@themessygarden My second surgery went really well thanks. It was two and a half weeks ago now and my eye feels completely back to normal, except the sight is fantastic now. If anything I would say it has gone better than my first. I don’t know if you read my earlier posts upthread but I had a stye and some soreness after the first and it would water quite a lots for a good while afterwards. This time there has been none of that at all, just really straightforward.

Sorry to hear of your setback, Would you not even consider having the op if the Professor was present while his assistant was performing the procedure? It seems a shame to have to start again from scratch if the clinic has a good track record. What if you were to ask to discuss your concerns with the Professor directly to see if he can’t set your mind at rest?

I had my first eye done yesterday, (with the professor I was originally booked with), I was completely knocked out for it , slept through it all! I asked the anaesthetist several times to top it up, which he did , because I was shaking like a leaf, it was almost embarrassing I was so nervous. Hope he is as obliging for the next one.

It was really sunny this morning, and our house has a lot of glass, so I suffered with a lot of pain in any area that was really bright,, the same on the trip back to the clinic, even with sunglasses I still had to cover my eye with my hand. I was really worried about that.

The professor was really pleased with the surgery, seemed surprised about the light sensitivity, , but didn't say what could be the cause of it, said something to his assistant (in French, I'm not in the UK) which I didn't understand. He put in some drops which he said would help

I was immediately able to see when they took off the bandage and couldn't believe it, it was amazing, however my eyesight is getting progressively blurrier for distance vision as the day is going on, close up still seems to be fine. I am back for another check up on Friday, so hoping the blurry vision is gone by then.

2nd eye scheduled for next week, all going well with the first one.

I had a toric lens fitted and I think it was supposed to be a bifocal.

@themessygarden Ah that’s good, I’m pleased you managed to get one done. And the second one scheduled for next week - you don’t mess about do you!

I’m not sure why the surgeon was surprised that the light sensitivity was so bad. I remember when I had my first one done, I couldn’t even open my eye anywhere near a window initially and I had heard that was common straight after surgery. It very quickly got better though, I think it just takes a bit of time for the eye/brain to adjust to not having a cloudy lens keeping the brightness out. Try not to worry about the blurriness - it is very early days and all the drops that you are using could cause that. You will be able to speak to the surgeon if you’re still worried on Friday though.

It’s almost 6 weeks since I had my second eye done now and it is completely better. Has been for a couple of weeks actually and I had none of the issues that I did with my first.

Let us know how your recovery goes and how the second op is next week.

So 2nd surgery done, 2nd eye is really good although I did have post surgery edema which is improving. I had quite a bit of swelling and bruising on the 2nd eye which I didn't have after the first surgery.

Unfortunately still very blurry vision in the 1st eye, , that has gotten worse over the two weeks since I had it done, so I may need another surgery. I have to wait another 2 weeks for them to evaluate it again. If I do need another surgery, it will have to wait a further 3 months before I can have it doneI.

I am totally screwed for driving at the moment. I suggested getting temporary glasses for the next two weeks and the Dr. said it is not a good idea, as it can take up to a month for the vision to settle, so better to wait it out.

Hope everyone else is doing well.
