza · 04/01/2008 19:23

Well if a tight vagina was mentioned I would assume there was only reason for mentioning the long tongue - as an alternative to the vagina....

at expat. While I might go in for TMI on a thread like this, I wouldn't in a chat up line.

motherinferior · 04/01/2008 19:28

If you're prone to thrush - I don't know about cystitis - a mooncup might be a bit problematic, actually. I know at least one other Mooncup fan who's found this.

expatinscotland · 04/01/2008 20:16

what's with the long tongue?

i mean, amazon, you do realise it's not the tongue but where you run the tip of it?

oh, and don't forget the pressure and suction, but that's from your hand.

Shaniece · 04/01/2008 20:20

This thread is such a wind-up . I notice the oP is yet to return .

expatinscotland · 04/01/2008 20:21

you bucket crouches.

all is not lost

amazonianwoman · 04/01/2008 21:07

Oh my word, what have I caused?

No, I haven't been hiding. Got in late, just got kids to bed. Thanks for all replies.

Isn't a girl allowed to be tongue in cheek (no pun intended) on here? The "chat up line" was used within the 3 long-term pre-kids relationships I've had (DH included) who all commented (unprovoked) on tightness thereof. No bragging intended. And I know no woman who's had a section who wouldn't have killed for a vaginal birth. In fact it would've made my life much easier if things had "stretched" (midwife agreed, just never got a chance to try). No bleeding after every internal/smear/even sex sometimes. Less frequent debilitating cystitis. Less pain. And no, it's not a psychological problem.

So, it is/was a genuine concern re using a Mooncup.

And I'm very sorry for the "old slackers" comment. Was not commenting on natural birthers. According to the mooncup website I am an old slacker myself

BBBee · 04/01/2008 21:17

oh god all with a pinch of salt too darling!

I use a mooncup and am not immune to cystitis (had it a few times in my life) but have not noticed it being aggrivated by the mooncup - not had a reoccurance and have used my mooncup for about six months now. I strelise it in the microwave.

Sixofone · 07/01/2008 21:57

I had thrush and am convinced it was from mooncup use but got shouted down that it couldn't possibly be, even though it's the first time I've had it in 4 years
