girls will be gutted if we dont go but it is so painful i dont think i can go......

think it is muscle pain, it kilss when i lift it or move it on its own but is not so painful when i use my other hand to lift it..

i have put ibrofen gel on it.....

i have never had pain so bad that i cant sleep...

You poor thing, sounds horrid! Have you tried those heat pads? If its muscular, it might help. There's no need to buy one of the expensive ones imo, I think Superdrug or SuperSavers to singles for £1.

LadyTophamHatt · 22/12/2007 07:20

nurofen is an anti-inflammatory so if it is muscle pain s that the best thing to take.

take paracetamol with it too, or If you go to the chemist get some Paramol, it sthe strongest pain killer you can buy over the counterr IIRC.

Weegle · 22/12/2007 07:32

if it's muscle pain then nip to a chemist on route and buy either ibuprofen gel or voltarol (diclofenac) gel - you apply to where it hurts and should make quite a difference.

Weegle · 22/12/2007 07:33

dur, must read thread properly - you've tried ibuprofen gel. Have you tried voltarol gel - it is stronger.

also alternate paracetamol/nurofen like you would a child with a temperature

chocolatespiders · 22/12/2007 08:08

my hairdresser warmed up a wheat pad for me last night while i sat in the chair....that was good so may get one
think i will get a sling to wear today, to keep my arm in one place
thanks for all your advise,, will get some paramol en route if that doesnt help then i will go to our walk in centre....

i cant remember child birth being thois painful for me... or maybe i have a short memory

Possibly sounds like "frozen shoulder". I'll do a google for you and see if I can find anything out. I had it myself years ago, but I can't remember what I was advised to do.

OhLITTLEFISHofBethlehem · 22/12/2007 08:37

Does it sound like this?

chocolatespiders · 22/12/2007 22:38

ok i put a brave face on it and we went to london, >>> me in agony... boots or other chemists dont sell triangular bandages anymore as the demand is low???? so was getting desperate>> saw an ambulance> knocked on the door and he came out with first aid kit gave me a sling> told me to go to get an xray.....

got home brother dropped me at a+e... had xray and blow me down it is fractured???? top of bone near shoulder.....

cue tears about how i will now look after my kids on my own with them off school and christmas...
i am calm again now> but still shocked> got to go to fractur clinic on thursday...

Hope your arm is better soon
What a shock

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 22/12/2007 22:46

OMG! Poor you! How did you do it then?

chocolatespiders · 22/12/2007 22:57

i know it sound awful put i really dont know... i am quite clumsy and tend to hit doors with my arm.. but surely i would have instant pain?

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 22/12/2007 23:00

Ouch! Glad you got the x-ray so you know what you're dealing with. You'll just have to sit back with a box of chocs over Christmas and let everyone else get on with the work.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 22/12/2007 23:01

I do things like that. I sometimes find a hideous purple bruise on my leg or thigh and don't have a clue how it got there! I can't imagine how you'd miss that though.

A 7 year old I know, did the same. Unfortunately all they do is give you a sling for a collar bone.

chocolatespiders · 22/12/2007 23:05

it is horrid not knowing where i have done it.. havent been out and got legless and fallen over..

i just feel for my girls i am lone parent.. so know one else to see to them... poor things....

one good thing doc says i cant work and i am down to work christmas eve.....

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 22/12/2007 23:10

Do you have a friend or family who could come and help out? You mght find your kids enjoy getting to do some stuff themselves

chocolatespiders · 22/12/2007 23:13

my bro has just txted to say he will take them out for a few hours tomorrow.....

you are right they will like it...

i am so pleased i have my wrapping done i am normally a christmas eve wrapping person but this year i have done a bit every night...

EffiePerine · 22/12/2007 23:22

How old are they?

OhLITTLEFISHofBethlehem · 23/12/2007 10:39

Oh my goodness chocolatespiders. What a shock!

BrightBaublesBeetroot · 23/12/2007 10:43

oh you poor thing - and you are not having it seen to until Thursday?

why?

chocolatespiders · 23/12/2007 12:19

think going to london prob made it worse.. but i thought it was muscular... and i hate to make a fuss about things...

my girls are 10 and 4... my brother is coming to take them out soon... i could prob cope with it if it wasnt so flipping painful. they gave me tablets but they dont touch the pain.... and i think i am taking to many.......

i think the clinic is closed over christmas so next appt was thursday... > dont even know what they do there...

OP posts:
BrightBaublesBeetroot · 23/12/2007 13:15

isn't there another clinic you can go to? seems odd that they are closed

LIZS · 23/12/2007 13:19

That is a nasty place for a fracture and hard to immobilise. Can you go back to A and E , 5 days seems a long time to leave it.

chocolatespiders · 23/12/2007 13:23

i would be fine if i could control the pain,

i hope they did the best for me while i was there last night...

was thinkin of ringing nhs direct to see if i can take anything with the co-codomol

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 23/12/2007 13:32

Can you take anti inflammatories as well? Ibuprofen or Voltarol?

DingDongMummyLinOnHigh · 23/12/2007 13:33

it sounds very much like a frozen shoulder,i had this at the begining of the year and that is where i first felt the pain.If it is this ,the pain does gradually go but it is awkward to dress etc.then you will gradually get the use of it back.I does take time but there are some great excercises to help it.I would get it checked out as if it is this the doc can give you something to help you.
