OK convince me that the MOONCUP won't cause cystitis and/or thrush like the diaphragm did & I'll get one

AF is now unbelievably heavy for 2 days (super tampons soaked in 1hr) then very light for about 4 days (not light enough for no tampon, but when I remove smallest Tampax available I feel like I'm dragging my insides out, v painful. Sorry TMI)

So considering a Mooncup, but had fairly distastrous experiences with a diaphragm about 20yrs ago. Once I finally got the flipping thing in, I'd almost always get cystitis and/or thrush (I'm prone to cystitis anyway) Please tell me the Mooncup won't do this!

And also, I've had 2 c-sections (no established labour or dilation either time), I'm 41 but I still feel like I have (again TMI) a tight vagina In fact my chat up line was always "I have a long tongue and a tight vagina"

So will I still need the old slackers size??

Don't they do the mooncup by age as well as babies? I had the same problem with the diapragm as you. Isn't cystitis bloody awful! I haven't had cystitis with the mooncup - perhaps it's because it's in a slightly different place and it would probably be fantastically uncomfortable to have sex with the thing in place. Anyone tried?

AW - The mooncup is vaginal birth and age related. There are only two sizes I believe and the bigger one is for over 30's regardless of vaginal birth. I have been using mine for 3 months and haven't had any adverse effects.

Yes bee, it does contract back.

I just asked DH if he thinks my vagina is any bigger since having DC's and he said it is still exactly the same - and believe me, he is the type to say the truth .

Don't worry winestein - I doubt you are alone, in fact, I know you are not. I used to get cystitis very frequently but since having two vaginal births and using a mooncup I have not had it once.

It is true that giving birth put paid to my recurrent cystitis. Did also cause piles and a mild prolapse, but you can't have it all. and TMI I know.

I had a mooncup and having not had cystiis for 20 years (after haivng my kidney removed) I had it for the first time this year just after using the moon cup - something ot do with the pressure I think,

Not had it again since going back to tampons

have been using a mooncup for nearly 2 years and no problems since either.

so long as you sterilsie it etc i cant see how or why it would cause problems?

Can someone medical tell me if a woman that had CS births have tighter vaginas that women who give birth natrually? I am still peeved at the OPs comment tbh.

a midwife once told me there was no difference as pregnancy causes any changes not birth but she might have been being nice.
