I’ve started wetting myself at night

Alwaysfullofquestions · 19/12/2021 10:22

Can’t believe I’m posting this but I’m 26, a mum, but I had a c-section.

I’ve wet myself during the night twice in 10 days. I wake up near the end of doing it. If making me feel really gross and embarrassed and I don’t know why it’s suddenly started happening?

My son is 2 so it can’t be to do with my pregnancy. I’m thinking of going to the doctor but as I said I’m super embarrassed.

Any knowledge would be helpful because as I said I don’t know why it’s happening I feel like a child.

Thank you :(

Could you have a UTI?

Hankunamatata · 19/12/2021 10:24

Uti?

Megacervixosaurus · 19/12/2021 10:24

Go to your GP. It’s not a good sign.

Nidan2Sandan · 19/12/2021 10:24

More than likely you have cystitis or a UTI. You can order tests for this off places like Superdrug and the medication you'd need too, if you feel too embarrassed to see a GP.

Alwaysfullofquestions · 19/12/2021 10:24

I don’t have any other symptoms of a UTI so I don’t think so

Are you exhausted? This happened to me a couple of times in my life where I was running on empty and was in such a deep sleep I only woke as it was happening. Nothing physically wrong, just exhausted.

NotTheOriginalFeargalSharkey · 19/12/2021 10:25

Have you been drinking more? (Normal fluids, not alcohol)
Change in any medication?
Diabetes?
I would see your gp. They will have heard a lot worse!

Alwaysfullofquestions · 19/12/2021 10:26

I’ve just had a change in medication and yes I am exhausted and burnt out so maybe that. I will go to the GP I’m just so embarrassed about it

Diabetes can present like that. It’s worth a visit to your GP for a test right away.

Daisy95 · 19/12/2021 10:26

Don't have any back pain atall? Normal sensation down there?

Missgemini · 19/12/2021 10:27

Definitely go to your doctor. Please don't be embarrassed. They would have seen this so many times!
They'll probably test for an infection and do other examinations. Get that appointment ASAP. I hope it gets sorted soon.

Moolia · 19/12/2021 10:27

It could be pelvic floor problems. Worth seeing a GP, you can ask for a female doctor.

IncompleteSenten · 19/12/2021 10:27

Yes, you need to see the gp and have some tests.

gamerchick · 19/12/2021 10:28

You need to see your GP. Its not something they haven't heard before. Embarrassment to nip in the bud is better than embarrassment of wearing nappies in public if it gets worse. This stuff is usually easily fixable.

Mischance · 19/12/2021 10:28

You must go to your GP. There really is no reason to be embarrassed - they will look at it objectively and go through all the possible diagnoses in their head and then proceed to help you. They will have seen this before.

MadeForThis · 19/12/2021 10:29

Pelvic floor would also present during the day. Do you leak when you cough or sneeze?

PigeonLittle · 19/12/2021 10:29

GP. Please dont be embarrassed! Your body is involuntary when youre asleep the GP won't even blink. I promise!!!

Health wise it's most likely a simple fix but could be concerning where earlier intervention is much better.

Missgemini · 19/12/2021 10:30

@Daisy95

This! If any new back pain or change in sensation down below/legs, then you might be best advised to get to A&E sooner rather than later. Unlikely, but a problem with the spinal cord could cause that whole picture.
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 19/12/2021 10:30

You do t have to go to your doctor just send an email on the main site. They will ask you for a urine same. This is a common problem nothing unusual for your GP.

user290814356289 · 19/12/2021 10:32

Bladder adhesions from the cesarean now you're fully healed.

Please do get checked by the GP, it could be a urine infection.

Were you diabetic when you were pregnant? Have you had an hba1c done?

Alwaysfullofquestions · 19/12/2021 10:32

No back pain or signs of a UTI. I had gestational diabetes so it’s wholly possible it could be diabetes

CottonSock · 19/12/2021 10:34

I had this two weeks ago!
I had back pain too so Dr was cautious and I went in for an examination. She told me straight away I had thrush and not wet the bed since the one little tablet.
Hope similar for you

CottonSock · 19/12/2021 10:35

She ran blood tests too, just in case. I've also been running on empty.

gogohm · 19/12/2021 10:41

Use e consult with your doctor, you can then write it down and edit to get it tight. I suspect they will tell you to drop in a urine sample and perhaps order blood tests then will call you once they have the results, or book you in for face to face then often. So much easier than explaining face to face if you are embarrassed

Winter2020 · 19/12/2021 10:43

Wetting is a possible side effect of some medicines so also mention the change in meds when you speak to your GP.
